The story of The Beatles is incredible. They were just 4 working class boys from Liverpool, yet conquered the world of music, and pop culture to the extent that it's still felt to this day. The power these guys had could have easily been abused. I think McCartney said it best by making the point that most of their songs were about love instead of "go on kids, tell your parents to sod off". At the very least, everyone should respect them just because of that.
Did any of them even take music lessons ? I don’t think so. I don’t believe any of The Beatles could even read music. Do any of us realize how the stars and the planets had to be aligned to get these 4 together ? I can’t see it EVER happening again.

@Kathy P: I hear you. I can still see in my mind -- the moment I heard The Beatles for the first time. My sister and I were fighting over the TV channel -- and while fighting -- “I want to Hold Your Hand” came on the radio from another room. We heard it and we both stopped dead in our 11 yr old tracks and said at the same time “WHO is THAT ? Then we ran into the room with the radio and waited to hear who they were. There will NEVER be another Beatles or anything that can come close.
I was in the Shea Stadium parking lot the night of this concert because my dad had taken me to see the Worlds Fair via Greyhound Bus from upstate New York and that's where the buses were parking. I can still remember how the ground was shaking in that parking lot from the concert that was going on inside the stadium. It was nuts.
What a time to be alive. I was a kid in Brooklyn when the Mets won the World Series and the Beatles were on top of the world. Magical. I know that happened years after this event, but it was a great time.
Most likely, and considering a certain person who is now married to one of them, I think their parents made her older sister take her along even if they didn’t want to or she didn’t want to go or something
It was 55 years ago on this date 8/15/1965 that I saw The Beatles at Shea Stadium. When they ran across the field to the stage the sound was unbelievable with 55,000+ screaming Beatlemaniacs. It was an incredible experience!
Yep. Once in a lifetime. It is hard to believe 55 years have passed. You are part of a unique group. Being at The Shea Stadium concert was the Ultimate Beatles Concert in my opinion. I saw them in concert - but not Shea Stadium. What a GREAT MEMORY for you to cherish. How many people these days can say “Oh - I saw The Beatles at Shea Stadium” ? (and you had the added plus of Brian Epstein standing next to the stage) I envy you.
People today can't even imagine how crazy the time was when the Beatles first came to the US. There has been nothing even close to it since then till now.
The Beatles were THE biggest game changer in my lifetime, hands down regarding music, fashion, style and fandom. Their fanbase was just about everybody except parents, even better.
Jim Dorman oh god.... that must have been horrible. I wonder when apple is gonna show this, with all of the advanced technologies. Like just take the recording of the show, and put it on a screen and enhance the audio.
One of the best memories of my life is seeing The Beatles at Shea Stadium 59 years ago today. My friend and I had seats in section 24 row H; the price per ticket was $5.65. Yes, the sound of 55,000 + screaming Beatlemaniacs was loud!
+dean carter I'm right behind you dean. I too still have my hair but I have decided to dye it silver. More important than that I still wake up with Norwegian Wood.
Yikes...I was there...49 years ago!!!!!!!!! You could hear them but you couldn't see them (except on big screen). Also saw them in Forest Hills...you could see them but couldn't hear them from all the screaming LOL!
Dude the entire stadium is packed full and everyone is screaming their heads off!! Imagine the electric energy in the air that night!! Their Sound probably reverberated through time and space
The best things for them is they play instruments, they sing and dance. Versatile talent. Wonderful songs with beautiful lyrics that everyone can relate somehow.
I keep re-watching this video -- not to hear The Beatles perform, but to remember that sound - the sound of the people in the stadium when The Beatles entered the field. That thunderous over the top screaming melding into one enormous sound that I had not heard before or since. I actually believe that I have tinnitus not only fromThe Beatles Concert, but from sitting in front of the speakers during a Jimi Hendrix Concert. I remember clinching my teeth the sound was killing me --- but definitely memories of a lifetime.
the impact of those first few notes considering the terrible sound equipment vs the scale of the stadium . no act has ever reached this high and managed to hold on while bringing the world with them ! Love it !
The mark of true musical craftsmanship and discipline is being in tune when you cannot hear your own voice. One in a million group-often imitated, never duplicated.
There's no deny how tight they were as a band because when you listen to the version of "Help" at Shea, it's utterly amazing how great they sound despite not being able to hear anything. Their harmonies were as perfect as any studio cut. I think that's the one thing that gets forgotten within their staggering fame- that they were above all else, a great band.
@@Gamemaster365-6 what in the world are you talking about that girl was a kid shes like 10 or something like that in 1965 how's that supposed to be dead. well look at Ringo Starr he was 24 or 25 at this time he's the oldest among the Beatles he's 78 and still alive so tell me how does this make the girl dead if Ringo was older than her?
This was the section of the 1996 Beatles Anthology that gave me goosebumps when I watched the first time as a junior in high school & made me an obsessed Beatles fan. What iconic cultural point of history... I knew then there was nothing & no one that would ever surpass the impact they had.
The entire concert was filmed; I believe it was broadcast as a special edition of "The Ed Sullivan Show" around Christmastime of 1965 and was rerun a couple of more times in the next year or so, but not on the Sullivan show.
Astonishing, I visited Liverpool with my father a few weeks ago and we visited all their childhood homes and even he said its incredible that four men could have such an impact on the world
It was worth the long wait for this to be restored in 4K and remixed, saw this in the cinema yesterday at York City Screen alongside The Eight Days a Week movie, absolutely incredible. The greatest and best band of all time, no band will ever come close to matching the incredible music these lads made.
Wow, the screaming is already so loud when the Beatles come out , then it just skyrockets times 10 when the boys get further out onto the ballfield where the entire stadium gets a full look at them. Tremendous! ❤️
At a very young age, I knew I would never see nor hear anything like this again. And I never have. These types of events only happen once in a lifetime. Some people cannot and will not ever understand and it's too bad for them. Maybe , just maybe, they might have an experience like this, but I don't think so. Cry baby, cry ! I saw the Beatles in Houston and words cannot describe it.I consider myself fortunate. Super Fantastic !!!!!!!!! Boring ? Not in the least. You wouldn't joy if it sat on your lap. It probably did and left you to stew in your misery. Open up your eyes, ears and heart - get real.
I was 13 back then and let me tell you, if I had been there, I would have been screaming with the best of them! lol Back then you really did go to SEE the Beatles, not to HEAR them, as Ringo said. The girls couldn't help screaming because it was so exciting to see them.
Ringo said that at that time he felt the fans had come to SEE the Beatles because most of them couldn't actually hear them any more due to the screaming allied to the primitive sound system of those days. Also no "Pop" group had tried to play a major stadium before so this was very much an experiment. One thing you will notice is how relaxed they are on stage even at such a big venue. Some suggested that John might have been cracking up because he was fooling around so much, but I don't think so. He was always looking for a laugh and enjoyed interacting with the fans. He'd been doing it for years at some of the then best and also toughest venues around Europe (and subsequently the world). In the early days they used to smoke, eat, talk to one another, make jokes, insult trouble makers in the audience, and pull girls all while performing. At one venue George even stops playing and walks back to talk to Ringo. The rhythm however doesn't change. John simply and automatically picks up where George stopped so you don't notice. John once said that playing that music back then was just so much fun, and the fans loved them for it!
I was there 16 years old. It’s a blur even today. I remember Twist and Shout but the screams were so loud! I remember some people trying to run to the stage. Police stopped them. John Lennon booed the police and almost started a riot. Something I’ll never forget!
A alegria deles na entrada e no palco, bem que podia ter sido assim por muito tempo. Saudades dessa banda que conquistou o mundo, The Beatles. Hi from Brazil 🇧🇷 January 2021.
When you think that these out of tune concerts were at roughly the same time as The Beatles released their 1966 masterpiece album Revolver, which was the result of 3 months of studio work, the difference in sound quality is unbelievable! Paul McCartney was so used to these concerts being out of tune that he thought that all of the Revolver album was out of tune, but of course it wasn't.
One of the things that set the Beatles apart was use of microtones in their harmonies, as well as use of non standard pitch. Most of their recordings instruments tuned to 432 hz rather than 440 for example.

When I was a kid I saw The Beatles twice in Chicago!!!!! First concert was at the Chicago Amphitheater and the second time I saw them at Comiskey Park. Seeing them in person was the best time of my life!!!!! Never been the same and I`ve got all of their albums. Four lads that shook the world and no one will ever surpass them.👏👏👏👏 It`s obviously true. We will be long gone and other bands will be forgotten, but The Beatles will always be remembered, I guarantee you!!!! BEST band on the planet!!!!! As Ringo always says "Peace and Love"✌❤
Kathy P: -- and -- the fact that you saw them TWICE -- WOW -- I envy you.

One of the single greatest pieces of concert footage you will ever watch.
Truly the concert of the century, in so many ways.
That's my dad at 0:32 in the yellow shirt :)
That's so awesome!! I bet your dad had the time of his life at Shea.
...you serious...?
Nice looking guy!
Rly :O
Even before reading the comment I noticed him. And I thought "such a good looking guy!"
Wow...
@Todd: Well that sure is a unique experience and great memory. Wow !
What a time to be alive. I was a kid in Brooklyn when the Mets won the World Series and the Beatles were on top of the world. Magical. I know that happened years after this event, but it was a great time.

this girl: *how did i get myself into this?*
😂
😂😂😂🤣
That girl is probably 65 now
*record scratch* "Yep, that's me. And you're probably wondering how I got there..."
Or “why am I here, I want to sleep... everyone shut up...”
Most likely, and considering a certain person who is now married to one of them, I think their parents made her older sister take her along even if they didn’t want to or she didn’t want to go or something
I've never been teased so hard in my life until this video
Lol 😘
😊
@Valerie R: What does that mean ?
I was born in 2005 😞
I wish I had been there. And I mean the 60s too! 😊
My Dad actually was at that Shea Stadium show, he was only 13 at the time! Crazy!
People today can't even imagine how crazy the time was when the Beatles first came to the US. There has been nothing even close to it since then till now.
Only to be outdone by Grand Funk in '71.
@@michaelcap9550 🤡
Well then there was 2020 :(
The Beatles were THE biggest game changer in my lifetime, hands down regarding music, fashion, style and fandom. Their fanbase was just about everybody except parents, even better.
I have a teacher who saw the Beatles at Shea Stadium and she said that you could barely hear them because everyone was screaming!
Old Man Grandpa My sis-in-law was there. She said you could barely see them - no big screens in those days.
Jim Dorman oh god.... that must have been horrible. I wonder when apple is gonna show this, with all of the advanced technologies. Like just take the recording of the show, and put it on a screen and enhance the audio.
The Beatles were magical...timeless....they will never be repeated
Hello Suzi how are you doing?
One of the best memories of my life is seeing The Beatles at Shea Stadium 59 years ago today. My friend and I had seats in section 24 row H; the price per ticket was $5.65. Yes, the sound of 55,000 + screaming Beatlemaniacs was loud!
Memories of being there! Tried to sneak into their dressing room, almost made it! They were the greatest band in history.
Awesome!😍stalking our fave artistes is fun aye?😅😅😅
kJ that is so funny. I had to read that twice!!!
I was 16 now I'm 66 where's my life gone? At least I still have my hair

Just incredible, the decade, the time and the excitement.
Somebody bring us a time machine
We need to join the screaming crowd

Let's rush to the world of the 60s!

I bet my Tardis is smaller than yours.
I miss you , George and John.
Gives me goosebumps! I was very lucky to see them In Boston Massachusetts in 1966 and there as a LOT of screaming then too.
Yikes...I was there...49 years ago!!!!!!!!! You could hear them but you couldn't see them (except on big screen). Also saw them in Forest Hills...you could see them but couldn't hear them from all the screaming LOL!
I wished I'd lived in those times..the best years were the 50's & 60's...where did we go wrong!
History in the making right here. Chills.
At 0:19 you can see a police officer covering his ears in pain. The screaming must have been unbearable.
it was you couldn't hear shit sounded like five billion birds chirping
Thank you I was waiting for someone to comment about that
this is when you could go anywhere and be safe and have fun i am glad to say it was in my generation i am 81 now and still enjoy
Dude the entire stadium is packed full and everyone is screaming their heads off!! Imagine the electric energy in the air that night!! Their Sound probably reverberated through time and space
The best things for them is they play instruments, they sing and dance. Versatile talent. Wonderful songs with beautiful lyrics that everyone can relate somehow.
still better than stadium full of jerks holding up their cellphones
+Dany Cow haha, i agree
isn't everything better than that
If people from 1965 had cellphones - they would be doing the same thing, mane!
Oh sure.....thank god they didn't
Don't underestimate human curiosity! Lol! But you're right, I see you point!
I think every place The Beatles performed heard the same astounding sound from the audience.
Nothing in human existence will touch their magic. Love how John wanted to be first on stage. When Paul ran, John ran harder to catch up and pass.
Interesting observation.
He should. He was the leader after all!
tienes razón, es tan lindo, no me había fijado en esto... pero tiene sentido, eran amigos y rivales al mismo tiempo! hahaha
In the 70's I have a cassette of this concert, all I can hear is the screaming of the fanatic Beatles fans! Greatest band of all time!
1:52 Ringo realizing he couldn't hear anything lol
Hello, Paul!
Hello, John!
Audience? Who gives a damn?
Fifty years ago today my friends, August 15, 1965...yes, that's a half a century ago...just in case you don't feel old enough already...
the impact of those first few notes considering the terrible sound equipment vs the scale of the stadium . no act has ever reached this high and managed to hold on while bringing the world with them ! Love it !
1:20 Y'all be making jokes about her the fact that shes probably a grandma now
😂😂😂😂😂
1:53 "I couldn't hear so I had to look at Paul tapping his foot or John wiggling his arse..."
Best comment ever
OH MY GOD ITS WEEZER
The fact that they opened with Twist and Shout in these conditions is so epic
53 years ago... Still mind boggling how much talent these 4 guys had. It was just meant to be
Humanity is VERY lucky their society didnt squander them like they have so many more artists... some of which i wpuld argue were more talented.
Man, ringo’s drumming is so great, you can even see John getting into it after ringo starts drumming.
Simply the greatest.. they'll never be another
This entire concert needs to be put on blue ray and sold.
I would buy it.
Don't forget most of the songs were studio dubbed in January, 1966!
i think i have something you will want to see shelley
I love how Paul and John say hi to eachother
The girl at 1:20 is somebody's grandmother now.
or dead
@@Gamemaster365-6 what in the world are you talking about that girl was a kid shes like 10 or something like that in 1965 how's that supposed to be dead. well look at Ringo Starr he was 24 or 25 at this time he's the oldest among the Beatles he's 78 and still alive so tell me how does this make the girl dead if Ringo was older than her?
@@Gamemaster365-6 no its a mistake mate I thought I was talking about that guy who said "or dead"

Again. The. Greatest. Band. In. The. World. THE. BEATLES
Astonishing, I visited Liverpool with my father a few weeks ago and we visited all their childhood homes and even he said its incredible that four men could have such an impact on the world
They are still the best
It was worth the long wait for this to be restored in 4K and remixed, saw this in the cinema yesterday at York City Screen alongside The Eight Days a Week movie, absolutely incredible. The greatest and best band of all time, no band will ever come close to matching the incredible music these lads made.
jnb432 so you saw the whole Shea show in Cinema? Why isn‘t it on eight days a week dvd?
Wow, the screaming is already so loud when the Beatles come out , then it just skyrockets times 10 when the boys get further out onto the ballfield where the entire stadium gets a full look at them. Tremendous! ❤️
I'm so in love with them
At a very young age, I knew I would never see nor hear anything like this again.
I bought this VHS tape in 1989. It was them at Shea Stadium and in Tokyo
Back then, it was like finding a treasure
I memorized all the words
The greatest band of all the time !
0:38 John again repeats Paul's actions)))
He did that all the time lol XD
@@-brissa-8472 True
It would have been the thrill of a lifetime to have been there! Screaming and breathing the same air that 💕John, 💕Paul, 💕George and 💕Ringo were!!
IT WAS 50 YEARS AGO TODAY, SGT. PEPPER BROUGHT THE BAND TO SHEA!
Ha ha, love it!! I was there, what an experience!!
Kohl423 rock band not pop
I thought Paul said that they stayed for only 20-40 minutes on stage then leave. Must be because of the screaming.
Grow up idiot, What would you know?
One of the things that set the Beatles apart was use of microtones in their harmonies, as well as use of non standard pitch. Most of their recordings instruments tuned to 432 hz rather than 440 for example.

yes and no, yes because its the beatles! but no because I could not hear a thing and what you did hear sounded like 900 pa systems playing at the same time because that's what the mics were hocked up to inside the stadium.
please tell me, what was it like? how loud was it?

The people who were there were blessed, here I am crying because I never got to experience them together. 🥲
I like Ringo at the 1:52 mark gulping, saying "Holy shit, WTF?" to himself. It must have been mind blowing, nobody ever played to that many people before.
I’ve watched many bands and artists take to the stage in a stadium but nothing beats the first one when the Beatles took to the stage at Shea stadium, epic.
all younger fans know the feeling, the terrible feeling knowing that you'll never ever be able to see your favorite band play live.
