  • We're doing another Cummins Swap! I purchased a $600 block that a needed machine work and some TLC. The block has been hot tanked, bored .020 over, and the crankshaft ground to .010 over.
    In this video I go over everything you need to know about assembling a 12 valve 6BT Cummins block when you're starting with a bare block. This video only contains the assembly of the short block but we'll get into the cylinder head in the next video!

    12v Cummins that doesn’t leak? Buddy even the Cummins god himself doesn’t have a thought like that lol

      lol that’s fair, I should reiterate: I want it to not leak for as long as possible 😂 I’ve wondered how long the dodges lasted from the dealership before they started leaking

      What’s the difference between that and US kits ?

      What’s the difference between Rockbug and the one Adventure Vehicles NW sells?

    • @Austin_SaintOnge
      @Austin_SaintOnge  18 днів тому +1

      @devil2jz500 the major difference between the rockbug kit and the ones made here in the states is that the rockbug kit uses an adapter that goes in between the input part of the transfer case and the adapter plate is clockable

    Here in Australia toyota is one of the best, the 1HZ and the 1HDT are amazing and are heavily loved, but you wanna make it better? Cummins swap 🤯😂👌🏾🤙🏾🇦🇺

      Unfortunately we didn’t get the diesels here in the states! Cummins swapping provides a great solution as there are parts available at every store here. And they sound awesome!

    I was taught not to use assembly lube in the cylinder's, as its way to slippery for bed in, Oil only? not to sure how much truth is to this, But I've always used oil on the bores and assembly lube everywhere else,

    • @Austin_SaintOnge
      @Austin_SaintOnge  19 днів тому

      That’s probably good practice, I’ve seen both only oil or with assembly lube. The goal will be to have it ready to drive on the first start up after checking for leaks, then take it up some steep highway passes in 4th gear at around 2500 rpm to seat the rings for a couple of hours. I didn’t film it but I also added engine oil to the cylinder walls. I guess we’ll have to wait and see!

    What did you do for the trans adapter ?

    • @Austin_SaintOnge
      @Austin_SaintOnge  18 днів тому +1

      Haven’t purchased one yet! It’s between a company named rockbug out of Australia or the previous adapter plate I used on my white 80 series from Dustin

    Lot of time and money for a heavier, noisier engine with half the usable RPM that stock makes similar HP and 50% more torque. In 2024, spending a pile of $ to swap in an engine from 1984 seems like an odd choice. Guys in their stock FJ80 will be jealous until they see how noisy, stinky, slow a stock 12v swap is.

      I’m in Alabama so probably a little cost prohibitive to ship…what about putting it in your dads that has the knock? What would a used fzfe be worth?
