  • My "Super Burnac Vulcan" - Part #28 - A Live Steam Test. Apart from painting the Flywheel, my "Super Burnac Vulcan" is now completed. This is the first Live Steam Test and the Methylated Spirit Burner needed much better modern Wicks fitting. Once that was done the performance was transformed. / keithappleton

Runs really nice. I rather like it. I’d even be tempted to leave the flywheel unpainted.

Beautiful job Keith 👍👍👍 I always thought the Vulcan burners were overkill. I use a small round Bix gas burner when I run mine and even with the gas turned right down it still provides enough heat for the boiler.

Most Meths Burners are fierce and give a lot of heat, especially the twin ones on a Stuart 504 Boiler }:-)))

In the late 1960s I started learning Pneumatics and we were told "When in dough,, Meter out" which the restriction valve on the exhaust is doing very well.

@@keithappleton there's something quite magic about the simplicity of an oscillating cylinder engine. 👌

Just curious: How much power does this "toy" produce. The next question: Since you made most of the parts, how difficult would it be to make the rest of the parts. Perhaps others (not me, unfortunately) might want to build one of these from scratch. Regardless, it looks like a nice "toy", but you said/implied that they weren't being made anymore. (*SIGH*)

Not much, but it runs well on next to no steam pressure. A lot of Steam toys are no longer made. It is the way of things.
