After over a decade in retail, I could write a book, but even through all that time, this is still my undisputed favorite story!
During and after high school I had a job in a local grocery store, I started out as a courtesy clerk (bagging, stocking, cleaning, pushing carts, etc.) and eventually I was given the opportunity to make more money by moving up to a food service department, and started my training as a bakery clerk/apprentice baker.
The work was more demanding, and there was a lot to learn in a short amount of time, but I liked it, and there seemed to be much fewer picky assholes there than working in the front of the store; well about three months or so into my time in the bakery, I had a woman come in asking to pick up a cake she had ordered. No problem. I try to look up the info she gave me, but no such name or phone number was recorded in our books. Immediately she flips the fuck out. Screaming about how something “WILL be done” to satisfy her, and “how fucking stupid do you have to be” not to be able to read her name. I stay calm, I point out to her that there are 3 of this particular store within about 20 miles, and if she called us using Google to search the number, alphabetically, we would’ve been the second store on the list, not the first. Another flip out, this time, calling us a “bunch of stupid cows” who are “too incompetent and simple” to understand a basic request, and better still, “how DARE” we be so bold as to “insinuate a customer is wrong!”
At this point my manager has even stepped in, as other customers have gathered to watch the onslaught, and she brings out our call book to show her that entire month’s orders, again, no such name or number shows up, therefore there’s nothing we can do. At this point the crazy bitch is red faced and on the literal verge of tears, she’s so angry; she slams her purse on the counter, digs out her phone, and loudly proclaims that she’s going to call her husband to come down there and put us in our place.
She puts the phone on speaker, and tells her husband with a loud, animated tone: “Tony, will you tell these MORONS at the (insert town name and store address/name) that we had a VERY important order to pick up today, and that they WILL make good on it, or you’ll be calling corporate to have all these PIGS FIRED!” The longest pause follows before her husband quietly interjects: “Babe. You’re at the wrong place, the order’s waiting at (first store) they just called...” I swear, all the color immediately drained from her face, and she shakily took her purse and left amidst a crowd of laughing, gasping, shocked customers. No apology, no explanation for her overreaction, just the most awkward, unsalvageable exit I've ever seen. Never saw the bitch again, but watching her play herself was sooooo gratifying LMAO

The best Karma incidents, in my opinion, always have the bad person running into a police officer. Like, seriously, I once was Skyping a friend and he was showing a street view (in LA I think) when a purse snatcher grabbed a wallet from a woman with a baby and ran across the street - only to get SLAMMED by a police car. It was hilarious, especially afterwards: the officer was rather overweight, and he gets out slowly and jogs to the man, worried since he just ran into him. Lady from earlier runs up yelling, and the criminal tries to get up, only to have a massive cop literally dive on top of him, flattening him instantly. It was the funniest arrest I ever saw!

At least in USA police seem to do half their job. In fucking Romania a girl calls 112 (911 basically) and reports she is about to get killed and that was kidnapped. Police basically did nothing for like 40 minutes trying to determine if call is phony or not, then drive to the house reported and again did nothing. Girl got sliced up in little pieces by the serial killer inside (his 2nd victim he confessed) - this happened yesterday, July 29th.

I worked at a Whole Foods. A woman was buying soup so I entered in the price of the soup and weighed it, then entered the tare(weight of container) of 5 or 6. The price was like $5. The lady complained that it was too pricey, told me to weigh it again, and that I must have put in the wrong tare. I insisted that I entered it all correctly, but when I checked in the tare book, I guess the tare was 4. I entered it correctly, said "I'm so sorry. You were right about the tare. The new price of your soup is $7." She got more upset, bought it and left. She should have stayed quiet😅

    • @melkiorwiseman5234
      @melkiorwiseman5234 5 років тому +135

In case anyone reading doesn't understand, the "tare" is the weight of the container alone, which gets subtracted from the total weight when the container has soup in it, so that only the weight of the soup contributes to the price.
The heavier the container, the less the soup weighs (and the less it costs) in proportion to the container. The lighter the container, the more the soup weighs (and the greater the cost) in proportion to the container.
So the first container weight was too high, making the soup cheaper than it should have been. Once the correct container weight was entered, the correct soup price was calculated, making the soup dearer.

Worked at a McDonald's during high school. Saw a lot of bad customers, but this is the only one that I saw get the best karma.
So it's a scorching hot day in August (106 degrees) and the drive-thru is absolutely packed. One truck pulls up that looks like a Hot Wheel car brought to life- Cool paint job, high suspension, and just about every add-on that you could put onto a truck. I'm taking orders, so I turn on my mic and say "Welcome to McDonald's, what can I get for you today?" He shouts back "HANG ON!! I need to get it just right!" He takes a little over FIVE minutes just to get the truck positioned so that it won't scrape anything when he pulls out. After that, he begins to order, but because the truck has a muffler, it's so goddamn loud that I keep having to ask him to repeat himself, which just makes him angry. At the end of the order, he calls be a fucking retard, and pulls through, up to my window (At this point there wasn't anyone in front of him- only a massive line behind). There, he proceeds to complain to my coworker and I about how the drive-thru is crappy, and how our either the equipment or the employees need to be changed to make it better. When I explain that his truck was loud and recommended that he shut it off briefly in the drive-thru, he went onto a rant, calling my coworker and I a bunch of bad names, and bragging that the truck "Was greater and cost more than anything we would amount to." Just as he asks to speak to my manager, the engine of the truck starts to emit white smoke. He turns to his dash, and says "Oh fuck!" He took so long to order that his truck overheated in the drive-thru. My manager comes just in time to see him sheepishly turn to us and ask for a large cup of cold water. In response, my coworker and I started cracking up, not caring if we were going to be fired or not, and my manager called him a tow truck. I got to witness this guy get his broken-ass truck out of the drive-thru by a mixture of driving and pushing, and watch him get an expensive bill from the tow-truck company since the truck was considered an oversized load.
    BEST DAY EVER 10/10

It was a son of a regular customer at the hairdressers/beauty salon I used to work in. She was a typical sweet old lady. He parked her wheelchair and she handed him money to pay and recommend a cafe if he didn’t want to wait in the hairdressers. He’s response “You’ll stop wasting my inheritance when your hair falls out from chemo” she starts crying, (I bring her tissues and sit next to her holding her hand) I say to him “ if you carry on being so mean to her she might leave your inheritance to a cats home” she giggled at that to him “Also we offer a range of beauty treatments here so she can come to see us for as long as she likes” he tried to storm out but walked into the glass door at a fair pace. Getting a cackle and a “Serves you right!” From his mother and “ ohh ho ho did you see his face, what goes around comes around, it really does” “I might give his inheritance to a cats home you know or to you” I laugh “ you couldn’t give it to me” her “okay
okay cats home it is” (I found a fifty pound note in my coat pocket with a note saying I’d have put in your hand but you’d have given it straight back, I don’t trust the others (that I worked with) to not take themselves if they saw me put it in your tip piggy bank. X

I worked at a small, family run farmers market. One day years back, we had a customer come in and try to buy some cauliflower. Normally, our prices were better than the big supermarket chains around, but that week for whatever reason, our prices were worse that week for cauliflower. The customer came up the checkout and tried to get us to price match, something our owner forbid us to ever do. After a few minutes of him trying to get a discount and us telling him that we were sorry and we couldn’t do it, he snapped at us and called us all “high school dropouts” and told us to get real jobs. He then stormed out. However, this guy wasn’t exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, because he walked back in a minute or so later and asked us directions to the closest Walmart. I gave him the directions and he left. I would have loved to see his face when he pulled up in the parking lot of the old, closed down one I sent him too, as opposed to the newly built one 10 miles in the opposite direction.

I with in a restaurant that is near a bunch of theatres/event centers/stadiums. So, any time there's a play/musical/event/sports game, we tend to get rather busy.
This one family came in one night, about 15 minutes before doors at the theatre (I think it was when Wicked was playing, they all kinds of blend together these days) and demands *IMMEDIATE* service from the already overworked server, saying they*need* to get to the theatre soon, so they need their food, and they need it *now*
The server tells them that there is currently 'about a twenty minute' average ticket time, and that their food will not be ready before they need to leave. Cue more screeching and invective from the customer, mostly about how they're the customer and are always right, 'I'm very important' (though never saying what they were connected to) and how dare we deny them service. (We weren't, up until she started swearing at the server)
Eventually they leave, and we assume that's the end of the story. After closing the kitchen, I head out to the bar and see a buddy who works at the theatre talking about 'this crazy bitch' and her family. Apparently, she hadn't even purchased tickets in advance, and started freaking out when they told her that the show was sold out. For the entirety of the engagement, and the last two tickets had been sold not 20 minutes beforehand.
Moral of the story: plan your outings, and leave plenty of time for things like crowded restaurants and long waits.
Oh, and don't be a bitch to people who are just trying to do their jobs, as it rarely ends well.

I used to work at IHOP (I was only there for about 2 months). I had a manager that would constantly yell at me claiming I was stupid, useless, etc. Truth be told I can actually learn things pretty fast so long as my anxiety doesn't act up (which isnt that often). My anxiety does have a tendency to act up a lot when it comes to making important phone calls though (this is important for later).
One night while I was working graveyard and I had 9 tables of 4-6 she went off on me again saying how I should be able to handle all of the tables by myself. She also said something along the lines of "use your brain dumba**." I had enough. Dispite my strong dislike of making official phone calls, I called corporate on her and then quit. It's the same with people who try to buy alcohol, tobacco, graphic video games, etc. underage (or who blatantly announce that it's for someone who's underage, alerting the cashier to what their plans are). It's like they think the store is selling things to all the other underage customers/enablers, then lying about a law when it comes to them because they hate them personally. Dude, there are literally signs in the stores saying what the law is! What is so freaking hard to grasp about that?

I'm glad other retail workers know the struggle of the 5p charge.. I have had a customer tell me 'we' should be paying for the bags and that they should be taking them out of my wages 🤔? Explaining that the point of the charging of single use bags is to encourage customers not to use them etc fell on deaf ears every. Single time. 'how do you expect me to carry this home without a bag then?' is another frequent one. Customers accusing you of entrapment into spending 5p on a bag. Being told that it's just our store doing this because 'Harrods didn't charge me for a bag'.
A few times I even explained that it cost more than 5p in my wages for the time it takes me to ask if they'd like a bag and ring it up, and that we donated any profits from bag sales to a nominated charity.
I just told customers to write to their MPs if the wanted the ruling changed.
Once when I had a massive queue I paid for a bag using my own card just to make a customer go away. I made a point of emphasising that this was my own money and I was on minimum wage but I would rather pay up if it meant she stopped yelling at me and left.

One time i went to this YMCA family camp and basically did archery the whole time even though my fingers were very frozen. I’m a very decent archer, and so the counselor in charge of archery gave me more than the regular amount of arrows since i shot a lot faster and more accurately then others at the station. This one small family started getting salty at me for either my skill or the amount that f arrows i had so they kept waltzing over to my target and pulling off a considerable amount of MY arrows. I was pissed but brushed it off and asked for more. THEN the kid started openly taunting me and shooting at my target. What happened next was amazing. On my next shot. I somehow split the kids arrow brave-style, and the bratty child ran to the instructor and started crying about it, to which the guy responded, “ why was your arrow on her target?” I honestly tried to keep the smug look off my face. Then this kid tried to shoot again, but he released the string wrong and it scraped the side of his face. he said "no no no, I haven't drank alcohol in three years."
then as if he flipped a switch he said "your dog needs to be put down." and became all around nasty.
It surprised me but I'm use to people getting belligerent when I'm doing my job so I ignored it.
The refinery security person thought he said "my dog just got put down" so she was saying how sorry she was.
That didn't last long when he said it louder pointing to my team.
As we searched his truck he started getting distraught then we found a beer bottle cap (this refinery is STRICT about alcohol) I took it to him and showed the security person then he said "its three years old"
I held onto it and went back to the car, where my partner had another cap that Iv never seen before.
I took it back and asked him if it's an alcohol cap he said "yes that's three months old" I looked at the security person and she raised an eyebrow.
As we kept searching he started crying saying "I'm fired" and "just fire me now" the security lady told him to calm down and said that they have to test him before anything can happen.

I was a supervisor in a tool store and we were closed for the night had already counted tills and made our deposit into the safe and shut tills down. Just getting ready to set the alarm when a car pulls up to the front door, doors are locked and it says our hours in big bold blue letters we had closed an hour prior. A woman gets out of the car and pulls on the door and I stand there with my arms crossed saying we're closed ma'am. She starts yelling saying I need to buy my dad a Father's Day gift. In a respectful tone I say I'm sorry I have already made my deposit and have shut the registers down. The cashier I was working with at the time was hiding in fear that we were going to get robbed (store was the only one in the strip that hasn't been robbed in a while). The lady starts yelling louder telling me I must open the doors and starts shaking the doors uncontrollably. I tell her to try walmart or meijer they're open 24 hours. She continued shaking the doors as a cop pulls up behind her and turns his lights on thinking she was trying to break in he jumps out pulls his gun and orders her on the ground with her hands out from her body. He gets her in hand cuffs and I then exit the building and tell the officer it was all a misunderstanding she was not trying to break in she's trying to buy her father a gift. He let's her go with a warning and says she needs to return to her car and leave the property. As she is going to her car instead of saying thank you to me for getting her out of jail pretty much she says in a snooty voice that she will be back in the morning to speak to the manager and get me fired. She then speeds away kicking up pebbles that hit the cop car. He pulls her over again and this time gives her a bigger fine I'm not sure why he didn't arrest her then. Fast forward to the next morning guess who's the manager on duty, that's right me. She comes in asks for the manager. My cashier radios me and I'm busy on a forklift I say I'll be up in a few minutes to have the customer in question wait and I will be on my way (I new it was her because it was the same cashier I worked with the night prior) I park the lift and head to the front by that time my boss had arrived from his meeting and had gone to the office without stopping to talk to the lady because he was not on the clock. As I am walking past my cashier towards the customer she sees me and her face instantly turns red. She starts yelling at me again and decided it was time to talk to my boss who is getting his paperwork ready in the office. In the warehouse. I tell her customers are not allowed in the warehouse due to safety reasons. She ignores me and goes to the office (the office is barely inside the warehouse and the door was open) she barges inside the office and starts yelling at him telling him I'm the shittiest employee and that the company needs to pay her fines turns out the fines she received in total were more than 3000 usd. He gets her to calm down enough to tell her that "Tyler is our best employee and what he told you is correct you were in the wrong. The fines are your fault we as a company are not responsible for them. The store closes at 8pm and once that time comes and the doors are locked we are not allowed to let anyone in due to company policy. You are now barred from the store and must leave if you return the police will be called and you will be arrested for trespassing." She did not leave and police were called, she ended up going to jail after arguing with police and refusing to comply and I got a raise. I guess we know who came out on top.

Had this guy roaming around our stores electronics section for about an hour or two. Every so often he would throw a random item into his cart and when anyone tried to ask him if he needed help he would tell us to "mind our own goddamn business" and that our being there was ruining his shopping experience among other things. He was angry and irate with any employee that was either working in electronics, or even just walking by the section. He had waited for a moment where no employees were nearby and, with a cart full of merchandise, took it into our back stockroom and ran it out one of our fire exits. He had an accomplice waiting in a black pickup truck behind the store. They apparently didn't have any real idea of our buildings setup or communication between the two as the one who ran out the fire door with the cart proceeded to topple down the few stairs present, spilling all the merchandise on the ground. The best part was the timing as it just so happened that a police officer was driving around behind the store making their rounds through the plaza and caught them in the act alarms blaring evidence all over the ground. Oh, and add on the fact that they were stupid enough to also have drugs in the truck upon search.

I had worked in a Chinese Supermarket a couple years back as a cashier at the age of 16, and let me tell ya, it really made me hate people...
Our supermarket didn't have those long conveyor belts that the other stores had, instead we had these short metal tables that could barely hold more than 1.5 mac books side by side. So we really relied on customers bagging the groceries themselves, or at least assist in bagging their groceries if they had a massive cart full of groceries.
One day, this middle aged woman comes up with a big cart full of groceries, I rang 1/6th of her groceries up, and they had already filled half of the metal table, so I gave her some plastic bags (plastic bags are free) so she could bag the groceries and put them in her cart while I rang up the rest of her groceries. I was hoping she'd start bagging them and putting them in her cart, but she didn't, so I bagged a few for her, expecting her to put them into her cart so I'd actually have room to ring up her groceries. But she just stood there, looking at me, as if she was expecting me to help her put the groceries into her cart... There was a really long line behind her, it was a Sunday, and it's always busy on Sundays. So instead of helping her bag more of her groceries, I just rang and piled up her groceries like a pyramid, said how much the total was, she paid, and I just started ringing up the next customer's groceries. The middle aged woman looked at me with a shocked face, I didn't say a single word and just kept assisting the next customer, and the next customer quickly bags their groceries and leaves while the middle aged woman was still there bagging her entitled groceries.
I ring up your groceries and put them on this tiny ass metal table, so you better be prepared to start bagging and putting them in the cart if you have a truckload of groceries, don't expect me to do all the work for you, cause in the future, I'd be replaced by a robot, and you'd have to ring up the groceries, and bag them all by yourself.

We have notebooks for 10 cents each but the max you can buy is 6, otherwise the rest are full price (that shit has caused me so much fit with costumers) anyway I ring her up and start scanning her things, it's like 1$ and something before tax. I ask her for her airmiles card, her email, etc normal things I have to do with every costumer but she doesn't even respond and keeps angrily asking me how much it is. So I tell her with tax its 2$ something and she. Just. Lashes out at me. She keeps saying I made her pay for more, that the taxes that were charged were my fault, anyway a whole lot of bullshit. I was still really new and so I start panicking and having a panic attack. Call my manager because she keeps saying I'm a trash employee and she wont stop. My manager comes and shows her that there were taxes to pay, at this point her bf arrives and starts getting angry as well. My manager finally explains to her that there are taxes to pay, period, and shes like oh finally someone that makes sense and hes like bitch that's what my employe just told you. Anyway she pays and gets ready to leave until my manager calls back to her. She runs out of the store so her bf stays behind to listen to my manager telling him that if he and his gf aren't more respectful they'll not be welcomed here anymore. The bf gets angry and storms off. A couple days later she comes back and let's just say she was a lot more comprehensive while I rang her up.

Worked at Pizza Hut for almost a year. I was taking a phone order when I overhear the start of an argument at the front counter. My manager joined in shortly before I finished the phone call. Apparently some guy was complaining that we hadn't given him extra cheese on his pizza. I remember taking that order and, looking at the pizza, it obviously had extra cheese. The guy honest to fuck pulls some sort of plastic measurement stick out of his shirt pocket and shoves it into the center of the pizza, continuing to argue with my manager while leaning down to look closely and point at the measurement lines on the stick. My manager gets tired of him and decides to give him an extra pizza so he'll leave.
The next sound the whole store hears is violently shattering glass. The guy had stormed out and thrown the door open so hard that it hit the edge of the brick wall outside. One of the team leads sprints outside as the guy peels out of the parking lot, somehow catching his license plate. Cops were called. That free pizza ended up costing him over $500.

    **TL,DR at bottom**
First day working at a bagel place, a couple walked in holding hands, the girlfriend was excited and said how it was their 1 year anniversary and that it was the last day of a 5-day get-away vacation at a nearby hotel to celebrate (this comes into play later) She orders a smoothie, and headed over to get it from the manager who was making the drinks. The guy ordered a toasted bagel and pointed to the pretzel bagel and said, "the one with salt."
I sliced and toasted the bagel, put butter on it and wrapped it and when he returned from filling his cup all the way with ice and soda, and I told him "here's your pretzel bagel, sir."
He started a tantrum that it wasn't a "salt bagel" and the baker stepped in and told him to back off and that it was the "bagel with salt"
He continued this until he realized everyone was looking at him like he was crazy- including his girlfriend- then he slammed his drink and the bagel into the trashcan (drink still 100% full) and walked out. The girlfriend felt so horrible and wanted to help clean up after him and I told her it wasn't her fault and to go treat herself out for something, and that she deserved better than him.
Just a heads up: refilling the ice machine and cleaning sugery reside off of a trash can isn't exactly as easy as people make it seem. But we managed to clean up 90% of the mess and just nicknamed him "salty guy"
2 days later, a small family of a dad, mom, a ~8 year old daughter, and a grandma walks in. The dad walks to the restroom as they enter and the rest of the family go ahead and order. We see the dad reappear from the restroom and we realize it's "Salty guy" with his wife and family.
When he gets to the counter with the rest of them, he asks for a salt bagel, to which the wife just looks at the the bagels and asks for the pretzel bagel. He looks annoyed and when they sit down, he tells her how he wanted a "salt bagel" not a "pretzel bagel" and the wife just looks confused and tells him that it was the salt bagel and to just try it, "I know you're tired after the trip to California this week, but lets try to enjoy this. We've never eaten here before."
Salty guy ends up spilling his wife's drink and he walks up to tell us to clean it up, but when a towel was handed to him by the manager--right in front of his wife-- and said, "Sir, we are still trying to scrub your mess off of the floor and wall from your last date with a girl 2 days ago. You clean it this time, not us."
His wife looked at him with pure lava and venom in her eyes, but she waited until the grandma sprinted the kids away for the dunk-n-donuts near by and everyone took cover. It was like a well-needed volcano went off and burned the H*ll out of him.
    **TL,DR**

Some of the best moments were (colleagues just told me this, I wasn't there when it happened) when other customers started defending our colleagues because they witnessed how other customers were rude to them. Sometimes, this would turn into a discussion between the customers. Loved this.

We had a family who would come into our target regularly. They were such a pain that our managers even hated them. They are always rude to employees talking down to us and calling us fucking idiots. One day the dad comes in. I notice a man waving out the corner of my eye . I don’t think anything of it. I didn’t know it was the father. Customers usually come and ask me if they need anything not wave me down. So I drop off some items at the front when he approaches me and starts cussing me out along the lines of “I’ve been trying to get your fucking attention are you fucking blind I could end you here and have you fired” he goes off on me anytime I try to cut in he just yells louder. My store manager sees this and asks him what he can do to fix this. The father says “Fire this employee for being useless and hire someone better” my manager says “sorry unlike you he’s actually important to our store. I’m gonna have to ask you to leave. I don’t want your family’s business anymore”
The guy was escorted out by our security and I was given like 20 minutes to relax. Honestly I was nervous back then very anti social I’ve grown out of it. If he tried it today I probably would’ve kicked his ass

The greatest thing happened yesterday that reminded me of this video.
I work at a grocery store, our express lane is set up so one belt takes your stuff to the cashier, once they scan it they have two belts on their other side where he customer has to bag their stuff. Fifteen items or less. Standard stuff.
So I'm on the express lane and this lady comes up and she tells me she's paying for half her order and then she has a second order. No big deal happens all the time, not a lot of stuff. I do as she says finishing the first transaction without a hitch, then I move onto the second. As I start sending stuff down the same belt I sent her first order down she stops me.
Karen: Your supposed to send that down the second belt."
Me: Sorry, but your other stuff is here and I need that side for the next customer.
Karen: I font care, put my second order on the other belt.
Now it was basically the same argument back and forth while I kept sending her stuff down the first belt when she demanded to speak to the manager. He comes down and I explain what happened while she's angrily paying and manager basically tells her what I did. That the second belt needs to be available for the next customer and she can deal with the first one. In an angry huff she grabs her bags and storm's out EXCEPT..... when she gets to the automatic doors they didn't open. The fucking doors were broken and ruined her dramatic exit!!! She had to stand there angry and embarrassed as one of our guys tried to fix them. It was amazing.

I work at a pet store lady was super impatient demanding I help her and being rude while I’m helping a different customer I told her “I’ll be with you in a minute” but still demanded I help her now. Not even two minutes later I go to help her, she wanted me (a very small and not strong girl) to take a really heavy cat tree box from the side steel I grab the ladder to get it down and tell her I’m going to grab someone to help me. She demands I get it to her now, whatever I go up the ladder to get it and the box handle rips off causing me to nearly fall off like ten feet down, I didn’t fall but the box was damaged. She immediately apologized and took the damaged box. I asked her if she wanted me to get the other one because that one was damaged and she said it was fine kept apologizing and ran off. Ha I was fine but it feels nice sometimes to make rude customers feel bad

I work at a campground resort that's park of an amusement park. We have lakeview cottages, non-lakeview cabins, and a ton of RV sites, some of which are considered luxury. When the reservations are made and before arrival everyone gets a confirmation email outlining what their arrival and departure dates are, the type of room/RV site they booked, reminds them requests aren't guaranteed to be fulfilled, what's provided, parameters, our pet policy, check in and out time, what tickets they purchased for the park on the reservation, etc. It's our golden ticket when guests get mad that they didn't get what they wanted. It's beyond satisfying to have someone yell at me and tell them "it was your responsibility to read the confirmation email and call or email us with questions or concerns." For some reason they can't comprehend that. Some people don't even realize they booked a handicap room (which are smaller to accommodate for the large bathroom)! My bosses are great too, and I'm more than allowed to refuse anyone service for a bad attitude. I'll help you out if I can, but if we're sold out your choices are to suck it up or leave, and you won't get your advance deposit back. (The confirmation email says that, too.)

One time when I was on my to work, I witnessed a hit and run accident. No injuries, but instinct said to stick around so I pulled into a nearby lot, called in to work to tell them what had happened and that I was going to wait with the guy for the authorities. While we were waiting, I thought I'd clean some debris from the road so passing vehicles wouldn't puncture their tires. Among the bits of plastic was a license plate... From the guy that took off! We happily handed it to the police when they got there and everyone had a good laugh when I told them about it when I finally got to work. :)

I was working at Starbucks, a woman came through the drive-thru and she was upset that her chocolate croissant was hard and “not warm enough.” She demanded that she get a free one. I didn’t argue with her, I had no intentions of arguing with her, and let her know that she can come up to the window for her free croissant. I told her the price for her drink, and she snapped at me saying the croissant is supposed to be free. I told her I didn’t charge her for the croisant, only the drink. She still asked for my manager because she didn’t think the price for her drink was correct because it was six dollars. When you come to Starbucks and you customize and add extra things to your four dollar drink, it could easily go up to six dollars. My shift manager comes and she asks if the drink should be that much. My manager read her drink back to her off the screen. She said yep that’s correct. My manager says yep, 6.34. She’s like “really?! Wow that’s crazy, they really charge you.” I’m just at the side smiling and nodding to her like girl what’d I say?

This is a very tame, short story. I was a waitress and was in the restaurants outside area to collect customers plates. (We collect plates while you’re still sitting there) I went to grab the plates, stacked them, and put the loose trash pieces under one of my dishes so it wouldn’t blow away while I was carrying the dishes back inside. A customer grabs a napkin, dabs the mayo off of her shirt, burps a wet burp into the napkin, and puts it on the tippy top of my plate pile. Before I could lift the plates off the table the wind comes about and blows the napkin right into her face mayo first. Lesson of the story is pretty much either let the waitress take and stack all of your shit in their own way or throw out your trash yourself in one of the numerous nearby trash cans.

Working at a pizza shop as a cook, woman came in complaining that her chicken tenders were plain and not buffalo (like she ordered it). An easy fix, just toss them with buffalo sauce real quick, but she demands we make her a new order for free and won’t leave the counter despite the long line behind her. Is yelling at the girl behind the counter, saying how she knows the owner and will get her fired. Owner comes in right after she says this, gives her a dirty look and says “fine, you’ll get a new order but you’ll have to wait”, tosses the original tenders with buffalo sauce and puts them on the warming rack. Makes the woman wait 30 minutes before she gives them to her. When she starts complaining about the wait, owner just looks at her and says “this is your only warning, gtfo of my restaurant right now or I’ll call the cops. I know the sheriff and I’ll get you arrested” (sheriff is her brother). Woman yells a few more obscenity’s and leaves
I didn’t like the owner very much, but she didn’t take shit from customers who were wrong and I respected that.

my brother has had customers either yell at him or be rude to him while ordering at the drive through but when they come up to the window to see a 6’3” dude standing there, they suddenly get all shy and barely say a word.
i’ve also had customers come in all angry, claiming that we forgot an item, only for us to find it and show them that it was in one of their bags. sometimes they’re “missing” an item that they didn’t even order but then they realize their mistake and begrudgingly pay for it.

6:49 My god I wish my boss was like that. We get crap people who think yelling and demanding impossible things will get them anywhere. We always tell them off in the most civilized way possible... even when they don't get the hint. I wish I could tell them to just fuck off.
The "being nice even when a costumer is a crazy bitch who yells at you" just has that something that makes you feel superior than them because you, unlike them, managed to hold your patience.

Work at a grocery store, usually when customers at this way the instant Karma is my store manger banning them from the premises for mistreating us and being assholes.
Though its usually said in a proper customer service way like. "Sir/Ma'am. You need to leave and you aren't welcome back for yelling at my employees."
Best part is when they try to call my manager's bluff and either not leave or try to come back. Manager is on a first name basis with local cops do to how many times he's had to trespass people who were banned. the look on their face when the cops show up and escort them out of the building will never get old.

I work at a grocery store. We have a machine in the store that allows customers to take all their change that they pile up and exchange it for a receipt that they can take to any register to get the full amount of change they had for exchanged for cash. Anyway, one day this dude comes to my register. I ring up the stuff he wants to buy. It came out to like $8.60. Not too expensive. The dude then drops a whole ziplock bag of coins on my register. He doesn’t count it, he just looks at me and says “take it from there”. I open the bag and my immediate reaction is to reach for the little quarters and dimes I can find. He says “no leave those, take only the nickels”. The whole freaking bag is 95% nickels. I told him about our coin machine in the store and he could use that instead but he said “no I’m okay”. after about 8 minutes I finally counted up $8.60 worth of all nickels. My hands were tainted silver and grey and my entire register was overflown with nickels. It was ridiculous. Every customer behind him was so agitated. Some left to other registers but the ones who already had their stuff on the register belt had to stay. I didn’t speak a word. I gave him his receipt and said “there you go” and he left with his 3 freaking items. I apologized to the next customer and even they were dumbfounded with how annoying that guy was. 10 minutes later I’m complaining about the situation that just happened to an employee and he then said “oh was it a big dude with a bag of change? Yeah he was walking outside and dropped his whole bag of change in the parking lot. His change went everywhere and I had to help him pick all of it up”

I didn’t work at this store, but I was an awkward 14 year old ftm, anyways there was a very long line and one cashier. A lady with a really big shopping cart filled with stuff was at the back of the line and starting talking to herself. Then she harshly moved her cart over and went in front of me and my friend. I was to awkward to say anything but my friend said, “yo lady! What brought you life to such a low point that you would cut in front of two 14 year olds at a dollar store?” My friend said I turned bright red, the lady glared at him in response but finished getting her stuff. She was still walking out when we got up and the cashier said “congratulations! You are the 100 customer today, you get a $50 gift card to use in our store! The lady whipped her hair around and looked at us. Then stormed off. Only to drop and destroy her milk right when she got inside. Since me and my friend had the gift card we walked around with our bags but looking for something to buy cause be where to lazy to go back. We saw the lady getting more milk and then cut the line again. No one said anything but when she was trying to pay, her credit card got declined.
So this was kinda a triple karma so yeah.

My aunt owned an Ice cream shop that I worked at in a small town, it was a very big tourist destination though so it got very over crowded in the summer time. Line out the door and a lady isn't happy with her pointed cone and keeps asking for a flat bottom cone, we only served pointed cones as ours were hand made in the shop. My aunt had these flat bottom cone lamps as decoration, the bottom was only flat so it would sit on a counter or shelf. The lady points to it and says she wants one like that and if we don't have any then we are false advertising. Her husband and everyone else behind her were growing more and more impatient as my aunt kept telling her it was just decoration and we didn't serve flat bottomed cones. Finally my aunt took the cone back from the lady and bit the bottom off to make it flat bottomed and said "here you go sweetheart, anything else?" Her husband almost died laughing and everyone else in line starting laughing too. The lady turned red and stormed off, her husband apologized for his wife before going out after her. All the customers that had been waiting and saw what happened told my aunt it was the funniest thing they had ever seen when they would finally get to the counter.

I work in fast food management. I had a customer lose his MIND at the window over cheese on his sandwich, demanded a refund. I refused bc he had been screaming at and name calling the teenage girls at the window. He jumped out of his truck and called the police, demanding they come to the store so he can get his refund. Of course, they dont have the authority to persuade company policies. He calls anyway. I go outside to give him his money bc he sped into a parking spot to wait for the cops. He snatched his $10 from my hand, and took off so fast he almost hit me. The cops pulled in at the same time, saw him do that, pulled him over in our parking lot, and gave him a ticket for reckless driving. It was awesome.

Worked at a bank and a very drunk woman stumbled in with her male friend and started demanding money. She was told she was in the wrong bank and didn’t have an account in our bank. She started screaming “Give me my F**king money!”. The manager told her to leave before he called the cops so she stormed out....right into the glass panel next to the glass door. She fell back onto the floor, got up and her companion held the door open for her and she staggered down the street. There was total silence for a few seconds then the whole bank erupted in laughter.
