Love this community!

The Stone Roses
My guy!! You are our favorite reactor we love how genuine and positive you are! We gotta get us some of your merch! All love brotha🙌🏽💜
I'm almost 73 now, but was 15 when the Doors turned me on to what hot rock and roll was all about. This song still kicks my butt! Blues rock at it's finest. You guys are responding like we did in the day. So refreshing, rock on!
It's amazing how interest in the Doors comes back about every other generation. They sound as innovative and contemporary today as in 1968.
💯
"RIDERS ON THE STORM", one of their best, Y'all got to listen to it.
I SECOND THAT!
THIRD THAT!
LOVE IT!!!
💚💙💜
yes must listen to this
It's a must do! You will love the piano in Riders on the Storm!!
LA Woman, Light My Fire, Riders on the Storm, Break on Through, Love Her Madly should be the next Doors songs to react to
Agreed, all good songs!
What he said!
Wow my playlist exactly.....
yassss
Those but I would add Crystal Ship to that list
Jim Morrison was buried at the super famous cemetery in Paris, Père Lachaise Cemetery. You cannot believe all of the crazy famous people buried there. Will never forget going there one grey, frigid day a few days before Christmas. Cobblestone streets in this very large cemetery. We were looking for specific people's graves and Jim's was one of them. Hardly a soul in the cemetery until we got to his grave. Apparently, always a crowd. Really like a shrine.
They were a one of-a-kind band. you can't confuse them with anyone else. Killer
Don't expect straight up blues from them in every song. They could be bluesy, but they were also very psychedelic, sometimes a bit jazzy, and out and out rock, but in all facets, they were......The Doors.
Truth.👍
"What's his name?" chuckle
Absolutely great !!1
well said!
@@The_DC_Kid Jim Morison
The piano guy is the legendary Ray Manzarek. May he rest in eternal peace. You want to hear
some real legendary Manzarek stuff listen to Riders on the Storm. That song is probably in the
top 5 greatest songs ever recorded.
And the harmonica was John Sebastian "Welcome Back" :-)
100% Agree about Riders on the Storm. I fell in love with it at first listen (on vacation at the lake resort's tavern when I was 13, discovered root beer that same day, lol.)
@@CuzKatieSaysSo Barqs. Yum.
Definitely Riders on the Storm! Manzarek's keyboard work on that song ranks as my #1 favorite keyboard.
Hard to relay the impact this group had to these young people.
One of my all-time favorite groups. I don't believe the musicians behind Jim Morrison get enough credit the musicianship of the band is amazing.
Robby Krieger was right there writing the songs with Jim. They were all amazing.
Isn't that always the case :-(
Ray Manzerik was the sound of the band
Its the iconic jim Morrison.
Couldn't agree more. I have DVD of live shows they did. They were really good musicians
They are Jim Morrison, vocals, Ray Manzarek, keyboards, Robby Krieger, guitarist, John Densmore, drums. So much great music from 4 people!
You just cannot go wrong with The Doors!
Yuu've got that right
Word!
so many iconic songs: when the music's over, the end, LA woman...
Cops in cars - topless bars - never saw a woman so alone. So alone.
unknown soldier
remember....the Doors are an ACID ROCK band. Some very trippy songs lol
Five to one.
Jim Morrison was the voice of the band but the band was one of the most perfectly tight bands in history-in every song they ever did the music was so perfect. Morrison had a terrific band backing him up.
The lead singer, Jim Morrison, is legend. The Doors burst on the music scene in 1967 with their great song, "Light My Fire." They, with bands like Cream; Buffalo Springfield; Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and more, really changed the music of the late Sixties
"Well I woke up this mornin' and I got myself a beer" - one of the most iconic lines in rock.
"The future's uncertain and the end is always near"!
I can't drink beer in the morning, that's just plain nasty....
Alice Cooper claims he came up with that line .
It was kind of Jim's lifestyle anthem. He had a hard and fast rule.... no hard liquor before 9am. Unless it was a special occasion. Like, the sun rose that day.
@@kevindonachie1593 I don't think Jim needed much help with that one.
Jim Morrison was a hot talented mess 😂 I love The Doors. Riders on the Storm, This is the End, Five to One ... LOVE THEM 💜💙
you said it.! a HOT MESS, extremely talented....RIP JIM.
He was a poetic genius IMHO
You called my 3 fav
I follow a few reactors, love you guys. I’m 70 years old and have been listening to some of this music for 50 plus years. Seeing your delite and your comments have given me a new appreciation for the music I grew up with. Keep up the great work.
Keep rocking in my 60's
big ole ditto, 87 here in NM and watching your enjoyment, gettin with the beat made my day!!!!
Same here. I miss the '70's
One of the great bands of the 60's its hard to believe they are gone
But this was released in 1970
Amber, you'll like the Doors.
The late lead singer, Jim Morrison, was a poet.
Also, Jim is part of the '27' club.
Ray Manzerak on keyboards, Robby Krieger on guitar, John Densmore on drums
And John Sebastian on harmonica on this track!
@@james7706 Yeah. I saw them in Boston when their first album came out. I was shocked there wasn't a bass player. The lead off band was this group called the Stone Poneys with a young woman singer named Linda Ronstadt, I immediately fell in love.
The Doors were great. No doubt. But Morrison wasn't really a poet. He took a lot of acid and scribbled words. He gets far too much attention. He was kinda flakey. The sounds are incredible though. Never tire of them.
@@timlynch5710 Read or listen to American Prayer. He definitely write.
Lonnie Mack guested on bass and John Sebastian on harmonica for this track.
Robby Krieger was such a criminally underrated guitarist. He was amazingly in all their songs.
Forreal and the fact that he played electric guitar with his fingers flamenco style
Robert G, those of us that grew up with The Doors know that Robby was one of the finest guitarists of the time. Just look at all of the different styles of their songs and know he mastered them all.
Spanish Caravan... Fucking magic. I always dug The Doors. But it wasn't until I was about 26 that REEEEAAALLY was able to appreciate them. Like being a child and being fed food. Then as an adult being able to properly enjoy the flavors on your palette. Pure nourishment! They really were the doors to something new and unknown back then. Still holds true today!
Do it Robbie, do it
He's not under rated, he's a fucking legend.
"Riders On The Strom" "Break On Through" "Light My Fire" "Changeling" ALL are superb
Being a child of the 50s and 60s, born in 1951, I love that you guys are discovering and digging the music from the Golden Era of Rock and Roll, blues, R&B, etc. It was a period of incredible creativity in music.
A little context for you, a "road house" was a precursor of truck stops. On most major highways that trucks traveled road houses were abundant. Out back of the road house were one room "bungaloes" where ladies of the evening plied their trade.
Very well said.long live rock n roll
I ALWAYS said to my mom, " I'm so jealous of you. I cant remember the first time I heard "Satisfaction " or any of these amazing songs that I grew up hearing. I just always knew them!!✌
Road house blues is from 1970
As someone also born in '51 You're spot on!
Jim Morrison, like Janis, is a member of the 27 club. Tortured souls make incredible music. If only we could help them conquer their demons and stay a while.
along with Jimi Hendrix and Amy Winehouse
And Kurt Cobain.
The difference is Jim wouldn't have been 300 pounds by 1980 had he lived, I'd bet the farm Janis would have been at least 300....lol
yes Jim , JImi and Janis are known as the iconic 3
Brian Jones
When the music’s over, LA woman, the end, people are strange, love me two times, light my fire. So many great songs. He was a musical genius! If you get the chance find a concert from back then of them. He did a lot of spontaneous poetry. Absolute genius!
^^^100% this^^^
@@malkum61 I often thought if I could go back in time and see any event in history I'd go back and see The Doors perform When the Music's Over in the Whiskey a Go Go for very the first time. I read the crowd was completely stunned by the performance.
I had a friend who saw them and Morrison was so stoned he just sat on the edge of the stage and recited poetry for a couple of hours
Love it!
"When I woke up this morning and I got myself a beer", yes, that's my young self talking! Great reaction Jay & Amber..
I believe he says a beard. I always thought he said beer.
Glad you dig The Doors! I'm an old woman and I still rock out. The bungalows for the people who like to go down slow!!!!
The doors is one of those bands that doesn't stick to one genre. When you explore the doors you're going into different categories of experimental and fascinating music. No song sounds the same.
Adore Jim Morrison! He has such a haunting voice…

"Haunting", interesting descriptor. On many songs, very much so.
Jim Morrison was The Doors' lead singer and he was absolutely one of the greatest of Rock legends. I'm glad you guys found The Doors. It's been a pleasure listening with you.
You know, you two make me feel like I'm 300yrs old. It's great to see you enjoying music that has been in my DNA for decades but it's rough knowledge to be aware that you have much more life behind you than you could ever hope to have in front of you.…

Waiting for The Sun
When the Music's Over
The End
Light my fire People are strange

Crystal Ship & Five to One
Raiders on the storm💖
Love the fact that there is a smile on Amber's face within seconds of the music starting. Glad you both loved this, one of my favourite songs by one of my favourite bands.
You guys probably know this by now, but Jim Morrison is one the most iconic rock & roll singers of all time. His life was legendary...
On the live version of this song, Jim Morrison says "Alright alright alright!" which is what inspired Matthew McConaughey to have Wooderson say it in Dazed and Confused.
Absolutely Live. Also Pretty neat pretty neat. Pretty good Pretty good. Alright.
I have requested The Doors a couple of times. Glad to finally hear them. Amber should really enjoy Love Her Madly, Light My Fire, Touch Me, Hello I Love You, Break On Through... and Riders On the Storm.
Obviously, I think she will love their whole discography.
That piano is Ray Manzarek…one of the greatest keyboardist of all time. The old joke is “who plays bass in the Doors?” Ray’s Left Hand! They didn’t have a bass player. He played a bass organ w his left hand and keys w his right. Brilliant!
The mixture of psychedelic and Blues made the Doors the best American band ever.
That sir is a harmonica. Love the Doors. Next listen to people are strange.
Love that song!
It’s actually a harp, blues harp. Even John Lennon would tell you that.
"The future's uncertain and the end is always near". Jim Morrison was the lizard king. The poet laureate of the 60's You could spend the next month reacting to all the great songs the Doors produced in the short time before his death and probably miss some along the way. The Doors were one of THE bands to really make an impact in that era(and still today).
I took an American Poetry course in college in the 80s. First day of class, professor asks us, "Who can name an American poet?" Some dude's hand shoots up, and you know what he said. :D Professor wasn't down with the answer but i was.
Yeah man, that line was and is Profound!
"The future's uncertain and the end is always near"
That's not exactly the greatest example of lyricism and/or poetry now is it. My mom used to say silly stuff like that as did my granny before her.
"I woke up this morning and I got myself a beer"
From the same song. Now that's a sentence that paints a different picture.
@@djKeu It wasn't meant to be lyrical it was a statement of fact. One that holds true to this very day.
Bob Marley tagged Jim Morrison as "Mr.Mojo Risen"..
I'm 67...been listening to the doors since I was 14 or so...I remember 20 years or so ago I'd picked up our son and daughter and 1 of my son's friends. Had the doors playing. The kid asked if this was a new band ..my son said they are old like my dad!!! Timeless
The future's uncertain and the end is always near......let it ROLL, BABY ROLL....love this tune.
Ray Manzarek on keyboards is the underrated heart of this band. The Doors have no bass guitar player at all. As i understand it, when they had once thought to add a bass player early on, Ray Manzarek experimented instead with a "bass keyboard" and from that time on, they never considered having a electric bass player and all the rhythm normally kept with the bass and drums, are instead utilizing the bass keyboard and drums as rhythm section. And all the while, Ray is playing the normal "lead" keyboard music also. I have never heard of another band doing such a thing.
Ray Neapolitan was their regular bass player during the Morrison Hotel sessions, but the day the base lines for Roadhouse Blues were recorded Ray was stuck in traffic, and Lonnie Mack just happen to have been in the studio as he was working for Electra A&R at the time - Yea, I'm a Doors freak, read the book No One Here Gets Out Alive - and an aside : Oliver Stones movie was a shit box of lies and garbage, though Val Kilmer was excellent,.. Oliver Stone is a fucking hack, Ray Manzarek not only hated Stone for the what he did to their story and to Jim's memory, he refused to even speak about the movie later and would literally get up and leave an interview if Stones Movie was brought up
I would like for you to do a reaction video to the changeling from there last album LA woman
This was the album they had a bass player on
@@eximusic Actually, they used a studio bassist on every album they recorded, Ray used the Fender Rhoades Bass piano to carry the bass duties when they were on stage
Side note, Formation: the Doors were originally Rick & the Ravens, with Ray, Rick, and Jim Manzarek, along with John Densmore on Drums and Patty Sullivan on Bass, When Ray's brothers left the band Ray recruited Morrison to sing and they brought in Robbie Krieger on guitar, they auditioned several bass players that none of them liked, so Ray decided to use the Fender Rhodes to handle bass work and they went without a bass player. they were planning to recuit a bass player eventually, but then got signed to elektra and they just said "fuck it" and went on without one - I know thats more information than you'd ever need, but I'm a self made library of useless Doors information :)
I have loved the doors for so so many years. I hate that Jim passed away so young!! What a great frontman he was for the band. They have so so many great songs, all very different! The whole band was very talented !! Great choice today!! I hope you grow to love them too!! Jim’s voice for me is haunting as hell. Robby is the guitarist, I’m telling you because when Jim says “ do it Robbie do it” . NEXT….” Light my fire” by the doors
They have a bunch of great songs but one of my absolute favorites is Don't You Love Her Madly. There's just something so beautiful about it. Rest in peace Jim.
GLORIA-cover is like nasty blues. He took a nice song and just twisted every ounce of moisture out of it!!
The Doors is practically the soundtrack of the 60's.
If you’re from SoCal
It doesn't get listed often, but their "Soft Parade" is worth a listen.
Soft Parade is the best of the best. My all time favorite of theirs.
'Back of the roadhouse they got some bungalows'-- bungalows are little cottages... :)
JIM IS AN ADONNIS! SOOO PERFECT- his facial features!!! Kim
For The Doors you've got to listen to "L.A. Woman" and "Riders On The Storm", two of their biggest hits and both outstanding songs. Also, one of my favorites that you didn't hear much back in the day and rarely hear now, "The WASP (Texas Radio And The Big Beat)"
And for some low down, dirty, sleazy blues, it would be hard to beat The Doors doing "Car Hiss By My Window".
How about 'You Need Meat'? Now, there is some dirty sleazy blues from them!
Jim Morrison is the lead singer and he has so many different sounds. All GOOD!!!
Can't go wrong with the Doors. I love your reactions and I'm getting to hear music that I've forgotten or hearing again can't thank Jay and Amber enough ❤️
Touch Me is a wonderful song
The Doors are the definition of west coast rock late 60s early 70s
Other songs: LA Woman, Five to One , Peace Frog, Backdoor Man, Soft Parade, The Changeling and Riders on the Storm.
You can't go wrong with The Doors, People are Strange, Break on Thorough, Love Her Madly. You guys are about to start a journey!
I remember my momma saying how cool their concert was ,at the Hollywood bowl.I wish I could have been there
I saw the doors in 1967. My all time favorite group. The bare chested poster of Jim hung on my wall at age 14 and still hangs on my wall at age 71
Never play this when driving. It recalibrates your sense of 'safe speed' to be about 20mph too high
I've never read a more accurate statement about this song.
True story!!
Nailed it! Only listen to when cruising out west with no traffic!
LA Woman too

My absolutely favorite Doors song is “People are Strange”. The Doors are an absolutely amazing and influential group, One of my top all time bands to listen to
My brother had the 45, with "Riders on the Storm" and "People are Strange". Pretty sure we played it over and over.
@@joelspringman7748 Hi, honey. I also listened to the Doors on my record player.
People are strange is basically a premonition for the human oddities we see today

Fav band. So unique. At time when bands were singing about peace flowers and love this band was singing chaos, death, revolution and spiritual introspection. Not to mention they are phenomenal musicians with an off the charts singer with a poetic soul. Seriously Astounding.
Peace Frog is a great Doors song. Kind of a deep cut, but a real banger.
Jim Morrison was a poet he had sever stage fright he would perform with his back to the crowd he is the lizard king
When Jim gets so into his bluesyness he makes up his own language UH!!!!! got to roll roll roll ya got to thrill my soul
This is epic Doors rocking out and me too at 72 years old. Peace out you too. Its far out times in the late 60s you both would of loved it.
Riders on the Storm really brings out Jim Morrison’s voice and the Doors musicality!! 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
Their best song. So many great ones but Riders on the storm is perfect. As good as any song by any artist.
Fun fact: the Doors did not have a bass player. The “bass” notes you hear are made with a synthesizer.
Also, the singer, Jim Morrison, once or twice “sings” what you think is the guitar solo in a song. It sounds like a guitar but it’s just him making guitar noises into a microphone.
Incorrect, Manzarek played the bass parts on a Fender Rhodes piano keyboard bass,.. it was not a synth, Though in the studio the bass lines were played by Lonnie Mack
They did add a session bass player on some songs in their latter albums. I don’t remember his name, don’t wanna Google, but they hired Elvis’ bass player on songs like Touch Me, most of the L.A. Woman album, some tracks off of Morrison Hotel (Peace Frog leaps to mind).
@@XXMycroftX couple things.
First of all, the Rhodes as absolutely a synthesizer. You can argue semantics all day long, but a keyboard that makes sound other than standard piano sounds is called a synthesizer. I don’t make the rules, but you don’t get to change them to look smart on the internet.
Second, listing off studio bassists who laid down tracks with them does not make those people band members. Kerry King laid down lead tracks with Pantera but he wasn’t a member.
@@showmesomethingnew2678 I never said Lonnie Mack or Ray Neapolitan were members of the Doors, Not even close. they took part in the recording of Morrison Hotel and Lonnie specifically on that song, which makes them hired guns, studio musicians,... as for the synth, not synth question, The Fender Rhodes Piano was called a piano, not a Synthesizer, it's called a piano by Fender, and in every musical insturment catalogue I've ever seen it in,.... a "synthesizer" is technically defined as "an electronic musical instrument, typically operated by a keyboard, producing a wide variety of sounds by generating and combining signals of different frequencies." so I suppose a Wurlitzer Piano is a synth by your description as well, but ask a pianist, he'll beg to differ with you
@@XXMycroftX I’ve got a better idea than this. Let’s have some respect for Jay and Amber and not do this on their thread. You just have a good night and keep loving music, and I’ll do the same. None of the rest of it really matters.
One of my favorite Doors song! “ yeah I woke up this morning and I got myself a beer”! 🍺
The singer is Jim Morrison. Wrote most of their songs. Soul of a poet. Died in 1968 I think, in Paris. Gone way too soon.
May I suggest "Peace Frog" by The Doors!! No one ever reacts to this one and it is so funky and trippy!! Right up your alley, Amber!!!
The Doors are: Jim Morrison - Vocals, Ray Manzarek - Keys, Robbie Kreiger - Guitar, John Densmore - Drums
I'm just watching some of your old videos & as a new subscriber , I really appreciate you for highlighting such an iconic band 👍 thanks so much for sharing this ✌️
Funny story: I was a young Marine in Okinawa Japan, and went into a bar because I heard live music, It was a Japanese band and they played covers of well known American songs(they did Piece of My Heart and the tiny Japanese girl sounded just like Janis Joplin!!). Anyway, they played Roadhouse Blues, and because they were native Japanese, they couldn;t pronounce some of our consanant sounds. So they sang "Wet it Whoa, baby, Whoa!!Arr night wong!"

Imagine discovering the Doors for the first time!
Jim Morrison was a deep, yet troubled poet. Unfortunately, he lost the battle with his demons, but not before sharing some amazing music with the world. RIP Mr. Mojo Risin (an anagram by which he called himself).
A poet who rhymed "fire" with "fire"... But seriously, an amazing talent and a huge influence on so many great artists who came after.
“Riders on the Storm” is an ICONIC track from the Doors that I know you guys would also love. Just ask Jamel (aka Jamal)!
By far my favorite Doors song, not pretentious, not dramatically over-intellectualized but pure bluesy rock and roll. Total cool. 😎
Amazing that younger folks have never heard of Jim Morrison. But then I’m from that era, so I guess it makes sense. Just so happy to see younger generations finding this fantastic talent/music. They did a gig on The Ed Sullivan Show in which they were told to change a lyric on a live broadcast. They didn’t - it was historical. Y’all oughta check it out. There are plenty of videos of it out there. I remember watching it at the time. Jim broke the rules as always and it was the best!
there are too many songs to suggest: a treasure trove. Jim Morrison is the only singer/artist whose grave I wanted to and did visit in Paris. (There is no longer a stone top/headstone, etc. as they are continually taken) - listen to as many as possible, you will love them all.
I did not know that. Wow. So sad. People are crazy. Must have been so cool to be there. Cheers!

Best Description of His Band. In his inimitable style..The One and Only..
An American Poet.
Born in the USA, Rests in Paris. Conquered the World of Music in his short-yet-larger-than-life time of 27 years on earth. Gone too Soon. But Never Forgotten.
That's a quote from Aldous Huxley not Jim. Jim did get the idea for the bands name from it tho.

"The Doors of Perception" - from author Aldous Huxley was the inspiration of the group's name
"Peace Frog" really nails The Doors musical vibe.

LA Woman is literally one of the best rock songs ever written. From the music score to the lyrics and imagery it truly is a magical piece
One of the greatest ever bands with probably a top five vocalist imho. Just stonking music. LA Woman, Moonlight Drive, Texas and the Big Beat, Riders On the Storm, Come and Light My Fire and The End will blow you away.
