This guy is so unique, I first heard of him 8 years ago from a group of French kids at an International school I used to work at in Miami. I love his music because it takes on deeper topics than the usual pop/modern songs. I think it's so amazing, because I've been looking for music like his for a very long time. @@cocoluft That's interesting, in England when we say things like "ridiculously good" we just mean that someone/something is much better than we thought it could be, for example if we said "You're a ridiculously good singer" it would be a higher compliment than saying "you're a very good singer", I guess it's used in a similar way to "extremely" when referring to good or bad things, though we still retain the meaning of it when using it in sentences like "That's ridiculous"

As french, I feel honored that KEXP has invited such a wonderful African-Belgian-francophone artiste. I just only hope that people touched by Stromae (out of the showbiz industry today and Fashion designer entrepreneur now) will try to understand not only the lyrics of his songs, but also his own story through his songs as being borned in Rwanda in Africa at the time of the genocide. I love how he embraced his European heritage and acknowledge how he is embraced as a Belgian by other Belgian regardless of color.
Every single performance he does, he gets completely into the character and story. You can tell he is really passionate about his work and I love that about Stromae.

This guy is so unique, I first heard of him 8 years ago from a group of French kids at an International school I used to work at in Miami. Their French teacher was playing the song and video papaoutai and I was in shock, even though I didn't understand the words I had tears in my eyes. I'm 64 and I love Stromae!

I think it's so amazing, because I've been looking for music like his for a very long time. I always thought to myself, "Why can't music be about something other than love and relationships." Those are great! And I love love, please don't get me wrong. I just feel like there are other things that are important than the shallowness and self-centeredness of some relationships.

So even if it's paired with good adjectives like ''You're ridicoulously good, amaizing'' to us it will always seem like that good or amaizing thing wasn't good in a serious way but more in a so bad its so good way, like it made you laugh and it's good because of that.

@@cocoluft That's interesting, in England when we say things like "ridiculously good" we just mean that someone/something is much better than we thought it could be, for example if we said "You're a ridiculously good singer" it would be a higher compliment than saying "you're a very good singer", I guess it's used in a similar way to "extremely" when referring to good or bad things, though we still retain the meaning of it when using it in sentences like "That's ridiculous"

This guy is my favorite French speaking person. He just makes me want to learn French language so I can truly enjoy His art. Formidable is a personal song to me. Every time I have to leave my Love in the plane I get drunk and listen to Formidable 9 hours non stop. I've watched this at least once a month (usually 3 times back to back lol) since I found it... this performance exudes everything I've always loved about Stromae's brilliance.
Stromae is a genius. That was so good. He is a 100% artist. His songs make sense. He doesn't just make money, what he does is Art.
He has an amazing voice live and seems to be a really cool and thoughtful dude too. So many singers have great songs but are terrible live. Not Stromae - I'm definitely going to see him in concert next time he comes through NY.

one of my life goals is seeing him live
he is really good, I saw him years ago just after the release of ''after on danse'' in 2009. it was such a small space with only a few hundreds people in my hometown in Brittany and I paid 10 euros at the time. He was formidable :)
