@Ryan Boswood Hey Ryan, Thanks a lot! It is indeed as you say. We didnt want to do a cheap production in china. Even with that the knives would probably cost around 160-200 . And with that we wouldnt be able to stand behind the knives quality. The DBK knife now is far from cheap but we can 100% be proud of it and stand behind it's quality. Thank you so much for the kind words and amazing support!
@Ryan Boswood what would be a good strong stainless steel option that is easier to sharpen than elmax? I am looking at buying a bark river but don’t know which steel to choose.

Awesome channel! I love your videos. Just became a patreon because of Maarten's Boris the Russian video and the David Attenborough voice overs and Mikki's craziness!!!! Besides the rest of your testing and comments on other knives is just great!!
That grind and initial sharpness is amazing - I’ve never experienced (or even seen) anything approaching it in a factory knife! Reminds me of a couple of Shosui Takeda customs that I own. Great design!
I hope you throw a copy of the Dbk knife song in with the knife. Catchy tune! Now I wish I wasn’t still furloughed for the last year and still had my three jobs. Either way, great looking knife too.
One of the bigger german-speaking survival/bushcraft youtuber Reini Rossmann recently brought out his own knife as well. It would be really cool to see a test video about that one.
His knife is more of a general use field knife/Survival style knife. DBK knife is more of a hunting stye knife, that can also work wood well enough, because of it's convex edge. Also, the DBK is made by TRC knives, which is the best build quality maker out there at the moment. (Heat treatment, blade geometry, fit and finish etc). DBK knife, looks like the clear winner.
I might add that when I was tasked to be the heat treater for a machine shop only because I mentioned I made knives as a hobby. I would use drop-offs from jobs I HT'ed to make knives or axes. I had a bunch of S5 40mmx100mm flat bar pieces so I read up on forging it and made the hardest toughest ax heads you ever saw. I used a powdered charcoal Borax flux to keep the de-carb down while forging and during equalizing/anneal/heat treating I use Brownell's ATP mixed with the fine charcoal powder to cover the steel. Because of the low carbon count 0.60% one must be watchful of decarburization with this steel. I made the carbon powder by grinding pieces of charcoal with 120 grit belts. I made the axes a little "Viking/Norse" looking, but still great for felling or wood working. I ended up with 8 good axe heads over the space of three years. All HRC 59 to 61 hard and could chop through 16d nails without chipping. I cut some 40mm by 4mm thick slabs from pieces leftover over 200mm long and using stock removal made some great hunting knives that I sold with the axes. Luckily I kept one axe for myself, but alas only a small fixed pocket knife. You can barely file the edge being 60 hard. In my not very wide experience S-5 is superior to S-7 and 3V, but it is hard to find except as drill rod or some thick metric sizes from Europe. It is a little expensive too, more than L6 or O1, but not $300+ 3V expensive. As quenched in oil (Parks 50) S5 is 64 hard and a 500 temper gets you 60 hardness. It is so tough thick parts, like ax-heads, can be quenched in water, knives will warp though, but it doesn't crack. So if you want tough and edge holding try S5 tool steel.

Guess I'll Have to settle for being #351! Longtime watcher of your content and first-time poster. Do I really NEED a $460+ in U.S. Knife? Not necessarily. But like many on here that watch you guys content, it's not so much about the money as it is knowing you both put your heart and soul into this knife and I believe in what you're doing. I don't have many knives, however since discovering your channel long long ago that has been changing and won't buy a knife unless you guys have reviewed it. Been actually waiting for that cold steel srk in cpm3v review in all honesty before I pick one up. I've never heard of brands like Bark River who I actually don't live to far from (on the Indiana/Michigan border) or Fallkniven, TRC and many others til I started watching your channel. After watching this video this looks like, to me, to be quite possibly the one knife to rule them all! I'm excited to get your knife in... 11 months lol. But that's ok. It'll be worth the wait I'm sure. Never compromise your products quality for productivity... You should serialize the first 500! Just a suggestion :-D. Please always remember where you started and hope your DBK brand becomes known someday for having the best knives in the world! Look forward to more videos AND DBK knives in the future. Keep up the good work. Joe L.

DBK boys, congratulations from someone who saw your videos from the very beggining. I have honestly been waiting anxiously to see how your knife would be and its good to see what you have achieved. A great manufacturer, a great steel and a very good design. I sincerely congratulate you for this and it brings me a lot of joy to see such a great conclusion to your project. Best regards chaps.

Cheers my friend, thanks alot for being with us on this ride
The way I see it, I must buy this knife simply because of the amount of times you both made me laugh so damn hard :D
I want this knife because it's clearly well designed and constructed. The very first video that I've ever seen of yours I watched a week ago. This is going to be the most money I've EVER spent on a knife by far. Good job.
The goal was met forty minutes after the episode aired :) at 22:41 there were 68 knives signed for already.
noice
Its so absolutely insane!
I'm truly happy for you both. That is an incredible knife and I just looked at kickstarter and you're doing well (reached your goal!). Sadly, I'm unemployed right now... but it made my day to see your dream coming true. You're both stand-up guys and deserve to have your hard work mean something. Cheers & kudos!
That song is now stuck in my head... 38 minutes and can't stop singing it! Bastards!
Damit guys I don't need ANOTHER knife and ive got bills to pay and I want a ps5 ......
it IS nice.... really nice... and I can give some of my morakniv as gifts.... my ps4 works fine...technically its an investment... if I do a couple of weekends at work....
Maybe I'll get one 🤔
Hmmmmm and I hear there will be a new world comin where everybody is a loser without the knife 🤔
Haha cheers mate!

i've never ordered anything that fast in my life, CANT WAIT! so happy for you guys, this is gonna be great!
Congrats DBK with this absolutely insane DBK knife!!!
Joe L.
Holy shit boys, 1 day and the kickstarters fully pledged 3 times over. Im not surprised. Im hoping it reaches a quarter million tbh, i think it can.
Your excitement is palpable. Nice!
I have watched all of your videos and have been a fan for years. Love you guys! I got a DBK knife coming in March 2022 (I missed the numbered set). You should do a camping trip to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. It's one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Вітаю вас з таким сильним проривом !! Ви довго до того йшли і вам вийшло!! ви супер !
This jingle has been stuck in my head for a week now... thx guys.
……..Just want the DBK knife! Great blade and Great song! 👍🔥🔥🔥🔥
So excited, pledge number 6 was mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cant wait for the knife, love DBK 4 ever!
I'm genuinely happy for the DBK boys! Congratulations on the knife!
Congrats to the 2 of you. Hope to get it soon.
The knife actually did so well everything! I'm legit super proud of you guys!
The smile on Maarten’s face when he was making sparks with the ferro rod... Priceless! The expression of pure joy.
I wish I was still young enough to need one of these; I'd be all in! How exciting for you guys. I hope all your dreams come true and you keep producing such a great product!
There's always a need for a nice good quality knife, even if there isn't lol, just to have it is all the need that's required.
I had the biggest smile just watching how awesome this is. I cannot wait to have one in my hands. Thank you for bringing this into existence boys! 😭
We are proud of you guys
