As someone who transitioned from Call of Duty to Overwatch, I'd argue that the Overwatch community is the softest, most delusional, and yes, kinda gay community out there. It's honestly pretty gross seeing people from unstable backgrounds trying to push their questionable thoughts onto impressionable kids and make them think it's cool to be like that. This really needs to be stopped at some point.

If your true self is toxic and berating people perhaps it is you who could grow for the better. Expressing frustration doesn’t need to come at the expense of others and so people shouldn’t be banned for just saying fuck, but fuck you Rein lol. You could say “rein swap or play safer” but do y’all? How is it usually worded by such hostile people and why do people NEED to accept that? Why can’t the action change instead of the reaction?

Imo, bad chat moderation is worse than no chat moderation at all.
If somebody's toxic, you can personally mute/block them, but Blizzard bans people for swearing, we can't do anything to fix that.
If Blizzard removed the option to report for toxic chat and instead just had a robot auto-ban people when it detects slurs being typed, that would be better than what we have now
I think I'm just done with OW now. It's been my go-to multiplayer game for years. But it's gone so downhill, and THIS is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I don't wanna support a game where I'll get banned if I say "shit I'm sorry". Goodbye.

Real af no one talks in game chat now . They didn’t before but now it’s dead af
I played Overwatch since 2017, I had thousands of hours on my account with thousand dollars upwards. I played everyday and loved this game. I was silenced for abusive chat and while I have never used slurs, calling someone dogshit and trash, I can accept is not acceptable. There after I was suspended for two weeks for venting in chat and calling out players on my team, I appealed and was denied, 3 days ago I was permanently banned for calling out my team and I insisted I never used any inflammatory language. I only got a bot reply to my ticket. All that, just gone without a second thought or even a review from them. I can accept that calling players out may be unacceptable in which case a suspension? But a permanent ban feels extremely excessive. I have only ever been suspended once before.. it feels hopeless.
meh join the club. Take it as a sign and leave the game to die on its own. I think they are trying to kill the game to be honest.

@@NanaHoneyB I respect any attempt to reduce swearing, but it has to be personal. Blizzard trying to police online chat is so strange, I can't think of any reason to do this. Blizzard is acting bizarrely traditional conservative in the worst way, for no reason, unprompted, for no possible monetary/PR gain. Granted, the swears in-game are mild, but what motive could Blizzard even have for this?
What really sucks about all this is that people just don't bother trying to communicate and win. They're too afraid of getting wrongfully suspended. So now we get completely silent voice chats in a competitive, team oriented game.

Because that is something they let their bots go over. No matter how big the company, with so many people and so many different things that could get you banned, or that need technical support, you will never have enough people to answer everyone, so the main bulk will be talking with a bot. Have you guys ever read 1984 or watched Demolition Man? Also those CoD lobbies back then were sort of an outlet for people to cut loose, blow off some steam. That's were thick skin was grown, keep taking those away and all that shit is going to slowly spill out into day to day activities for some people. Video games don't make people violent (physically or verbally), society does that. Once society starts pushing into spaces they don't really belong, sticking their noses in, and start policing how people talk or think... shit is going to hit the fan. Eventually all hobbies and activities will be infiltrated and warped beyond recognition for the sake of controlled inclusion and representation.
A bit of a rant but we all see more and more examples of companies and brands shifting in directions that are opposite of their core foundations that we knew and loved. They are throwing away passion and integrity for quick and easy profits by chasing whatever the newest fad or social wave that is occurring. That's why live service has been pushed so much, all the rushed updates will be trying to keep up with the new social "norm" rather than making amazing stories, characters, games, movies, etc.
A.I. will make this entire process easier for these companies. Winds of change are a blowing...
understandable, but honestly overblown. Sure that trend is noticeable, but people are not totally dumb (i know. shocker, right?) All it needs for you to do is just openly say: "Fuck this. This is not what i liked about [insert Company here]" and either search for an alternative, OR find others to make that alternative. it does happen, even though it's not so noticeable.
When it goes to an Extreme the important thing is to not be contempt with how things changed. That is true for both sides of the extremes.
@@Desgaroth I don't think people (the players/consumers/fan base) are dumb, they see what the companies are doing and are beginning to push back. I think the companies are making dumb decisions for listening to and hiring people to push DEI into nearly everything that gets made these days.

A fan of the product/company and what they used to stand for is going to scream their lungs out to go back to what made the company "Rockstars".
Anyone who joins a community needs to learn how that community functions and what makes it special, if it isn't their cup of tea then they should be the ones to go and find their ilk. Not begin dictating to the community how it needs to change in order to fit their ideals, morals, fantasies, etc.

We should be able to say whatever the fuck we want. Block people if you don’t wanna hear what they say.
Blizzard bans Durpee for mild cussing, but does LITERALLY NOTHING about players being OPENLY RACIST, HOMOPHOBIC, XENOPHOBIC, TRANSPHOBIC, etc.
They do LITERALLY NOTHING when people discriminate, but ban someone for slurring.
Maybe you deserve to be discriminated against.
I’ve reported people for that stuff and I get a lot of messages saying action was taken, this ban def went too far though
@@donovan4222 Nope, you are part of the problem as well.
@@BlackamusJones ?? What problem?
@@BlackamusJoneswow, you are stupid💀
finally someone made a video on how soft gaming is now. Ive been called everything under the sun while gaming and I either laugh or ignore it, but got damn im not letting it affect me IRL.
that’s not what the point of this video was. I think we have bigger problems here - that being your media literacy/basic comprehension
Oh, Sam, watching your video on the softness of gaming culture was a revelation. It’s heartening to see someone with such profound emotional fortitude guiding the rest of us. Your ability to stay composed and rational, never swayed by sentiment, really sets the standard. We should all strive to match your unwavering toughness in the face of adversity. Keep showing us how it's done!

Banning problems are the worst on Xbox, it didn’t even take me getting reported, I just sent a voice message and all I said was a f bomb and I got 2 strikes for the same message 😭
Just got suspended the other day. Same non-response when I asked Blizzard CS same thing. Just citing a vague article with several causes for suspension. Pretty sure it's becuase I called someone "dumb" as I don't cuss and I don't use voice chat. After the suspension, strongly thinking about turning off all social functions in the game just so this OW1 beta, played since launch, more money than I care to say into this game, player can enjoy what's left of this game these days, without losing my account.
Best part: I was endorsement level 5 before getting banned. Crazy world ruled by petty overlords. Gaming has to change.
I saw on a noobhunter video someone got banned for actually being nice. He said gg 💀
This channel has become as soft as Blizzard.
These people need to grow up
Why is being mature being toxic to y’all tho
@@nailinthefashionyour face says it all 💀
@@nailinthefashionya ur def the guy mass reporting people for cussing in game chat 😂 pfp says it all
@@MikeOxtinks see what I mean? Toxic masculinity, you’re in a cult that dictates how men should be. I wear blush AND lift weights AND wear skirts AND shoot guns. It doesn’t need to be so rigid or mean but here you are showing me who you are.
@@tclfan0180 cussing no, but trolling and insulting me excessively? Of course dawg. You can tolerate whatever you want but when I’m the only one with less than 5 deaths but they’re yapping away, yes, I smash that button, and guess what? I hope y’all mature and learn how to express yourself in a more constructive way cuz even your reply right now judged my appearance in the most 50s style homophobic way. Completely validates my opinion
Either everything is safe or nothing is safe. Because who is to decide what is safe
They've already signed their end contract given the fact that pissard (blizzard) issued a thousand year ban to a WoW player. And to make matters worse for the overwatch, there are ai powered hacks that are undetectable and can make the hacker look like they're high level players
This is why I don't use the internet much anymore. It sucks having literally everything you say and do be recorded, monitored, and censored. Now with this new UA-cam censor I'm not even watching UA-cam much anymore. The real world is just so much more fun now than gaming lol. Videogames are a chore that have been infiltrated by people who don't care.
UA-cam Censor? Do you mean they have to be censored in their videos now if so I agree it's so dumb
@@MRPOPMUSIC2014nah most of your comments you post are now deleted and censored by youtube. Its sad what the internet has become. Its on the edge of just being completely useless. Even google censors all search results. You only get to know what they want you to. Useless.
We have to normalize bullying the game devs at this point
That's the downside of gaming going mainstream. While the social stigma for being a gamer is mostly gone, now the normies have taken over and everything is catered to them.
The problem with this is that now both sides are TERRIFIED of using chat. Aggressive people don't chat to avoid band and soft babies don't chat in fear of getting called the N word out of nowhere.
I made a sexual joke with no hard words and got threatened. I told em they might as well also report me to the police while they're at it and I would just go play helldivers 2. bro backed off. For some, its a power trip move.
This is strong “I’ll take my business elsewhere!” To the cashier energy
@@donovan4222 More of, “you have no power here.” Like imma beg someone to not report me because my account may get banned or get a warning. Specially since the joke was a very crude but not outlandish joke. Samito is right, ppl are soft.
I also blame Reddit because it coddles these types of soft players and gives them a platform. I’d rather go back to 2009 gaming and just mute people I don’t like than risk a ban for casual words. Honestly I could care less about bad words, even slurs don’t bother me. Just keep the real life threats out. Honestly it’s a safer bet and you get less false reports. These same people turn off profanity filters but report people.
I was banned for two weeks once and most recently banned for a month. So guess what I do now? I don't talk, I don't type in chat, I don't say a peep. It's the only way I can keep my main account from 2016 safe. The horror stories of people losing their accounts they've had for years is insane. So now I don't communicate in a team-based game that benefits from communication. Fun times, Blizzard.
Society and gaming has become soft. Good times create soft men, soft men create hard times(current), hard times create strong men(near future). But for the time being, competition comes w some shit talking. People need to grow up and stop basing everything off of feelings and take some hits every once in awhile. That’s how people learn/grow.
trash. I’m sorry people don’t want to get called slurs when they’re online. There are a multitude of people that go online, including children. Moderation is needed - in the case of this overwatch player getting banned for saying the s and f word, i don’t agree with that.
taboo to have an opinion with freedom of speech...NO THE FUCK IT ISN"T.
Yup I’m on my 3rd suspension and like Sam said I didn’t even type in chat. Also requested the reason for my suspensions and they never emailed back… so unfair and easy to abuse
If overwatch is supposed to be kid friendly to the point we can’t swear, then honestly the pride flags shouldn’t be there either
@@iSuckAtGamesGG lol, maybe I’ll make my next game a pillow fight with zombies or something. (For reference I’m recreating zombies from cod in Unity) mostly for fun and as a testing ground to see what features work and don’t work before I make a game with more than just one map

Preventing harmful language is a fine line. Stepping over that line means preventing speech. We are seeing it everywhere.
You can get banned for saying fuck in chat but not spamming the n word on voice. Make it make sense.
