  • THE MANUFACTURER APPEARS TO HAVE FIXED THIS ON NEWER LOCKS.
    I made this video a couple years ago. I was curious to see if they fixed this flaw so I purchased the same lock last month. The lock has the exact same part number. They seem to have fixed the easy picking "feature". I'm still trying to break in to it but it's definitely not the same as the old lock.

    I have this same type of lock but from dudley and in early 2020, I had put a combo by accident somehow and couldnt open it. I tried picking it, figuring out the combo. Once I got so frustrated, I tried breaking the lock with a flat head screwdriver but no luck.
    As I am typing this, Its October 8, 2023 and just 20 minutes ago I found this lock burried in a drawer full of clutter. I thought to myself why not give it a shot and I found this video Thank God. It took me 2 minutes and one try to open it and IT ACTUALLY WORKED.
    I almost couldnt believe it because back then I accepted that I would never get this lock open after so many trys to figure out the combo and so much effort to try to break it but it took me 60 seconds to open it 3 years later and I kid you not my jaw dropped and I was stunned for 5 minutes. Im actually excited to use this lock again since I dont have to pay for a new one 😂. Thanks for the tip mate.

    Thank you for this video. The good news: I forgot my code word & my 1535wd lock is now open. The bad news: I must immediately buy a more secure lock. Doing the steps in this video slowly I found out just how simple it can be to reopen this lock no matter what you formerly set it to. These locks aren't cheap. Price apparently isn't everything.

    I just tried this on this lock that my 10yrld locked us out of our refrigerator with (don't ask), and it definitely didn't work. The bottom letter just kept spinning and never got tight like in this video. I guess I have the one and only well made Master Lock. Lol

      That's odd. For me it worked every time. Just be sure you are applying enough pressure on the clasp. There's always a lock cutter tool from Home Depot :-) Good Luck.

    FYI, yes they're very easy to pick, but Any of these rotary wheel locks are pathetically easy to pick. You buy them only if you're going to use them around honest people. Because most people know how to pick them. But if you want a lock that has a lot of security to it and will actually protect your locker, what you want is to buy any of the rotary dial 3 digit combination locks commonly available on the market. These locks have been around for many years and they're really very very difficult to decode, but it can be done. The reason nobody can get into your locker using a rotary dial 3 digit combination lock is because it will take a thief that knows what he's doing a couple of hours to decode it and by then he'll probably get caught.

    Glad im only using this to keep elderly people out of my stuff at my Long term care home as they wander alot and sometimes they wander off with the weirdest things. I also have a tendency to loose keys and waiting on maintenance to remove the lock is really annoying especially if I have been away and I locked up every single thing that is of importance like my laptop, tv remotes in my closet. When I lived at a youth shelter I always used a key lock and had it on my wheelchair with a bunch of random keys… a good way to keep people confused is to get your lock key remade as well and keep it on your keychain so it doesn’t say “master” or whatever brand your lock is.
    The most annoying thing is now many school boards are making it mandatory to use Dudley locks which I have a hard time opening but thankfully Dudley has come up with a one number combination lock which is great for anyone who has difficulty getting conventional 3 number combination locks open. Now I don’t know how secure they are but they are better than nothing at all.

    Im not sure if my son broke his lock or what, I have experience doing lock work including picking some high end locks, and for reason I cant even find the first letter, none of the letter get "set" theres no tention and every letter feels the same, normal on these types of locks I can do it just by feel, but this being a junk lock, Im guess the problem isn't the code, I think somethings broke inside

    • @AlleyPicked
      @AlleyPicked  6 років тому +1

      That's very possible. If you are pulling on the clasp and never feel a difference then you may be right, something broken inside.

    • @rjthomas1586
      @rjthomas1586 6 років тому

      yeah that's exactly whats happening, I spin the dial and the letters just click the same and I have proper tention on the clasp, the bottom end and top end of the lock seem "jiggly" not sure if that's normal cause this is the only one I have of this model, its over a year old and my son used it all last school year, but he says he screwed with changing the combo
