Hello, I leave this comment here for everyone who wants to know all of the original poems/song by JRR Tolkien used in this grandious song. Since Clammavis De Profundis sadly didn't name all of them. Infact they named two out of 5 different poems/songs 0:57 Far over the Misty Mauntains Cold (from The Hobbit, sang by the Dwarfs in Bilbos home) - 9 verses of 10 6:50 Song of Durin (parts of it) (from Fellowship of the Ring, Gimli sang it in Moria) - 2 verses of 6 9:03 Far over the Misty Mountains Cold (continuation) - 1 verse last verse of the 10 9:45 The wind was withered on the hearth (from the Hobbit, sang in Beorns house) - 6 verses of 6 13:02 Under the mountain dark and tall (from the Hobbit, sang by the Dwarfs before the battle of 5 armies) - 7 verses of 7 18:01 Farewell We Call to Hearth and Hall! (from Fellowship of the Ring, sang by Merry and Pippin around the part where the Nazgul nearly found the Hobbits) - 5 verses of 5
Of course, the fact Tolkien penned most of the lyrics is utterly lost on most of the idiots in the comments, and it does not surprise me that the singers, good as they were did not credit the actual author properly...... But perhaps I am being cynical? Maybe? Stealing someone else's work is still stealing someone else's work.... I have no issues with it if it is credited properly. But... was not was it?

So, I have insomnia. I can't sleep most of the time. My mind goes too fast, and I can't shut it off. I have to listen to music to even make myself be still, but it usually still takes a few hours to fall asleep. I listened to this song on repeat last night and I fell asleep within 45 minutes and it was amazing. Its so relaxing and mysterious. It may be a coincidence, but last night was the best sleep I've had for a year, and I would like to thank y'all.
I believe the ones who returned from Hades after 70 years wandering the fields of Asphodel would have some trouble sleeping. I'm glad you found this work of art by CDP and were able to catch the best zzzzs for a while. I'm sure Frank would have been pleased to hear about you getting a peaceful night's sleep. As would Nico. As the song begins, you hear a deep feeling in the pit of your stomach. Not a bad feeling, but a feeling of pure bliss. As the song slowly progresses, the feeling slowly spreads up through your body. You look up from your screen, only to find that you are no longer in your bedroom, however, you are in a tunnel, just 5 feet tall. You look down, only to see that your screen is gone, replaced by your leathery hands. Even though your screen is gone, the music is still playing. You peer around a dark corner and see that in a room at the end of the hallway, a firey light flickers. You begin making your way down the hall. You feel the feeling begin spreading into your fingertips, spreading to the very edges of your body, ready to burst like a balloon. The feeling is now euphoric, as you take those few last steps into the room, almost running. You burst into the room, the song now playing at full volume of the 13 voices that now surround you. All small, grimy, worn down dwarves. You hear a loud, heavy step behind you, you look behind you to see a man, staff in hand, with a gray outfit, with a beard of gray decorating his chin. You realize that your feet are slowly becoming colder, you peer down, only to realize that your shoes are gone, replaced by the bare skin of feet that you do not recognize. You look behind you and realize that the tunnel seems much larger. A realization hits you like a truck, you are in the skin of a hobbit. You sprint to the nearest window and recognize the scene from a movie somewhere... You can't remember it, as the song finishes, you turn around, and the most dignified-looking dwarf hands you a long scroll, asking for you to read it before accompanying him... You take the scroll, reluctantly, and he points you to a window to your left. You peer out the window, and in the distance, you see a range of mountains. You look beyond those mountains, and see a vague shape farther back, higher than all the other mountains, you realize that it is hundreds of miles further. Even shrouded in mist, you realize that it is the very mountain being sung about. The home of the dwarf, The Lonely Mountain.
Your music accompanied me when I made a Tolkien pilgrimage to Oxford, Birmingham and Sarehole Mill this year. God bless you and continue your good work.
Gotta say, I was kind of hoping you would have added the "Durin's day" segment of the Song of Durin interlude. That little glimt of past glory makes the melancholic tone of it better overall.
"the world was fair in durin's day a king he was on carvern throne in many pillared halls of stone with golden roof and silver floor and runes of power upon the door" etc
I love this rendering. It puts my one year old to sleep every time. Of course, I have to calm him up with “That’s What Bilbo Baggins Hates” and your rendering of Durin’s Tale first.
I've hummed this to my kid since he was a newborn. He's almost 3 now, and I'm worried that when he's old enough for The Hobbit I'll put him to sleep the second we get to this part.
@@Thechezbailey Very well done, congratulations. Shame the lyrics were not properly credited. But in these modern days I guess that does not matter right? Everytime I listen to this I get taken to a different world. One of bliss, happiness and wonder. It makes me want to take an adventure in the country, through swamps, and over mountains. It gives me a sense of adventure and grandeur. This song makes me wish I lived in a world without all the technology we have and just live in a non polluted world where the rivers and oceans are clear as the sky and the air is refreshing and just sit by a fire with my friends getting drunk and singing into the dead of night.
Great song, I watched all the Hobbit movies, and the song for the first one was great. When I listened to this, it brought more of what happened in the past and present. Really good.
As much as I love fantasy series such as A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) and The Witcher, Lord of the Rings has always carried a special place in my heart. I remember the first time reading the books after watching the movies and felt so amazed that I began to realize this series as being not only the best Fantasy series ever created, but easily one of the greatest stories I’ve ever seen and read. There isn’t a single day where I never think about a series such as Lord of the Rings, and yes I have read a bunch of Stephen King and George RR Martin stories. While I love those two authors to death for what they have created, Tolkien is on a whole other level of someone truly special. I’m glad Fantasy as a genre exists for not only someone like me who is looking at becoming a screenwriter, but for others who want to escape reality and enter a fantastic world such as Middle-earth!
I feel like Tolkien build a world for himself, and started writing about this fantasy world. Instead of writing and then creating it's universe. I feel like it somehow already existed and as he wrote it became more detailed and in-depth.
Humaira Mehdee I am actually thinking about either becoming a filmmaker or a screenwriter since I love film and writing. I will eventually become one of them one day.
Little known fact.... The Lord of The Rings book series, ACTUALLY started as a bedtime story for Tolkien's son in the trenches of france in WW1... He would read the letters to his comrades, and they would be able to sleep peacefully amidst the terror of the trench. He saved the letters, and upon his return, insisted his father continue the work. The rest, well, that's history... Lol.
What has happened to our world? When we need songs like this badly, when we need faith, when we need something to believe in. This song shows faith, unity, respect, love. All these missing from our world.
Clamavi de Profundis, I truly enjoy your settings of Tolkien's poems every time. Would you consider setting 'There is an inn, a merry old inn' that Frodo sings at Bree, please?

So been listening to your music to get me in a writing mood. Dwarven music really helps me see the 7+ft gentle Giants, the Elkin and the 4ft or shorter curious fox people, the Kitsin. It lets me see their wintery forests and the deep caverns underneath. They are the dwarves of the world I spend most of my time in.
Pure beauty. Thank you for this. You have no idea of how much this song can calm me down when I am feeling bad. Thank you again and God bless you. A fan from Tunisia.
A powerful song . I never knew it went for this long, I'm so glad it did go for this long , it's beautiful and the depth of the meaning of this is amazing,
I can't explain, but I love so much dwarve's songs. And it's awesome. Three days I listen this music and "Song of the Durin", and full "Far over the Misty Mountains cold". Thanks for this treasures.
Wow! I never tire of you performing these brilliant melodies from Tolkien’s poetry!! Would love to hear you do the complete Eärendil Was A Mariner song in one take, and not three. Some of the Lay of Leithian would also be wonderful, although it is immensely long and would probably have to be practically made into an opera!! Keep up the fine work!! Love your guys and love your music!!
I love your work. I have a play list of your stuff i listen to when im doing work. Amd a friend an i will randomly start playing and sing durins song together.
As a fan of LOTR lore, and DnD player, I wrote a story where in my fantasy world, dwarves of Frostbeard family were exiled because a Dragon makes his lair their home. And as they March for the final battle, I will put this song to be in the background
Time passes on, and while I love all your music (especially Fear Not This Night, it came out as I began playing the game), Misty Mountains Cold remains my favorite song of yours
This reminds me of reconstructed tellings of the Iliad and the Odyssey. The speaker chants along in a repetitive tune and basically sings the story as a simple melody in order to keep the meter and remember the words. I bet Tolkien knew that
Thanks to you and your exceptional voices I've managed to memorize this excerpt by heart. It's special to me and your music makes it even more precious
One of the best things about this group existing and making great music is that technically we are supporting a family owned and operated business by listening.
All those who in their heart can understand the dwarves have chills, this is awesome. I imagine this, to be sung in Middle Earth to a ceremony to be as a gift to fallen Dwarf heroes and remember and respect their memory, I can see moria freed and in Khazad doom, dwarf clerics(sorry, here comes my imagination from dungeons and dragons game) start the melody, and Dwarven paladins and fighters sing it to respect the memory of Thorin and Durin.
I was happy when the first version came out that was a couple minutes or so. Then when the extended came out I had to learn that to be able to sing along of course and that took a while. This is gonna take a long time to learn but it sounds amazing! Keep it up :D lookin forward to a few years down the road when you guys come up with "Extremely far over the misty mountains cold - part 2 - electric boogaloo" and it's just like 2 hours long of epic dwarven chanting. And I'll like that video too. And learn it. Lol
your music literally makes me cry every time i listen to it for the first time, and then again when i give it a long deserved relisten. thank you for all these great emotions :>
Going to reclaim your dwarf fortess in adventure mode after it fell to a Titan, leaving your civilization almost entirely destroyed in the process. Perfect background music.

fantastic, magical and healing music. Just beautiful.
Dragons were and always will be my favorite creatures
Now all you have to do is add your complete version of "Song of Durin" to this complete version and all our lives will be complete
Fantastic! Now I can only hope that the Song of Eärendil will get the same treatment.
During these times, fighting a Dragon sounds like a vacation
I’ll drink to that bro
Dragons you mean breakfast for the dovahkiin
Going to middle Earth for me would be a vacation I'd be tempted to never leave
You beat me to it
if you play dnd it is
you inspire me to expand my English vocabulary
I have heard this wonderful music many times. Each time I hear it is like the first time and I fall in love with it all over it again. Thank you.
I think this is how it actually sounds because in the book they had instruments, unlike in the movie.
Thankyou from one who loves this as being a follower again thankyou ❤😊
Perfect for making me relax before sleeping
A powerful song . I never knew it went for this long, I'm so glad it did go for this long , it's beautiful and the depth of the meaning of this is amazing,
I can't explain, but I love so much dwarve's songs. And it's awesome. Three days I listen this music and "Song of the Durin", and full "Far over the Misty Mountains cold". Thanks for this treasures.
That's because dwarves are the bones of the Earth.
@@Blobby3822 they most certainly are NOT the "bones" of the earth!!! They are more the heart and soul, my friend...
Everybody wanted the Extended Version.
Everybody
The beat of this song alone gives me chills, but the lyrics stir my heart to adventure every time.
To see the furious gaze of a dragon’s eye look upon you is both terrifying and enthralling.
Just as it is terrifying how enthralling your voices are.
CDP and LotR's never gets old. Thank you for this work!
From the theme of Rohan to Gondor and to the Misty Mountains.....ahh such music !! Masterpiece
Guys, I swear, listening to this music while reading the books is just like actually being there with Gandalf and Frodo.
Aaaah! I love this music! It swoops me away to dungeons deep and caverns old. :)
Keep up the great work, guys!
I love your work. I have a play list of your stuff i listen to when im doing work. Amd a friend an i will randomly start playing and sing durins song together.
I just re-listened to your old version today! I was so happy when I saw the notification! I love the new art!
The Reaper: You have 15 minutes left.
Me: starts this song.
The Reaper: But this is 20...
God: Nah, it's fine.
to be fair id let this pass because i love this tune........... yours truly G. Reaper
Yesss 😍😍
Hmst
Yes becky
Agreed
Couldn't have said it better myself
Indeed brother indeed
This song is a masterpiece... I just love how it sounds! Pure magic
As a fan of LOTR lore, and DnD player, I wrote a story where in my fantasy world, dwarves of Frostbeard family were exiled because a Dragon makes his lair their home. And as they March for the final battle, I will put this song to be in the background
playing this everyday on my way to work and having my morning coffee
Time passes on, and while I love all your music (especially Fear Not This Night, it came out as I began playing the game), Misty Mountains Cold remains my favorite song of yours
This is the best version of them all.
I always get chills right around 6:17. Anybody else?
So powerful, so beautiful, this song. Love this. Thankyou.
This reminds me of reconstructed tellings of the Iliad and the Odyssey. The speaker chants along in a repetitive tune and basically sings the story as a simple melody in order to keep the meter and remember the words. I bet Tolkien knew that
This is the best thing I've ever heard, thank you so much I think I might cry
Excellent. Thank you Clamavi De Profundis!!!
15:22 a bliss for the ears
Me: *hears the opening rhythm*
Also me: "The Dwarven halls rejoice!"
and I am NOT CRYING!!!!
Neither am I. Much.
*I AM NOT ASHAMED OF CRYING*
It's okay dwarvein friend I cried and I'm a orc
Yes there are invisible ninjas cutting unions in our homes
Moi je pleure .... , ne peux m’empêcher .....
Awesome song. It is so haunting. Deep and soothing, slow and steady
Thanks to you and your exceptional voices I've managed to memorize this excerpt by heart. It's special to me and your music makes it even more precious
This new cover is so esthetically pleasing, well done!
everything about the movie is truly an inspiration to me 🥺❤️
I like the look of the Dragon, the eye looks like the Eye of Sauron and I Love the Song, it's perfect
Thank you Clamavi De Prufundis❤️
Much appreciated 🤝
What a wonderful piece of art...
please say the hoist the colors from pirates of the carribean before ı die
They're perfect for that song. And visa versa.
You've beaten me to it, I have put it in other video's comments requesting it for months. I will like your comment this time instead.
Please that would be awesome!!
yes yes yes
please
OMG YES
One of the best things about this group existing and making great music is that technically we are supporting a family owned and operated business by listening.
I sung this whole song, now i feel like i could go on a journey and take back a mountain where a dragon sleeps
Only one word can describe this: Fantastic
I listen to this song everyday, I listen to it every night before sleeping. It gives me peace. Thanks sir video
Lol
Im *SO* glad you guys uploaded this!!!
Please please please put all you lord of the rings songs onto a CD it would be epic
YESSS I NEED THIS
They still do CD's? Lol I jest of course but I haven't bought a CD in 10+ years.
I beg you! Make it happen!
your music literally makes me cry every time i listen to it for the first time, and then again when i give it a long deserved relisten. thank you for all these great emotions :>
Going to reclaim your dwarf fortess in adventure mode after it fell to a Titan, leaving your civilization almost entirely destroyed in the process. Perfect background music.
In what game is this?
@@gusindelicato2794 dwarf fortress probably
