Niolox is a tool steel, similar to D2 or Sleipner steel but with finer grain and rust resistance.👍 Its made in Italy where they know a thing or two about murder, lol.
Yes sir that blade shape and grip screams face to face down and dirty savage blood letting dance. Watching it cut it flows right through with the natural draw motion of the hand / elbow. It looks as if the knife is an extension of the hand . A straight thrust will apex at well above the wrist making that belly of the blade open a longer puncture hole. Then on the slash to recover will lengthen the opening catching a lot of vessels and at the right target area even an artery. A lot of folks don't really understand how durable a live artery is, but watching that knife work , there would be no issues opening them up. Not trying to be to dark about it. But at that level of self defense and combat it gets savage. That knife like the cold steel wasp, Gerber mark 2, Applegate fairbairn. Or fairbairn sykes dagger. Even the old boker M3 trench knife,.all of these had a single purpose in mind, to get in, get deep, and cause exsanguination, shock, and unlifeing. Something odd is there is a statistic that says, if a person is shot and does not immediately get unlifed, if they receive quality medical care within 3 hours, 85 percent of the time that will survive. That same number drops to 65 percent survival rate if they are stabbed. Any rate apologies for the extended comment, back in my younger wilder days I was a spontaneous knife assault instructor. 😅 So when in doubt, bleed them out.
It reminds me of my Hanwei tactical tanto in so many ways, they are very much the same niche tactical fighting knife. A beautiful tactical tanto fighting knife mate.
Looked at the ryu a bunch of times just because it’s so cool looking But I just can’t see myself really using it but the perser from fox well I imagine I’ll probably end up picking that on up eventually
Yeah man, some knives just scream it...felt the same with the Cacula, but it still handled everything well...this fox is a great looking blade and knife...so great your gettings hands on so many great standout knives...timbo can really pick them
It's a nice nice-looking knife. Just got to my room working in Nashville for a couple days. I don't know much about Niolox but I hear it's good steel. Thanks for showing it. Heading to grab some dinner. Have a good evening.
I absolutely love The Ryu! Did you see that ridiculously gorgeous, and equally as expensive, Damascus bladed one they had a while ago with the blue and black handle!?! The Blacked Out one, more realistically speaking, shall be in my collection one day! (Collection doesn't mean safe queen outside of sentimental knives.)
The Mississippi River is across the street from me and when the water is low you can find pieces or 3 or 4 inch twisted rope that falls off barges and stuff. It is completely packed with river sand and really hard to cut. It takes really good steel to make even one cut through that rope.
Great knife and video, My Brother. Some knives just call to us. This one is definitely based on the tanto knife from Japan. I love a knife that is first and foremost a weapon. I have knives for many different blades for different uses, but it's my fighters that are my favorites. Awesome job, Brother. As always.
Man there's just something about an aggressive looking knife. It's not that I like the purpose I just like the aesthetics. They are gorgeous for sure. I hope you have a phenomenal week brother
Yes, a knife is a tool, but if it is designed to be a fighting knife, why should that be an issue? I can appreciate a fighting knife without being a threat to anyone. Fear and hate are the problems, not the weapons themselves. It sure worked well as a tool in all of those tests, though!
@@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors I received the knife today and I'm really happy with it. I really dig the handle! Quite some time ago I bot a knife with a similar blade, the CRKT Hissatsu. The handle on the CRKT is comfortable but doesn't provide any protection for the hand and you could slip easily on the handle. The Fox Ryu got everything right. It's really sharp, great for slashing and stabbing and the handle is comfortable and really safe! That the knife comes with a set of IWB belt loops and a tek-lok is a nice bonus. The only thing that bugs me is that the sheath is extremely thight. It's quite a task to draw the knife. That needs a little work.
Great video review / discussion/demo. I have knives for work, knives for camping and bushcraft, and knives i carry for self defense. Im a knife lover We all carry knives for self defense. We dont all admit this. My advice is that if you know you carry a knofe for self defense. Then learn something about what that means. And practice so that if your life depends on your action. You can act without thought or hesitation. Thank you!

Hey scab after seeing your things I cut with my Barlow and why it matters video I challenged myself to order and carry a slip joint for one month. So I was wondering for fun would you ever challenge other knife UA-camrs to carry a slip joint only or non locking knife for a few weeks maybe one month this community needs to get back to having fun and simply enjoying knives.
I have been carrying a SAK Camper everyday for over a year and I use it everyday for something! I has been the most valuable tool I edc! I absolutely think everyone should carry a fixed and a folder everyday as they both have their uses for sure! Have a blessed week! 👍🏼🇨🇦
Looks Ford Tough! Thanks so much for sharing this one Mr.Scab! Cheers, Kimmers and Jerbs #BEUP #DSKFS #neverquitquitting #22ADay #22ADaynomore 👍🏼🇺🇸🔥🔪🔥🇨🇦👍🏼👍🏼
It's not really a necessity I live in Northeast Florida where we have 70 to 100% humidity year-round I just have to be a little more careful on my blade maintenance
@@choirboyzcutleryoutdoorsyou never mentioned the hole in the pommel in the video clearly its an obvious part of the knife what are your thoughts on it and in your opinion what purpose could it serve
I really don't know if I was going to speculate I would say it could be made for easier hanging up. For instance there are several knives that have rings at the pommel they're not for your fingers . If you're skinning game and the knife gets bloody. You don't want to put it in the sheath that way. So you hang it up. Or it simply could be there to extend the pommel for striking. Instead of a solid piece that would throw off the balance you do it this way. It could be for a pinky just not sure. It did not add or take away from using the knife so I'm kind of eh towards it to be honest

Definitely a killer blade shape! That handle too! What a cool looking knife, brother! Another great video and shout out to TImbo!
Thank you my brother I absolutely love this thing
That's one stabby knife! Great demonstration of its capabilities, Scab!
Appreciate it my brother!
A knife is a tool...like a hammer or like a shovel.
Yuppers
Hi scab awesome video, I believe the same designer also made the Monkey Thumper. Which is also very nice.
I'll have to check it out brother
It reminds me of my Hanwei tactical tanto in so many ways, they are very much the same niche tactical fighting knife.
A beautiful tactical tanto fighting knife mate.
Thank you my brother it is gorgeous and sinister all at once
i have now had that knife a couple of years. And i love it.
I definitely see why man
it has characteristics of both a tanto and a Celtic ring hilted knife and will still make sense when made in to sword or machete sized
Facts!
Looked at the ryu a bunch of times just because it’s so cool looking

I love tanto blades, great video and sweet knife! ❤
Thank you bambino
@@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors there is a version of that knife with a tanto blade that Mrs Bambino might fall in love with 😁
Great review Scab. You’re always so down to earth and common sense! Love it!
Appreciate that very much thank you!

We all hope we never have to use em. I started making knives b/c one saved my life.
Not a good feeling but a necessity at times
An attacking design. Murder. Or as they say in Chicago -Moida. Cold knife Brother 🇺🇸 🇳🇿
Well said sir

This thing is dope! I love everything about it! These things can be a little difficult to demonstrate appropriately so I hope I cover it thoroughly
That's what I call a recommendation to buy. Ordered the knife and subscribed to the channel.
I appreciate the subscription brother. If you would let me know what you think of it

Well this title will send up some flags. Great video brother
Yes sir but hell most of them do anyway anything to do with knives or fun you know they can't have that
Ooo... On the short list for sure !!
A utility knife with "Get OFF me !!" attitude.
Love this thing!!
Nice! I've had my eye on this for a while. Have you seen the Kabar modified tanto? It's got a similar blade shape.
No but I've held one. Love both but this one is a little stouter

What's great about this challenge is anyone can participate regardless of budget especially with company's like rough ryder and rosecraft shrade.
We had one awhile ago started by True Budget EDC An Prepping I believe it was a long while ago though would be fun to do it again!
Hey it’s a tactical knife. It has a purpose, and that purpose is fighting/defense. Glad you’re not beating around the bush about it. Hope all is well.

Appreciate it brother!!
I’ve thought about getting one of those before
It's what I'm going to pick up in the future I do like it a lot
Lc200n is a great steel for corrosion resistance if that’s what you’re needing
It's not really a necessity I live in Northeast Florida where we have 70 to 100% humidity year-round I just have to be a little more careful on my blade maintenance
I understand. It is a pretty great steel to check out though. Great toughness and basically rust proof
Real cool blade on this
Love it brother!
Totally honest there man!
Nice tanto there that pommel makes me think of that cold steel tanto
Similar yes

What’s the point of the hole though. Like the rest of it is cool but why. The skull crusher is kind of cheesy too
