The layered vocal tracks is kinda important to the sound we associate with Slipknot. You'll notice it in most of their songs now that you know what to look for.
It's most likely bleed from his headphones. When you add all the compressors and saturation to the vocals the noise floor will rise which results in louder bleed. Also, when you do screaming vocals your ear drums will shut out some volume to protect themselves which oftentimes makes it necessary to have the volume quite high on the phones while tracking.
It's most likely not headphone bleed, it's probably just artifacts from the process of isolating the vocals. Headphone bleed will usually be noise-gated out, unless the engineer is pretty new. Cuts back on noise reduction for the final master.
One of the biggest things that makes slipknot so great is the amount of detail in their songs, with numerous instrumental/vocal layers, that everytime you listen to, you can find something you didn't hear before

I don't get why everyone hated his screams in vol 3. I liked his screams! Sure they werent like before but they were also awesome. TBH I didnt like his screams in AHIG at all. Iowa, vol 3, self titled and gray chapter, his screams were awesome

Billfrank got it for the most part. Amp sim with light distortion. Other parts are intentionally downsampled, so that the quality is reduced, which helps with the 'distorted' tone. Some of the background vocals appear to be harsh-gated, or harsh-clipped as well, which is the process of intentionally amplifying the volume so that it hits the noise ceiling, and then reducing the clip distortion with either a compressor, an equalizer, or (in extremely rare cases) a noise gate.
