Jim used to hang out in an old dive bar in the Hollywood hills, a run down relic of the 1930's. They had some old bungalows in the back. "The Doors" movie is a must see. Val Kilmer learned to sing 50 Doors songs for the role. Upon hearing his demo's the surviving members of the band couldn't tell Val's vocals from Jim's.
The Doors film was good enough to get me into the band, but was heavily criticised for being historically inaccurate and for creating a false impression of Jim Morrison. Look up the real Jim Morrison on loads of documentaries available online. Æ 🙏
I wouldn't go as far as saying it's a must see; the movie was filled with bullshit. Morrison, man. And those dudes behind him taking him wherever he wants to go. And that voice.....Crooner, Bluesman, soft, spoken and a primal roar like no other.
