This review and your river review of this kayak was what led me to wanting to get the CK1. Bought it last January, and finally had a chance to get it on the water this last weekend. Was a blast! I'm still new to kayaking, so can't wait to get out once a week for rest of the summer and early fall, just learning how to kayak and grow in it.
I've narrowed it down between this & the Jackson Bite for my first kayak. 6'2, 225lbs. Gonna use it mainly for lake, & calm water big rivers. I wonder how much faster this is compared to the bite?
Really enjoyed your reviews on the CK1. I got one last summer in large part because of them and absolutely love the boat. And still love watching the reviews, especially when I can't get on the water - makes me feel like I'm there. Thanks!
So if I can get the off the water handling down I should keep my lite tackle seems to do good in what chop I got into for first real time on water love that boat just 75lbs is not a fan
Hey Wade. I’ve been kayak fishing a while, but mostly on pedal kayaks. What length paddle are you using on your CK1? I already had a 240, but I’m still getting wet from the drips on my new CK1. I have to paddle with a very conservative side stroke to keep the drips outside the boat, and I’m trying to figure out if it’s my form or the equipment. Thanks
Great video as always. Ive watched alot of your videos while deciding on a kayak. I know you've also paddled the Native Falcon 11 and said it was quick. On flat water what paddled faster between the Falcon and the CK1? I think I'm down to those two, but some of the Falcons features may be more of what I need. Just curious on the paddling speed between the two. Thanks!
Great overview. Do you think this could work for a one man throw in the bed of the truck and go to the lake for a quick afternoon trip? or is the craft too big that? Also do you this thing would be nice in flat water?
Hello, in your opinion would this be a good kayak for predominantly lake or would I be better at looking at different kayaks? The weight and open deck appeals to me but concerned that maybe it won't be the most stable. For the past 10 years I have fished out of a perception tribe.
Really if going with just lake and ponds all the time i would push you more towards the Native Falcon I did a review of that one also check below 👇 ua-cam.com/video/5azSkZyyb2k/v-deo.html
Do you think this would have enough room for an 80 pound lab to sit comfortably or even lay down. I'm only 5'3". Unfortunately, nobody has them in stock locally and I'd have to order and have delivered. Hoping to get a better idea of just how big the deck actually is before I take the jump. Thank you.
The CK1 all the way the UL is way to small for you at that weight it’s narrow and no where near as stable the CK1 is about the same price and is a all round better kayak I have owed the UL and the CK1 is a big improvement on that platform
@@WadeHarrison Thank you! Def will be upgrading. I bough the Sun Dolphin SS for $159 at Dicks, and we just went out on Sat and loved being out on the water.
I am looking forward to your opinion of the boat in moving water. I have had mine out a handful of times now but twice in the river. I bought it to be my backyard river boat and I love it out there. I had been taking my Lite tackle at the higher flows and was running it fine but the CK1 is soo much easier to turn on a dime or even stop LOL
Thanks for the question yes I’m actually going to do a full walkthrough and on water of the EX I have mine that I have done some videos on but nothing like informative I will make that comparison I’m the video thanks for watching
I took this one down to the three sisters springs and crystal river in Florida early in the year and it was perfect there and did some easygoing surfing in it. Works perfectly in that
Yea loving my ck1 man 👍 It really glides across the water and I don't have a ton of kayaking experience as this was my first kayak I've owned but I was able to stand up in it and fish comfortably. Now Im an athletic guy so that helps but it's still impressive. Also I have a aqua bound manta ray Hybrid paddle that is working well but I do have some fatigue and I'm an in shape guy (I'm sure technique has a lot to do with it) but I'm already looking into one of these Werner shuna or camano paddles. Trying to decide what one to go with. 🤙
Dude you will not go wrong with a Werner yeah the upfront cost is high but because it’s a fishing / rec style is will last forever. I highly recommended it
I also have a LT and I still see the use for that boat but dam this one fits my paddling style and is so versatile it’s going to make it very difficult
Another thing that came up was maybe adding some of the knee straps ...... I have never used them but it seems like you would have more contact with the boat 🤷♂️
So let me ask you guys something. Is it normal to have new kayaks with scratches on them? I know it's a kayak and that will eventually happen anyways but I have a new ck1 that has some scratches and some carve marks. Nothin major just looks like it happened from transport. Is this normal?
dude for sure i like seeing scratch's it shows use these new rotomolded kayaks can take a ton of abuse without cracking so river use is going to add scratch's but trust me when is say it can take it buddy
Hey wade this may be a dumb question but how are you securing the bungee around your rods that sit parallel to the water on the sides of the kayak? I tried doing the same with my ck1 but couldn't quite get it
So since you've paddled the UL, LT and CK1. Do you prefer any of them overall? Your thoughts on the Lite Tackle two years ago helped convince me to purchase one, and I love it. The CK1 seems pretty amazing for a 60lb 11' yak, and I'm tempted to pick one up once the initial demand cools down. But not sure I'll part with the LT just yet. Great videos man. Cheers!
The LT is better in open water like those long cross lake paddles the LT is faster and feels about the same on stability but lacks the nimble feel of the CK1 I do love the internal storage of the LT was not that big of a fan of the UL it’s good boat I just thought it was lacking in a few areas and the CK1 fixed that in my opinion there’s The perfect combo is LT and CK1 there’s day I could easily paddle either
I love that I’m learning kayaking techniques while learning about a kayak I’m researching. So much great information. Thank you.
Hey thanks for watching Gabe

Thank you for the paddling tip, very helpful.
Glad I could help
Great review. CK1 is easily at the top of my list for my next kayak. But just FYI, that wasn’t a gar, but an Eastern Chain Pickerel.
Great boat and yeah, another guy told me what it was I have caught a gar since this video and now I can check that Pickerel off the list also.

I never paddled the bite but looks good and have you looked at the crescent LT 2
@@WadeHarrison I just checked it out. Looks like a nice one! Thanks for responding & u make the best kayak vids by far.
How would you compare the stability between the CK1 and the SUP+?
Drastically different crafts to compare
@@WadeHarrison is one more stable then the other? Primary or secondary

Mine is a adjustable up to 260cm I still get some drips on me time to time but the Werner’s drip rings are very good

Speed yes the falcon has this beat and it has more actual fishing features but me personally overall I like the CK1 for all round paddling
@@WadeHarrison ok great, thank you!

For sure the prefect throw and go
@@WadeHarrison How would you think it compares to the new Primo , as it pertains to my previous question and large lake performance?
Very similar I feel the promo is a smaller CK1 in a way

that wasnt a gar you first caught......lol.....love your reviews, wish you could do a review on the jackson cruise 12 angler.

yes the big open deck for sure!
Nice review. That was a Chain Pickerel by the way. Some folks call them “Jacks”.
Wow thanks I had no idea I just looked it up your right

I’m 6’3” ... would the leg length be any different than the lite tackle? Just for reference how tall are you?
It’s the same In the deck area at 6’3” you will have no problem
Oh I’m 5’11”
I'm 6"4 and I have 3 clicks left on the braces.
How do you think this Kayak would do in the gulf around the Tampa Bay area?
I took this one down to the three sisters springs and crystal river in Florida early in the year and it was perfect there and did some easygoing surfing in it. Works perfectly in that
Great paddling knowledge and techniques 💪
Thanks and having such a smooth paddling nimble preforming boat makes it so much easier that’s for sure
Thank you for video! Currently have 2 LT's and have been debating swapping one out for a CK1.

240cm Werner it’s adjustable to 260cm if I’m in a higher seating boat I go longer
cant wait to see a video of a river paddle, im 50/50 between this thing and a LT but will 100% be getting one of those two in the next few weeks.
