    I actually used the front cvd’s on the rear of my roller and have had no issues at all.

      Fantastic, and good to know. I had a feeling it might...but, thank you, greatly, for the info. I did the same on my Traxxas Sledge, as it's also came 'stock' with dogbones on the rear.

      Glad to hear. Yes, they're QC isn't the greatest...but, for 'new' companies, it rarely is. I'm guessing, give them time, and the QC will go up. As for the vehicle, itself, I'm in agreement...awesome.

      @@ninthislandrc Hi you keep saying new company they now have 16 rc car out I would not call that a new company.

      @@benabnjm4828 "New", as in how long they've been around as a company. I came seem to find any info on when the company started product RC vehicles...but, best I can tell, the company has only been around for a few years. Compared to companies like Tamiya (possibly the oldest still in business, 1946), Traxxas, Kyosho, Losi, and many others, Rlaarlo is a "new" company. As for the number of vehicles, 16 would be "stretching it a bit". For example, while they lost four 1/18 vehicles, two have the same body (albeit, in different colors), and the other two follow the same example...yet, all four are actually the exact same vehicle under the body...so, I'd count that as one vehicle. Moving to 1/14, they list nine vehicles, but in reality, there's only three...again, just different bodies...and, technically, there's really only two, as the buggies are the same - just some having CF towers, and some having aluminum towers. So, by that count, we're up to 3-4 truly different vehicles. In the 1/12 section, there's but a single vehicle, 4-5 different. And, finally, with the 1/10, I'll be 'kind', and call it three. In the end, that's a grand total of 7-8 different vehicles. Using Traxxas as a comparison, even though they produce nine different variations of the 4Tec 3.0, they're all still, essentially, the same vehicle. Looking at Kyosho's Fazer MK2, they produce at least 25 different versions...but, all with the same platform...so, I count that as 1, not 25. Even if manufacturer released an RC vehicle in a choice of 100 different bodies, they're still producing only 1 vehicle.
      Taking a step back, best I can tell, almost all of the other Rlaarlo vehicles are not actually manufactured by Rlaarlo. It looks like their 1/14 buggies are the same as the WLToys 1/14 buggies...so, I'm guessing they all came from the same OEM. The AK-917 could be Rlaarlo's first vehicle developed "in-house".

      We should be fine; will have to hustle, to catch up to the rest.

      As it turns out...yes. I never got around to physically measuring...but, another UA-camr I've become familiar with, knowing I was curious about that, he tested it, and reported back that it works. Just as with the Traxxas Sledge, the front CVDs of the AK-917 can be used on the rear. 🤙🏼

    ive just gotten the 50kph model of this and was wondering what motor, batterys, upgrades, and etc I should put on this to make it faster

    • @ninthislandrc
      @ninthislandrc  7 місяців тому

      Unfortunately, I don't know what you mean by "50kph model" (and, I don't think others will understand, either) - did you get the aluminum or carbon fiber chassis version (those are how Rlaarlo designates the two primary variants)? Also, what upgrades 'recommended' & 'required' will vary, depending on your intended use (ie. bashing, or speedrunning).
      Regarding upgrades, the initial upgrades are covered in my video (others have also posted 'upgrade' videos for the AK-917 & AK-787)...but, to get you started, the aluminum uprights (front & rear), and aluminum bulkheads, are a 'must', whether bashing, or doing speed runs. If you're intending to do speed runs, and you got the CF chassis, most of the other upgrades (aluminum steering, CF shock towers, CF top brace, etc) are already taken care of...but, if you got the aluminum chassis version, then you'll need to get those. Also, for bashing, the stock bearings are good enough to start with...but, for speed runs, you'll want something better (but not ceramic...they're outstanding for racing, but not 'good' for speed runs). Another upgrade to consider (especially if doing speed runs) is stronger, higher-quality turnbuckles...especially titanium. Yes, they can sometimes cost more than the steel or aluminum ones...but, you're getting something as strong as (or stronger than) steel, while being as light as aluminum.
      Another thing to consider is spur & pinion gears. For bashing, the stock pitch is good...but, for speedrunning, you'll want to switch to 32p (ie. Mod 0.8) or Mod 1. Finally, regarding motors, since you're asking, I'm assuming you bought the roller, and not the RTR. If RTR, and if bashing, the stock ESC & motor are very good...not 'outstanding', but WELL above 'average'. If roller & bashing, look at the Rlaarlo website, and stock with a motor with similar kv. As for speedrunning, I can't give any specific recommendations, as the motor kv is going to partially depend on your gearing, and partially on voltage (ie. 2S, 3S, or 4S). Plus, if you're planning to use it for speed runs, in regards to an ESC, I'd recommend a Castle Mamba X, or Castle MMX.
      Hopefully, this info gets you started. Best of luck...and...welcome to Rlaarlo ownership. From the experience of most of us owning the AK-917 & AK-787, these are just as good as (if not better than) the Traxxas 4Tec, but for a lot less money.

    • @ninthislandrc
      @ninthislandrc  Рік тому +1

      Honestly, I wish I had an answer for you. Like many others, I am in the same boat. Granted, I placed my parts order much later than you...but, this is a complaint I have heard from so many others. Although the quality is extremely good (well...except, maybe, for the fact that they're using 6061 aluminum, instead of 7075), their customer service is virtually non-existent. And, that is exactly what is really pissing off so many people. 🤙🏼

If you're talking about getting another car to have a second car to use the parts as spare parts, understand that only the first few parts mentioned are part of the car. All the other parts are optional (ie. requires separate purchase, just like upgrade parts with all other companies).

      I caught a front wheel wobble on my new RLAARLO carbon 917. The plastic hub isn't holding the bearing tight, and the bearing is destroyed, so hub is trash now. I must have hit a small rock on day 2 of my brand new AK 917 Carbon breaking in period ! Now I've had to order CNC Aluminum hubs $21, and new bearings $10. This is an easy fix, thankfully ... I had to do this with my other new RC as well. The upgrade period from plastic to Aluminum CNC parts has begun. lol ...
