    I test rode the 101 yesterday. I’m 6’1 at 220 pounds. The bike fit like a glove. Good power, great handling and suspension, comfortable. I’m coming from the sport bike realm and have no desire to go cross country.
    I also test rode the sport Chief. That thing is too jerky and somehow I felt more cramped on it than the 101. The 101 is a far more fun ride, and a better “hybrid” for city/highway riding.

      @@zacharymallory8727 yeah I didn’t care for the sport chief for some reason. But the scout 101 was a blast

    17k for a small stripped down cruiser is obnoxious. Bikes are getting way too expensive. Harley isn't off the hook either they charge like 17 for a street bob which is absurd

    • @IronBornRider
      @IronBornRider  7 місяців тому

      The scout 101 isn’t stripped down though, but I agree $17k is a lot. There’s a lot of bikes you can get for that kind of money with a lot more in terms of feautures

      Yeah, Street Bob MSRP is about $17K. My local dealer has/had few sitting with $2K off sticker on them. Which is not exactly cheap, but still.

      @geeeee8268 so crazy cus streetbobs used to be like 13k. Then Harley killed the "best bang for your buck" bikes like the 107 lowrider and Slim.

      I'll be honest with you... 17k is ridiculous, but it isn't Indian's fault... something like 30% of all US dollever to exist were created in the last few years. The bike doesn't cost that much more, the dollar buys that much less.

    I agree with your assessment. They will sell, but the price will eliminate many people's consideration.

    Interesting you thought the Scout 101 more fun to ride than the Sport Chief. How would you compare it to the Lowrider? Just in terms of fun factor?

    • @IronBornRider
      @IronBornRider  6 місяців тому +1

      I think smaller bikes are more fun in general because of weight and size but I’m also 5’8. So someone that’s bigger might have a different opinion. For me the scout 101 is like a baby brother to the low rider s and the sport chief. A lot of similarities, but with the smaller footprint it feels quicker and more agile

    You know, Indian is producing some awesome bikes, but until they can produce a dealership experience on par with the bikes, im sticking with my Harley. I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which has a decent sized metro area, and the dealership here shares with BMW and Honda! If they have 4 different Indian models on the floor, it's a good day. On the Harley side, we have two full sized dealerships in town to choose from. Indian can't even provide one.

    • @IronBornRider
      @IronBornRider  6 місяців тому +1

      Yeah the dealership support is lacking for sure with Indian in terms of number of dealerships. Although Harley has been closing down a lot of dealerships lately too, hopefully it doesn’t keep going in that direction

    • @jasonparker5687
      @jasonparker5687 6 місяців тому

      In terms of customer service, my dealership experience was the exact opposite. I stopped in the local Harley dealership, walked around actively checking out bikes and price tags, and zero of the five employees came up to me to offer help and whatnot. It’s what made me go check out the Indians. And the customer service at Indian was a stellar experience. So much so that I’m on my second Indian bike. I just upgraded from my 2023 Scout to the new Scout 101. Absolutely painless process with constant communication and updates on the status of the bike’s availability. I live in northern New England so the ratio of Harley to Indian dealerships isn’t that far off.

    A cheap stripped down version of the 101 would sell better. I think most of the guys that would want a bike like this are also the type of guys that, like me, enjoy doing their own upgrades and picking their own style. I would love to see a more customizable bike coming from any of these companies. You pick your base model and then you have multiple choices for exhaust, handlebars, seat etc.. Then I can see 17k or even 18k,19k depending on your choices...

    • @IronBornRider
      @IronBornRider  7 місяців тому +1

      That’s what I was thinking too. I don’t know too many people that buy a motorcycle that’s already fully built. Half the fun is picking and choosing what upgrades you want on the bike. The scout 101 is already pretty much built…so what are you going to mod? Lol

    • @stuartstogdill2406
      @stuartstogdill2406 7 місяців тому

      There is no money in that for the manufacturer... unless you are then paying an extra $3-5K above the current sticker price.

    The scout 101 price is high considering there's many full size options in the new and used market. Low rider ST / Sport Chief / Metric Cruisers / Older Harleys etc

    • @IronBornRider
      @IronBornRider  7 місяців тому +1

      Yeah at that price point you have a lot of options. And most people who buy cruisers want a bike that can do 2 up and travel. I dunno, maybe I’m overthinking it

    • @IronBornRider
      @IronBornRider  7 місяців тому +1

      I demod one last year. I’ll say I liked the scout a little better. It’s lighter and more nimble and definitely felt snappier. The throttle with the riding modes on the sport chief was hard to get used to, but on the scout 101 it felt responsive. I do have a demo video on the sport chief on my channel if you’re interested

  • @RoadReality
    @RoadReality 7 місяців тому +1

    $17k for a small cruiser is silly. I think the Sportster S is $15k... and even THAT is over-priced for the class. $20k buys you a lot of bike, and it's not a huge jump.

      I was thinking if I want the scout 101 for its performance reasons, why not just get a naked bike like the mt09 and it costs less. I don’t see a huge market for the scout 101 but I hope I’m wrong

    It's so overpriced... but so are most bikes these days really. The Americans do make them wildly overpriced though when you look at what you get for the money. The Sport Chief hasn't sold well at all and this will be the same with the Scout 101.

    Great commentary review on the 101, IBR 🏍️👍.
    Yeah new bikes are getting expensive. In looking at the new Scout lineup and what you get for a 101 over a regular Scout. All the tech standard, plus fox piggy-back shocks and inverted adjustable shocks on the front. I can see some of that expense costing more than a regular one. By the time you upgrade any of the others to a limited tech package you’re getting close to that $17k price but still don’t have the suspension or bump in power that the 101 is.

    • @IronBornRider
      @IronBornRider  7 місяців тому +1

      Yeah I was doing the math in my head and $17k isn’t bad considering what you get vs the other scouts. It’s tempting because I love my scout but the scout 101 was just so much nicer lol
