For those confused about the lyrics and the POV's.
The first verse is the client, the second one is the pimp, and the third one the police officer.
Basically, all of them exploit her but they all justify it in different ways.
The clients hides behind his loneliness, and how hard affection depriveness makes it okay to "look for a little tenderness from time to time". The irony here is when right after he says that he likes to insult (no tenderness) her and that he's probably his best client (because he goes to her so often).
The Pimp hides behind his role of protector. He despises being hated by everyone when he's the one giving prostitute money and security.
Again, the irony shows up a few lines later when he says it's okay to rip them off of their money (profit's percentage shares being very inequal), and his security suddenly turns into a trap.
The Police Officer hides behind the law. He first seem understanding. "Just like you (the prostitute) are doing your job, I'm just doing mine (patroling)." Just like the others you see him finally showing his true sentiment toward her when he insults her and her dignity, while adding that she should find a real job.
I was also quite confused on the first time I read the lyrics, although I speak French. And that's because there are a lot of lines that could also be pronounced by the prostitute (the first time line, the feeding line, the job line, etc..) which is completely intentional. This whole text is laced with uncomfortable parallels and ironies, serving one clear message: why is it only the prostitute that's being the first one blamed when all fours play a role in this system. Stromae takes the role of a prostitute's son in the MV and chorus and gives her the best and most impressive funeral, turning the tables on how deserving she is and should be respected for serving the country and their men.

Oui, exactement! J'ai toujours porté haut en estime les travailleurs et travailleuses du sexe parce que ça reste un groupe de métiers dangereux pour ces personnes (risque très accru d'abus et de violence physique et sexuel, d'agressions), des métiers qui peuvent vite nuire à leur réputation, des métiers qui ne leur permettent pas le plus souvent d'être déclaré donc qui ne donnent aucune aide pour la retraite ou la couverture santé. Certains (pas tous bien sûr) vivent dans des situations précaires, d'autres n'ont vraiment pas (ou alors très peu) le choix. Tout ça et les gens continuent de les dégrader, de les insulter, de les regarder de haut, de les juger sans vraiment connaître les situations de ces personnes

Ha, je prends cette chanson comme un hommage à la République qu'on crache dessus comme une pute. D'ailleurs tout l'imaginaire autour montre un esprit dictatorial qui enterre les restes de la mère patrie.

Stromae tiene canciones geniales que combinan una musica pegajosa, una letra que mezcla la crudeza del mundo con un no se que que hace que parezca algo bello, y unos videos bastante originales y entretenidos. Yo la verdad conocía solo Alors on Danse y nunca le había prestado mucha atención (hay un video de un "making of" que es bastante entretenido), pero hoy me dio por escuchar otras canciones y la verdad es que el tipo es un artista espectacular.
I am very glad that Stromae has taken breaks and hiatuses when he needed them. Not only because his own mental and physical health benefit from it, but it gives him time to recharge and put himself fully into every new piece he makes. And the quality is stellar every time because of it. This was absolutely worth the wait, and I think I speak for most of his fans when I say that we’d rather wait every couple of years if it means a healthy and happy Stromae can provide his usual high quality art, than push him into regular releases that damage his mental health and compromise his artistic integrity.

I think this because his line doesn’t change he states that’s his mom and his proud. His sympathy doesn’t change while others do. His giving his eulogy at her funeral by telling her story truthfully.
