      You would think the deeper keel and ridges in the CK1 would make it less playful but he’s saying the opposite. I’m confused lol

    I've only gone kayaking three times, rented kayaks. First time in Hawaii, had no clue at all what I was doing and didn't enjoy it. After watching kayak videos from Headwaters and Paddle TV, I realized I wanted to give it another shot. Tips from watching their videos, my second and third times on a kayak were like night and day compared to that first time. I had a blast and wanted to get a kayak. I knew sit on top was what I wanted. I was going back and forth between the Feelfree Lure 13.5 and the CK1. I demo paddled a Lure 13.5, and I really liked it, but watching your on river and lake videos on the CK1, I knew that was what I wanted. Thank you for the awesome videos, and I just ordered a CK1, and I cannot wait to get onto the water with it in the Spring up here in the Pacific Northwest. I'm definitely wanting to take it to Lake Crescent on the Olympic Peninsula. That lake is gorgeous.

    which would be best for just river floating and camping and a bit of fishing, more of a rec boat?

      CK1 is more on the ProFormance rec side for what you are looking for thinking that be better in the long run

    Been wanting to see you take one of these on a run like you did in the ex123. Looked a bit out of my skill level but fun to see how they handle for someone who can handle the boat.

    I'd love to see you take it down the same stretch of river that you did on your CK1 review... ..in order to compare it's ability to catch eddies and zip around the river and such. I realize that the CK1 is more designed for those tasks, but I still would like to see how well the Shoalie does in that environment by you. I do have and love both the LT and a couple of the CK1's. I may end up with a Shoalie if the stars align.. I really appreciate the maneuverability and being we cartop these to transport, the light weight of the CK1's.

    I am looking at a crescent kayak for deer hunting. Mostly flat water small lakes and some narrow shallow creeks I need to maneuver in. Need to strap some gear to it not a lot tho maybe 25-30 lbs and I want to be able to easily load and unload in the back of my truck. which one would u recommend for this application? Thanks

    Just got a Shoalie. Have an UL already. I’m glad those are the 2 I have; they do a good job of covering all my bases. Only one I debated was Crew to have the kids ride with me. Love Crescent and all their yaks though.

    I have a CK1 and a ultralight. I really enjoy both for different applications. Ultralight is usually a quick fishing trip by myself with just the minimum. The CK1 for longer trips and more gear. Trying to figure out how to fit the Shoalie in the rotation 😄

    Thanks for the Reviews!! I need to go upstream in small rivers for fishing (not white water, but occasional swift current)...how are the crescent kayaks for that? I would like to be able to do it without working myself to exhaustion. 6'4 260. I currently use a 13 foot solo canoe...but...it's getting time to replace that and I would like scuppers.

    • @WadeHarrison

      For sure the CK1 is the go to for moving water both are good at it but the Ck1 just handles it better

    Thanks for the informative video. I’m looking for a kayak for saltwater fly fishing and both of these are on my list. The features of the shoalie are nice but the weight of the CK1 is appealing. Sounds like the shoalie is more stable for standing and casting. But Does the cut out for the catch board on the shoalie get in the way when standing?

    • @WadeHarrison
      @WadeHarrison  2 роки тому

      yes, Shoalie more fishing based then the CK1

  • @flushot6513

    So having some rocker helps with riding up over bigger waves and do moving waters

    • @WadeHarrison
      @WadeHarrison  Рік тому

      Yes, It keeps water from coming over the bow and helps it go over rocks and waves but will also slow it down and makes it harder to keep straight.

    im new to kayaking iv started out with cheaper fishing kayaks( ozark trail angler 10 aka sun dolphin) they where light and easier for me to move and said they could do what i needed them too fishing and camping but iv been out on them a few times just playing around and learning how to paddle them and i already realize they are not going to work for more then paddling around or very minimal fishing. I already want to up grade and crescent has caught my eye im really loving the Shoalie and think it has every thing i could ever want or can be modified to do ,but i need two kayaks and not sure i can handle the cost of one let alone two i thought for the second one may be the ck1 or the lite tackle but cant decide , i really like the ck1 but hate their is no internal storage! the other thing is im 5'3 hauling any of these would not be easy for me and i would either need help or extra stuff like carts ect. i have issues just getting my two 44 pound ozarks on my jeep jl now with out help lol i think i see a trailer in my future lol

      The Ck1 is a well rounded design and there are a couple cart options out there the one that I like the best right now is the blue dot outfitters here’s a link opening it

    Hi Wade, new subscriber, really like your reviews. I fly fish and at times want to stand to cast and/or sight fish. I fish slow rivers, ponds, small Lakes. CK1 vs Shoalie vs. LTII--which one will be most stable for standing and casting? I am leaning towards CK1 because it appears to be quite stable and also the added benefit of being a great grab and go boat at only 60Lbs vs the other 2 being 75Lbs. I also am 5'11" at 210Lbs. I don't take tons of gear but just want to make sure I choose the boat best for my size and any added gear weight. Look forward to hearing from you.

      Take a look at the new Kcraft as a fly fishing I think you you like that open platform but out of these you mentioned I say go LT2

  • @LustigWoodworks

    I have a CK1 and a Lite Tackle ... love both. The CK1 is my go-to for fishing or short trips due to its lighter weight, better weight distribution in terms of where the handles are and being more balanced when loading and unloading. CK1 and Lite Tackle are both great in rougher flat water, the bigger nose up front cuts waves and keeps things steady. Lite Tackle is a better hauler of gear for camping or day trips and moves a bit faster due to its length. Definitely keeping both!
