Nowadays there's a lot of ways to "extract" vocal from track. Though, as you've said, the result is usually not that good. About this video, it's a sum of usual track and instrumental track with inverted phase. And, as it's written in the title, it's not good enough either. I'm pretty sure there's multitrack for this song somewhere in the internet, so you can listen to guitar track, drums, or vocal track of this song with the best physically possible quality.

I use Audition 3.0 for things like that. But I'm quite sure, you can do the same in audacity. It's just audition works faster for me.
