- I made a spoof of this video: • This is my BMW R1200GS
I love riding motorcycles, any kind of motorcycle. It just so happens that right now I have a KLR650, and in my mind that means it must be the best motorcycle in the world. In time I will get a different motorcycle, and it will become the best motorcycle in the world.
This film is about loving, and riding what you have now. Stop worrying about not being able to afford your dream bike, and just enjoy this moment with whatever motorcycle you may have.
The footage in this video comes from all over Panama. Beaches, mountains, even a quick shot of the bridge of the Americas which crosses the Panama Canal.
Written, directed, filmed, edited, and narrated by; Ryan Grassley
Song: Long Road Ahead
Artist: Kevin MacLeod

Best motorcycle promo ever
As of right now (166 views), either 166 people totally justified buying this bike or will buy this bike. Best KLR video on youtube. Love the vids. Can't wait for the full "vulcan beru" (sp?)
As an avid KLR650 owner, rider, enthusiast, I know exactly what you are saying. In reality no one will try convince anyone that they are the best, or most powerful. BUT, when I load up, and head out, it is not a ride,....its an adventure. I dont have to convince anyone its the best, they stop me whether at a gas station, pub, or the roadside, and by the look of joy on my face they know its the best ( for me ) and they always let me know. Love the video brother!!
Had to come back and watch this again after a couple of years, still very inspiring and it is a hit Sir.
OK well that's a first. An ode to KLR. Put a big lump in my throat. At age 74 I guess most of my off road travels are behind me but my 2009 gen 2 took me to the Arctic/Alaska twice and all over the west coast. Those are memories that I hope even dementia won't take away! Thanks for the effort you took.
Still chokes me up after 11 years. Your films the best!
Dude i cant explain how much respect i feel for you! I love riding and even if im not really good yet, i know i need 2 wheels. I hope some day i will have guts like yours and will find my freedom! Thanks for all your videos. Greetings from Turkey
Almost made me cry... so beautiful...
The most inspiring video on UA-cam. Not just about motorcycles but about life as well. People like Carl Sagan don't come close.
I watched this vid not long before I bought a KLR. I've had it about 15 months now (first bike), and recently I made it up to the Sierra to run around old dirt roads and camp. Tyler Foote Crossing Road is a Gold Rush-era piece of hand-made dirt carved on the side of a ravine with giant stacked rock walls to hold up the road bed. As I bumped along the rainsoaked dirt on the edge of this 300' drop, the river far below, I finally felt like I was getting there. Thanks for the inspiration!
That was a beautiful poetic video, thank you for posting this.
I love this. Again. How are things going?
Best KLR video ever. :) Well done. Very Professional!
love, love, loved it!
Awesomeness!!! Right behind ya on my KLR
Well said. It's one of a kind journey every ride I take on my KLR.
I love this video so much, I’m buying my first dualsport tomorrow and was doing research and this just made me so happy
I`ve watched this multiple times now, and just couldn`t have put it better myself.
Motorcycling described to perfection in 2minutes 18 seconds.
....still one of my all time favourite videos. Thanks again, all the best.
I share every word, the sense of greatness, the idea to love what you have, just amazing.
Cool video.Makes me feel proud that I own a 09'.Went to the Snohomish river last night, full moon.I found this dirt road running along the river,so awesome. One minute I was in the city of Everett,WA.the next minute I'm in the Toolies.
Your an inspiration to us all! I just got a 1993 Suzuki DR350S and it is going to take me on adventures and make me feel free.
Quite literally brought a tear to my eye. Beautiful...
Excellent video.
I have a 2006 just like that, so much freedom and fun.
You can get the plastic discoloration out by using a torch passing quickly and progressively closer. It vanishes like magic.
Beautiful, eloquent--the reason we all love to ride. Thank you!
I couldn't have said it any better. Great words bro! You're like the Thoreau of our time.
This is great, regardless of what bike I'm riding, this is how I feel..
Amen brother. I've watched most of your videos and I think this one is my favorite. It makes me want to get on my KLR and disappear for a while everytime I watch it. Thanks for the great videos!
For more than a year now i tried to find something else than a klr, because it's old, got no fuel injection, no abs, not very fast...but the truth is i feel exactly like you, and with videos like this, next mounth i'll finally buy MY KLR !!! Thank's
This video speaks to my soul.
just right ! That's real biking, adventure , discovery, space& peace ... a great vid ,thank you!
@MADMARK00 Thanks man, glad to hear you enjoyed it. I was really happy with how it turned out.
Step 1) Buy KLR
Step 2) Adventure so super hard on KLR
Step 3) Write badass sonnets for KLR in appreciation
Your video inspires me.
Props to this fucking vibe. Just got a KLR 650 and had my first mini adventure on it in the woods a couple days ago. Can't wait for many more!
You made me almost cry. I'm selling my 09, and yet, i love this bike so much that I fear the new to me V Strom 1000 may never be able to do for me what my last year and 15000 miles on this wonderful machine has done for me. Great video, it really got to me.
This man does not care for chrome, for dust & good looks, he rides to get lost, he rides to get disappered, he did not buy the KLR to ride up & down on main streams, he rides it for adventure & the KLR is his ticket for un-limited adventure- I just want to give him my highest salutations for his love & unfreezing zeal-
She's already decided she likes the Yamaha TW200 because it's small and weak enough for her to learn on, but also "it's cute." I'm pretty rusty myself, not having ridden in, oh, 30 years or so. We can probably teach our daughter on it, too. Eventually we'll have to have a family of bikes, I can see already. I showed her this video and her face lit up in a huge smile. Great work, man!
klr650 is the gateway to the world. awesome video!!
Man, I completely understand you. I even shed a tear.
You said in this video what I've always been thinking, thanks for making this
Just simply amazing, and inspiring
I've watched this one countless times before, but every time someone shares a link I watch it again. It is incredibly inspiring as I wait for some parts to get in so I feel less like the old girl won't leave me on the side of the road
You couldn't have said it any better than that;) Hands down the best description of dualsporter's like us out there....Well done!
Oh halfthrottle, you have no idea how much inspiration your videos have provided Beej. In the days Before The Bike, your videos rode the line between keeping him sane and driving him crazy. As Beej's smaller, 400cc adventure buddy (I'm on a DRZ), I have to say that I've been pretty fueled by your videos too, especially this one. Thanks for making 'em!
Honestly that was kind of inspiring, makes me want to get a dual sport and just go ride for days
Back again. Geez I love this video.
Man that was inspiring. I've seen hundreds of videos but this one is so far the one that meet the most my reasons on why i want a KLR650. Because i want to disappear...to find a quiet place...to enjoy solitude for a wile.
Of the best posts on motorcycles seen on youtube ...
Congratulations and greetings
Medel
@Wilks89 Thx amigo. Good to know people are enjoying them. I was a little worried about posting my musings on youtube, glad they have been accepted.
Very inspiring! I wanna go get a dual sport bike now, and ride to Panama.
This is a ticket to unlimited adventure... and this is a great video.
This is the greatest KLR video ever. Kawasaki should use this as their official ad. Lol. This is what it's all about. Great video!!
Well said man, my KLR is the best bike I have ever had the pleasure to have ridden.
Keep it rolling mate!
Beautiful.
I just bought my first bike today. A KLR 650. I feel like I made the right choice, especially after this video.
Best KLR video. Love mine.
@halfthrottle
I must say that my KLR has been the source of innumerable smiles, for the very reasons you cited. I have other bikes and they're all good for different purposes, but the KLR is my bike of choice for the times when I just want to "get lost". There's nothing like exploring fire roads or canyons or even that trip through Big Sur.
If tomorrow someone told me that I could only have one bike, the KLR would be the one.
amazing!
When I read this I thought of you and this intro video: “Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
WOW! That brought a damn tear to eye.
Your videos are nothing short of epic...love em!! "I dont ride to be seen, I ride to disappear." That has to be the most profound thing I have heard in a long time.
You just inspired me. I don't even own a bike, but because of this video, I will.
I want one of these and btw I have a rusty old 91 s10 that I take into places that would make people cringe. It is paid for and I love it. May you have many more adventures and many more years of good health.
Great idea, superb cut and last but not least the voice of halfthrottle! :-)
Always a pleasure to see your creations.
gracias hermano ! tengo mi klr y pienso lo mismo !!! me lograste emocionar !
Man, you have to make more videos. I love travel videos and found you while looking for stuff about Panama. I hate motorcycles but I think you are hilarious!! I like the driving through town and talking bits. Really good stuff.
Thanks so much for posting it to the community site. I am so jealous! Great Adventure Great video. I love to see motorcyclists raising the bar! Fantastic!!!
Wonderful video. I too have the mighty KLR. Hope you heal up well.
no doubt bout it!! have a nice trip
About to buy a 2012 model, they really are fantastic bikes... Great vid
For speed ride a crotch rocket.
For style ride a Harley.
For reliability ride a klr650.
I just came across your videos and I'm hooked. You're a great story teller.
Absolutely marvellous !
Amazing video! You have the spirit of motorcyclist, klr 650 2014 owner, regards from Venezuela!!
I hope everything in your country gets back to normal soon.
love the video, i do same with my 1993 klr650 always reliable so far
Absolutely awesome video!! The BEST KLR650 video ever made.
Well i have a old XL 250 and i want a newer one that i can go off road with but watchin this just got me pretty much sold l
Awesome man. Love this and your BMW spoof. The true heart of riding.
Awesome story amigo. I'm glad your KLR is helping you live the life you want.
Owner of a KLR -98, and I don't feel that it is a slow bike, it's more like my best friend in nature, and it has all the power I need (y)
Really like this video (y) It's not what you have, it's about what you do with it and the intent while doing so!
It was too good. That video with the music was so professional
that I missed the first part because I thought from the sound
it was a commercial. :)
Amen, Brother HT!!!! Amen!
Thanks amigo I'm glad you enjoyed it.
One thing i realy don´t agree with you, i find the KLR 650 very beautifull
@humbleradio Had to look it up on UA-cam. Haven't seen the movie since I was a kid. Great opening.
truly inspiring
@XDsubcompact If I had a friend with a KTM I would have made a video about KTM's being the best motorcycles in the world long ago. I just don't have access to one that I can spend a day filming. All bikes are good at the purpose they were built for. Ever notice how good Harley's look in the back of a trailer? They were designed for that.
What a fantastic video, this deserves alot more views.
@motorbikemikexb9 Flattery will get you everywhere. Glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you for uploading this! Im happy I found this. I have a love for motorcycles. I got my dirt bike a couple years ago,it was an 80cc yamaha. My cousins and friends always made fun of me because I never "went fast". They called me pussies and it made me upset. Well fuck them, its my bike and I "loved" riding it. Now im looking at this bike, for awesome off-road adventures, but also getting me to school and back.
Thank you!
Best KLR vid ever man, way to go...
That's probably the best video i've ever seen on youtube.
@halfthrottle Dude you're making me want to make the move from Utah to Panama. Horrible, miserable, rainy, muck-filled day? No better day on a KLR, especially when tackling a country's biggest mountain. I can't wait. Just for kicks, which tires do you like?
I think you might be the patron saint of motorcycles
Wow. You really love your KLR650.
You completely nailed it. Mine is even older and uglier (89). Everyone makes fun of it. But I can't imagine a better bike for what I like to do. Thanks for putting my thoughts into a format like this.
@dirkbikeman1001 It's important to love whatever motorcycle you ride. And you can't go wrong with a KLR look around for a good used one, you can usually find KLR's that were tricked out for long adventures that never happened. So great bike with all the extra's with low miles. Happy riding.
you hit the nail on the head!
love it, great vid, hope they pick it up and more people get to see it.
Great video, this should be an ad for Kawasaki.
"To find someplace silent" In todays world that is priceless.
