Greetings Ryan! I was not looking for this type of video, but there it was before me today, so I gave a listen. This marvelous snare drum has become my favorite snare drum, and I have a few others to choose from, but I truly love playing this snare drum with my Sonor Delite kit. I also have my Bass mounted Toms arranged as you do, and I also play just about the same cymbals, brands and all. Thanks and Blessings Ryan! (new sub!)
Great overview! Thanks for this. I know what my next big snare purchase is going to be 🤘
Thank you for watching! It’s a great drum to own 🥁
It’s a nice looking and sounding snare. Great review Ryan🤘🏻👍14
Thank you Ben!
EXCELLENT DEMO SIR - WELL PUT 2 GETHER AND COVERED ALL ASPECTS THX U
You’re welcome David!
high with dampeners. nice work
Thanks for checking it out!
Too heavy for my lightweight snare stands. It takes time to find the sweet spots in tuning. Sound guy prefers the beech 1.0 anyway, and I do as well, because it sounds well in any room (even glass and hard tiles) and it's very forgiving in terms of tuning. So due to its heavy weight I use this one in a rehearsal space.
It is a heavy drum for sure! I’d be interested to try the beech 2.0 version!
i see now mics on your toms and cymbals.. Are you using a one overhead mic or any other digital
triggers?
There’s no digital triggers. One mic on the bass drum, one mic on the snare. One overhead above the kit and one overhead to the side underneath the ride and near to the floor tom.
Too bad it costs over $1200 🙁I do love 13” snares though. I’m using a Sonor Black Mamba and a Mapex Piccolo snare. They work just fine.
Damn that’s not cheap! If they do the job and you get enjoyment playing them that’s the main thing!
I prefer lug designs that are small and minimalistic, and preferably machined instead of cast. So I gotta admit, I hate the Vintage lugs. I'm just not a fan of what looks to me like unnecessarily large pieces of hardware (DW turret lugs are another one). These lugs are so long, they have to stagger them on their shallower toms, which is a bit of an aesthetic annoyance for me. I especially don't understand why anyone would choose to use two single-ended lugs when a single double-ended lug arguably works better (tension from both ends mostly cancel each other out, so less stress on the shell), weighs less, requires fewer screws, etc. Other than that, it is a fantastic snare, sounds great. BTW, is the shell rolled and welded, or spun?
I do like the staggered look of the lugs on this drum but I agree with you that seeing offset lugs on a rack tom doesn’t quite look right to me. I believe it’s a welded shell, thanks for watching!
Great snare i have one and need play on it
