I love that they played "Last December". When I saw the title "SANTANA TRIBUTE TO PRINCE" I was thinking please don't be another version of "Purple Rain". Carlos is obviously a true appreciator of Prince's music to pull a deep cut like this.
+Joey Day True! Although, Benny Rietveld, at this same concert, did an exceptional PR solo bass tribute to Prince. Have you seen it? Benny played bass on the 1984 Purple Rain tour in Sheila E's band.

Cool, Well if you have to copy someone those two are the ones you should emulate. All great artists build off of the ones that came before them...what would Beethoven be without Mozart to precede him or Mozart without Bach...Bach changed everything...
Santana is probably one, of only a handful of artists WORTHY to perform in honor of Prince. Both brilliant artists. The vocalists here also did exceptionally well. Thanks for a beautiful tribute and acknowledging Prince.
@@s.a.k.57 Prince said he thought he, himself, played more like Santana and he used to cover Santana before he got signed. But Prince had many influences, too many to attribute to one. He always credited Joni Mitchell.
The Rainbow Children to me was the most meaningful album with high level of musical balance, originality and integrety. I'm so glad Santana appreciates this.
One of my favorite memories was seeing Prince in a little club jamming after a concert in the wee hours of the morning and he brings out Carlos to jam with him on Erotic City back in the 90's!
Great song on an often forgotten about great album "The Rainbow Children" I think its the album closer. To me the best song on there. Thanks Carlos for the love and respect you showed to Prince, his music and his fans by doing this!

From one legend to another. Oh how I love my Prince and Carlos. I got to see Carlos once back in 1976. I was age 17. I'm the same age as Prince. But I never got to see my Prince in concert.

Prince - Last December lyrics From “The Rainbow Children” album
If your last December came
What would you do?
Will anybody remember
To remember you?
Did you stand tall?
Or did you fall?
Did you give your all?
Did you ever find a reason
Why you had to die?
Or did you just plan on leaving
Without wondering why?
Was it everything it seemed?
Or did it feel like a dream?
Did you feel redeemed?
In the name of the father
In the name of the son
We need to come together
Come together as one
Did you love somebody
But got no love in return?
Did you understand the real meaning of love?
That it just is and never yearns?
When the truth arrives
We'll be lost on the other side?
Will you still be alive?
In the name of the father
In the name of the son
We need to come together
Come together as one
In your life did you just give a little
Or did you give all that you had?
Were you just somewhere in the middle?
(Somewhere in the middle)
Not to good, not to bad?
In the name of the father
In the name of the son
We need to come together
Come together as one
In the name of the father
In the name of the son
We need to come together
Come together as one
In the name of the father
In the name of the son
We need to come together
