the discount thing is really cool for getting a bit more variety in rounds, the EZchem is hilarious as a concept and might actually be useful and i’m generally liking how AI’s coming along so far. Glory to the WEEWOO Helm (it’s craftaftable btw, pretty easy too, so literally the entire sec team can have them at once). also, for anyone reading, Harmony is 100% worth checking out, thanks to Liten and the other maintainers for their work
My only disappointment is that the Easychem booklet doesnt mention Left-4-ded as a possible chemical you can make for easier mutation chances. Koibean can be a pain in the ass sometimes, let alone getting Deus or Rainbow Weed.
you know ss14 makes me realise just how much stuff is in ss13 in the first place, SS14 seems to have been around for a fair amount of time and its STILL porting over features. its nuts man.
I'm sad at the Research Director losing the binary radio - used to have a roboticist that'd only be friends with the borgs and talk with them on that channel.
Yeah I think at the same time though, its cool that now only silicons are *supposed* to be able to talk on that frequency... Perhaps the RD could be given some special interface with the AI or something to allow them to request a status report on the station without all of command having to see it in their comms
Oh boy! The HoS shotgun is now linearly worse than an enforcer! I freakin love when special items get outclassed by standard equipment that crew can easily obtain at any point!
@@zankthegreat4291every time I've seen it used as such it tends to perform about as good as (or straight up worse if hos can actually aim) a regular disabler due to the spread and fire rate
RD losing binary is kinda weird, wonder if this is a prelude to Malf-AI, but otherwise lots of very cool changes. Botany getting round-start access to a bit of unstable mutagen and other botany chems is also great.
"You get an empty bottle, bottle of *potassium*, hydrogen, nitrogen, *phosphorous*, and ethanol, and then as well as a vial of radium and chlorine." Hmm, I think I'll grow some *sugar*cane. along with fly amanita, glassthistle, and pyrocotton.
Botany chemistry kit is great QoL for botany. I dont particularly play a lot of botany but i know its a little annoying that you have to take a roundstart trip to chemistry if you want to do mutations
Round start running to chem isn't even optimal, unless you're trying to make subpar mutant plants. It's best to improve the base plant so you get a 6 produce vulgaris that can be mutated into 6 produce deus, because once you're at deus you can't fix the produce count without a lot of extra work. That and chemists are not fans of you demanding stuff way too early, especially if you force the issue, that's how you get refused service. This doesn't mean you can't ask, just expect them to make it after they made the meds.
I really really like the Agrichem for botany. Sometimes medbay doesn't have a chemist, or they're stockpiling lots of lifesaving drugs and don't have time to make you the requisite bucket o' mutagen for having fun playing botany. Or, map specifically, it saves you the pain of walking the length of the entire station on Cog because Botany on Cog is on the complete opposite side of Medbay. I'd say I've been able to use Unstable Mutagen roughly half of the time, and I've only gotten to use stuff like Diethylamine twice. With the Agrichem kit, I should be able to use it every single round. Granted, it doesn't seem like it makes a lot of the stuff, but I think you can make 60 units of Diethylamine and 90 units of Unstable Mutagen. That's enough Mutagen to give Chemistry time to get settled with making their compulsory 15 jugs of medicine before having botany drop a bucket on their desk and point at it meaningfully. You can even make Left-4-Zed by yourself, though that cuts directly into how much Unstable Mutagen you get to make.
Having discounts was the most major thing the game was missing. Just for the reason you just listed that it makes you want to try out something that you wouldn't want to use ever. It opens up the game so much when players just have that option
