  • Learn all about these two towns and how they developed.
Knaresborough has a much longer history dating back to Roman times, whereas Harrogate only developed after 1571 when the first spring was discovered. Even then visitors stayed at Knaresborough as it was already a visitor attraction with the Petrifying Well, Mother Shipton and its location on top of the Nidd Gorge.
The film includes exclusive behind the scene visits to see Harrogate toffee being made; Harrogate Water being bottled; the Army Foundation College; electonic circuits being made at GSPK as well as the Great Yorkshire Show, the Flower Shows, the Knaresborough Bed Race, the Turkish Baths and many more events and locations.
You're sure to find out something new - whether you're just visiting or live here. The voice-over is by former YTV Calendar presenter, Geoff Druett.

Coming October 2020: Guide to Harrogate on film - watch and walk at the same time to get the most out of your visit!

My great grandmother was raised in Knaresborough. Her family took care of Conyngham hall in the 1870 to 1900. Thank you!

I was stationed in Harrogate in the forces back in 1984 until 1986. I lived in Starbeck and worked at Menwith Hill. In my 20 years in the forces, I liked being stationed in Harrogate the best out of all my assignments. I have many good memories of Harrogate.

Very good. Despite being a Harrogate resident for the first 45 years of my life, there were things in the film that were new to me. Thank you.

Thanks for this. I'm from Canada, and aside from where I live, Knaresborough's my favourite place. I've been there a couple of times. I was supposed to be there again last year, but Covid.

Loving your Yorkshire videos. I'm a native/resident of Horsforth near Leeds but am enjoying finding out more about the wider county.

Really good, although I am surprised Betty's Cafe didn't get a mention.
