KNIGHT RIDER CARS

- Here's another one for the collection folks. :-) This video was never intended to be assembled like the way it is. Actually, this is my Kitt car, and my buddy Joey's Kitt car.
Joey stopped by, I grabbed my camera, we took the cars out and went nuts. :-) Don't try this stuff on your neighborhood streets kids......we did....and attracted a law enforcement vehicle. :-) It's all good though, he got a kick out of the Kitt cars strutting their stuff.
Just another addition to the video collection of the "Oklahoma Knights" doing what they do best........having fun with their Knight Rider cars.
:-)
Peace all....thanks for sharing.
Mike
its fun to see kitt and karr get allong really makes me happy
Kitt was originally a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am. That's all the show ever used. Although the years may have varied as the show got older....the base model is an 82 Trans Am. You can build a Kitt car out of any 3rd Gen Trans Am or Firebird......but the exterior must match what the 82 originally had. It's all relative to what your preferences are. :-)
The primary Kitt car that you see all over my channel was assembled entirely by me. I've been working on it for a very long time. As well as the Jurassic Park Jeep that is shown around my page, and the Ghostbusters car. All those were made in my driveway. :-) And honestly, cost is all dependent on what route you take to build one. They can cost anywhere from 10, to 50 grand depending on how the car is built.
This was a very special show that was a big part of my childhood! The new Knight Rider doesnt come close but I was still sad when it was cancelled. Anyway- Kudos to you again! How did you make the elaborate dashboard?
By the time the series reached the end of the 4th year, they had dozens upon dozens of Trans Ams however. Including several computer or "hero" cars that had since been used around the country, and set up on display at the Universal Theme parks. I recall seeing several parked on the back lot at Universal in Hollywood back in the day. :-)
@mandymoorefanatic I'm land locked in Oklahoma.....if you know where to look out here....you can find them everywhere. :-)
You make amazingly cool KITT's! I wish I had one. :(
@mave3010 Yup....Peter Cullen voiced both of them. :-)
The title of the video is "KITT vs KARR by maxxtruck9906". Let me know how it is. Thx again
Thanks man. I think we have "too" much fun with our Kitt cars, but that's what it's all about. :-)
I'm working on additional rigs for the front and rear of the car. As soon as the rain drys up....we'll go out playin again. :-)
Peace man.
Mike
Too old??? I'd take a Trans Am or Firebird over a Mustank P.O.S. Ford any day. That car will never be KITT in my eyes.....there is only one.....and he aint no Ford. Just my thoughts.....for an old guy..... :-)
@Louie0046 You can go to my Plastics page. Google the words "Charodon Plastics." Go to that main site, Then go to the "links" tab. You'll see a web site that carries them. :-)
omfg, i really want KITT. damn, ive been dreaminq of having a replica or atleast a trans am. =( one of these days.......
@MarquisRex Not me. :-) I'm working on my second Ecto 1 replica, and still have another unfinished Knight Rider car in the backyard. Don't foresee a Goliath replica in my future. :-)
Your camera work was incredible as are your KITT replicas! Great job!!
Very nice.
@thebestplayerful Don't know, I've never been to Sweden. :-) Not sure of their local and county laws so I really couldn't advise you. Just on what's allowed here in the states, and even then it varies from state to state.
@BurnMichaelWeston The light on the front often referred to as the "scanner" or an "infared tracking scope" was basically the car's eye. It used it to detect, scan, and look for dangers in the TV series. Plus it gave the car a "living" presence instead of just a static prop that had no animated features to it. :-) Something like that. LoL
Peace man.
Did you know William Daniels (the voice of KITT), and David Hasselhoff (Knight), didn’t meet until 6 months of filming had passed. Up to that point, Hasselhoff hadn’t seen the voice behind the black Trans Am.www.endedtvseries.com/knight-rider/ check it out more stuff you didn't know!
Both cars have external PA speakers and have the integrated audio from Knight Rider built into them, including the voices, but for the sake of this video, the audio you hear is added after the fact with an audio/video editing program. There are however several vids here on my channel showing the cars and their "real" external audio functions.
I got news for you friendo..... the "Kitt" conversion in "this" video is more than just a replica. He's full of surprises too. :-)
Many of the other videos can explain that. Heh heh
Not a movie, but a TV show that ran for four years. The car had artificial intelligence powered by a computer in the TV show. "KITT" was the car's name, and the red light was always referred to as the "scanner." It's how the computer could see, detect, and locate what was going on around it. As far as not being able to drive with it on, it's a Red Moving Light. And facing forward, only emergency vehicles can have a red light like that. But I agree, it's a rather stupid law. :-)
Not a stupid question at all my friend. The use of the light varies from one car to the next, but it's totally illegal to drive with "any" kind of moving red light on the front of your car. I do it from time to time for car shows, parades, special events, and if I'm feeling brave. Most of the local cops around my area know me.....but if the wrong one sees me driving Kitt with it on.....it can be a nasty fine. Peace man.
@humbertojimmy They are actually perfectly street legal, but since the scanners or "red lights" up front are only used for show purposes or for alarm systems, they don't pose any violation or issues that keep them off the road. One of the Kitt cars in this video is owned by a guy that works with the police, (the car with brown trim) and my Kitt in the video is known well enough across Oklahoma and no one has given me any grief about the light in over 10 years. :-) Peace man.
@tota925 Well, I got news for you friendo, the "speshul" red light on my car as you put it, is the least of his "Kitt" features. You say it doesn't make my car Kitt? Why don't you look at my other videos and you'll see that my car is a carbon copy duplicate of the exact same one used in Knight Rider. Inside and out. I know what Kitt was, and I'm fully aware that a "speshul red light" doesn't make a car Kitt. I don't have a speshul light on anything. My car "is" Kitt, inside and out. :-)
@Bartman954 I think it started out kinda if-y......but towards the end it started to get better. I think it bombed because the producers "again" didn't listen to what the fans wanted. I've met some of the actors from the new series including Justin...and they're really nice.....but the creators of that show just didn't pay proper attention to what the fans wanted......so it flopped.
Joey is going to eventually remove the stickers when his car gets repainted. Joey is doing a massive amount of work on his Kitt right now, so I'm sure he'll have some new surprises very soon.
Not sure about the "too long" part of my Kitt nose. I've had it since 2000, and I know it is different in it's own ways....but I love the look, and can't stand the front nose blackouts....so....until fate drops a new nose in my lap....we'll just have to wait and see. :-)
Peace man.
Mike
Not as much as you might think. But any price I say isn't really relevant due to the fact that each total cost is different for each person. For those who build them themselves, they can do it a lot less than what a full turn key would go for. If you do it yourself, expect to pay anywhere from 10 - 15 grand. Just a rough estimate. :-)
@El7IncA You can purchase the individual components and customize the appropriate 3rd Gen Trans Am or Firebird, or you can purchase a full Turn Key model that's already done. Fully complete Turn Key models can run anywhere from 40 to 50 Grand. Search the net and you'll find companies that specialize in making these Knight Rider conversion cars.
@92Iuly Honestly, it all depends on how the work is done, and by who. It's hard to disclose and exact amount since hiring someone to do this can indeed be quite expensive...but gathering up the needed components, and doing it yourself can save you a ton of money....trust me....I know. :-)
It is indeed a cool hobby. But it's not without it's ups and downs. The positive really out weigh the negatives, but there are times when the cars get down right stubborn, and things just don't wanna work right. :-)
Peace man.
Mike
@jsdart123 No prob man, and thanks for the nice words. But what you mention has already been done. :-) Browse my other videos and you'll see that my Kitt does talk and respond and in his own way....has a mind of his own. :-)
Peace man.
Mike
@milkysunkar Sure did, an evil one too. First featured in an episode called "Trust Doesn't Rust" from season 1, and then "Kitt vs Karr" from season 3. The Peter Cullen voice in my video here are audio samples taken from "Trust Doesn't Rust." :-)
@santacruzdz A lot. :-) I don't build these cars to sell. One in this video is mine, and the other belongs to a buddy that I've been helping build his. But there are vendors out there that specialize in building Knight Rider cars. :-)
My Kitt has a well tuned 350, with a T5 5 Speed transmission. He's not the fastest thing on the road, but I like to compare him to a Corvette, wrapped in a Knight Rider skin. :-)
Everything is for sale. :-) However the two cars in this video currently are not. I'm sure if the right price was offered, either my friend or myself would consider it. :-)
@laurence265 It's actually very natural feeling. Very much like a flight yoke in a plane. It's very comfortable and the grip is awesome. :-)
That's a negative ghost rider. :-)
@BASol I definitely think this was one of my better vids dude. Your car and my car looked like they were having it out. :-)
@mig123100 They are both home built conversion cars. :-) In other words.... home made replicas of Kitt from Knight Rider. :-)
من احلا الافلام الأمريكية
@laggar28 "IF" I ever get tired of Kitt, the next person in line to take him over would be my son. :-)
@KN1IGHT I know what you mean but im not what you call louded with money x] althogh i'll proby get the gauges that would be needed but other then that im good so it would be a costom like yours witch almost looks better then the one on the show
Amazingly enough, I remember seeing that as a kid in a Toys R Us store. From what I remember, it was enough to drool over. :-)
Thanks, my buddy and I had fun making that vid.
Mike
@Louie0046 Anything's possible.....but I'd go with a Trans Am personally. :-)
@smashingstuff09 The dash......a waste of time?? Bite your tongue buddy. :-)
@Anastasia1495 If you think you're going to crash it, don't get one. :-)
Don't miss out Knight Rider Reunion is coming in October 2012. Check out the knightriderreunion website.Tickets are on sale now and free car owner registration is open.
A smile on your face? That's too awesome. Thanks for sharing that bit of info. That means I definitely was successful in what I set out to do. :-)
Peace man, and thanks.
Mike
I don't know any coutry that allows a car having red lights at the front. So i'm guessing these cars aren't street legal.
i appreciate the info, yes i do remember KARR. Very evil. Unfortunately the new release of KNIGHT RIDER was not successful. Perhaps when Knight Rider came out in the 80s, it was totally a new concept at that time, a car with GPS , talking car, etc. But now as you know, you can get all those with the new cars we buy , except the talking part.
Karr is about average actually......my money is on KITT. :-)
Just so you know...it isn't whether KITT (then or now) is this car or that car, because it is truly the technology that makes KITT *then and now) what KITT truly is. He could have been a Toyota for all I care...all I know is that the technology is what made KITT truly KITT.
@smashingstuff09 not only a bumper and scanner. you need the whole bodykit. front, rear+ hood of course. and foglights? oh and rims of course.
those wont cost too little. and you need a good technician to apply all those parts.
cool TWINS Lol nice work.
Thank you very much. Working on some new stuff too. :-)
Peace man.
Mike
and then turbo boosting into karr and kitt if i say yes promise me we will never have to do it again................. never say never buddy .....never say never!!!! and then ......he`s (karr) still alive.
They had 15 kitt cars at universal studios in Hollywood during the series, they were stunt cars, and they got through the lot of them by the end of the series. They only had one computer car.
@malakaijub Don't think the misses would like that. :-)
I'm in the process of building one.When I was a kid I always wanted that car.Now with technology and The internet is becoming a reality I can't wait till my K.I.T.T is complete!!
LoL!!! Exactly......you big Knight Rider nerd you. :-)
@lejink I agree....but it's all in GMs hands now. :-)
So. It's illegal. Bummer, isn't it? You know, like, "Aww. That's a bummer."
Why on earth would your throw money at the monitor?
did a privat company make these cars for you ore hollywood? and how mutsch does those cars cost to make? thanks from a knight rider fan from sweden.
can i know about thees cars...can anyone tel me plz....the make of this car..is it all real wat the knightrider car has..?? turbo boost..?
Nice!
Well, if you're getting tired of K.I.T.T. and want to get rid of him, call me! xD
Die Autos sind einzeln angefertigt. Das Kitt-Auto ist meins, und der Karr ist meine Freunde. Kitt ist immer mein Traumauto auch gewesen. Ich habe an meinen seit 1994 gearbeitet. Friedensmann. :-)
For its day, it was the best...but for todays time the mustang is better....but I guess you are to old to see that....8^)
All the way up until I got married. :-) Heh heh
I beg to differ. The music is appropriate for the theme of the video.....and is a popular track amongst those who have built these cars before. Not to mention, UA-cam's copyright filter won't mess with it. Thank you.
Sweet! :-)
@smashingstuff09 That's Kitt though. :-) He was known for his dash instrumentation. And the majority of the lights were in the dash and for the car's gauges. And some of course were for show. :-)
Thank you. :-)
@TheNorthernSoulKing I know they're out there. Just finding a good and affordable donor car is the tricky part. They come in waves. Sometimes there are a ton, some times there are none. I'd say no they're not hard to find, and yes they are hard to find. It all depends on when and where you are searching. But as I said before, they come and go. You ever thought of joining a message board dedicated to Firebirds and Trans Ams? You may have some better luck with them. :-)
oh ok. i watched youre films. nice work. butt how do you find all the people around you. making those films.
i wish they would show the night riders shows because that what like that came out in time now i feel old
i see these videos of KITT but nobody makes their car look like KATT. did everyone forget about that car?
A little less than entirely too much. :-)
Thanks. What costume are you working on?
@Bartman954 Who else would it be? :-)
@KN1IGHT does the car jump when you press it?it has to jump or its not turbo boost!!!!!!
Joey still wants to try it. :-)
Heh heh....crazy man.
Thanks. This video was really cool to film....it just sucked putting it together. :-(
Peace man.
Mike
What kind of power are you running kitt on? anything special under the hood?
is the turbo boost installed
it isnt KITT if it doesnt have turbo boost!!!
Sweet. :-) That's one of the reasons I do this. :-)
Thanks.
Mike
karr was on here 5 times using a different acct each time
@KN1IGHT I dont really need all the extra lights
@LavaPlanetPredator thanks :-)
Well, if it makes you feel any better....my Kitt in this video started out as a 500 dollar Firebird. :-)
@MarquisRex Thanks for the nice words. The dash is a combination of the work of vendors around the U.S. that supplied me with screen accurate replications of the dash shell, the steering wheel, the electronics, etc. Then all I had to do was assemble it all into the car in the video. :-) Thanks again.
Mike
@TommyChevyBugle Thanks. :-)
@sisterbrothers Thanks. :-)
@philip17rc Thanks man. :-)
@Jamesvazella2017 Say what?
Thumbs up for this page author's ability to reject your negative comment! Ha!!
wow, I'm jealous, I need a car like these:)
thats optimus primes voice in carr so its optimus vs. kitt lol
