1 TowMan 2 skates and a snatch block
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 лют 2025
- In this video I am using skates and a snatch block to load a 2018 Audi A6 onto the bed. The vehicle has power but not getting power to the inside. The key fobs aren't working and nothing inside works. The transmission was stuck in park and the electronic parking brake was stuck on. Using the shift lock override allows me to put the vehicle into neutral so the front wheels can roll and not drag it. The skates allow me to pull the vehicles rear wheels while the front wheels roll. Ohhhhh why didn’t I watch this before I ordered my truck . That remote makes life soooo much simpler and easier
Morning! Yes the remote is awesome! It is definitely an option to order when ordering a truck. It’s like having an extra person helping you. You can always add it on.
You can still order it and set it up. There is a receiver under the bed in rear near the levers on the inside. Order a lodar remote and look up the programming. Also a valve there that will adjust the speed of the winch for the remote
Let me tell you this guy has skills that's a low car loaded from the back. He knows how to use his equipment and make it look easy. Well done
Thanks! 🤜🤛
I dunno i just started 3 weeks ago never touched a tow truck before , been doing good with it except no skates just drag er on up
From one tow driver to another, thank you for this education video, I am always up for learning new things, be safe out there bro and god speed!
Thanks for watching and you’re welcome. You be safe as well. God bless!
And those skates can be holy grails! I used to use them for more things than youd expect, if I had a low car I would even tuck it under the bumper to keep from scraping the bumper, or a low exhaust, really anything that I didnt want scratching
I love my skates!!! I flip them over and put a 4x4x36 in front of them and use it like ramps. Works perfect!
Never thought about the bumper. These folks up here love their WRX's. That will make it so much easier. 🤘
Smart. Thank you so much
@@connoisseuroftigolbitts it helps to put them under like anything that shouldn’t rub they’re my favorite device
@@jennadeknight9056 yes thank you so much I learn something new everyday
Well done....I wish skates would slide that good on my aluminum bed.. it's got traction ribs & skates catch. I'm diggin' that green snatch block.. matches my truck.... lol
@@MegaRambo456 Definitely not... You don't want grease on the bed... 100% no
Get an old set of license plates and put them under the skates when going up the bed and they should slide. I personally don’t like putting any slippery stuff on my bed.
@@woody4u247 To be specific not grease but a sort of lubricant that don't stick and you don't spray on the bed just underneath the skates.
Between the overide and the j-hook spots I just learned two new things. This is why you have 13m subs. your one of the best dam teachers out there in Towland. Thank you!

Just wanted to stop by and say thank you for the shift lock videos. Repo man here, if i ever have a brain block or just dont know i look up your vids. Thanks man. Keep it up.
You’re welcome! Glad the videos help. Thanks for the support and be safe out there.
good stuff brother you have saved me more time and headache over the past wow many years with your shiftlock videos and now with the skates I have been struggling with skates for years when offloading a vehicle the skates were always stuck under the tires I would have to beat them out with the hammer so when I seen you use the bed trick you did to remove the skates that was very helpful thanks brother be safe out there.
Thanks! Glad the videos are helpful. Skates are great but can be a PIA sometimes. I always try to share what works for me in hopes that it will help others. I have a video of myself offloading a 2024 Toyota Tundra with the parking brake stuck on. Video should be up soon. Be safe out there.
Just started doing this job in the UK and this is an excellent example of how to use the snatch block!
👍🤜🤛. If you ever have any questions, just leave me a comment and I can help you out.
@@TowMan127 thanks
@@chrismurray3198 you’re welcome
I was taught to push the wheel lift down to bring tail up to give more clearance, also so tail of deck doesn't drag ground, and to support the end of the bed rails when sliding in and out, especially since my truck is bagged. Well done sir, very professional. This is why people should subscribe to this channel
Everyone is taught differently. My truck was bagged as well. I don’t use the wheel lift for loading and unloading unless it’s a heavy machine or ambulance. When you have the proper tools, it makes your job so much easier. I try to not abuse the equipment as much as possible. A couple of skates, pieces of wood, snatch blocks, and a wheel chock or 2 are great to have.
@@TowMan127 I don't abuse mine either. Proper tools are key
@@markroadkillrecovery1168 yeah for sure and the truck lasts longer.
Thank you for your hard work in helping people in need of your services! And thank you for this educational video, be safe out there!!

Good job . Only thing I usually put my remote around my neck when I hop out.
I hate having anything around my neck which is why I don’t use it that way unless I have to.
first time viewer, love your content and think you did a fantastic job
@@Fordzilla6674 Thanks! Welcome to the channel
Honestly you made this tow harder than it should have been. You should have started with the snatch block. Question, if you put the car in neutral why then put the skates on the back tires?
I put it in neutral and used the skates on the rear tire cause the parking brake was stuck on
I was thinking the same thing over working his self also
Audi's are front wheel drive based so that's why he didn't need them under the front wheels. E-Brakes go to the rear wheels and that vehicle had an electronic one, don't want the tires scraping that far across the asphalt because they lock the wheels up like nobody's business. Is there a different method you would have done with the given information? I love learning new things man so don't take it the wrong way 🙏
@@TowMan127 but you were able to put it in neutral. Could you explain? I just started flatbed towing. But I have pretty good ideas on the concepts. I had a similar situation with a Range Rover but I didn't use skates and there was no key and I tried looking for the shift lock but couldn't find it. It was my 2nd flatbed tow ever.
@@Kama.Boy.13 I was able to get the vehicle into neutral which will allow the front wheels to roll when I winch it. The skates are used on the rear wheels cause the parking brake is electronic and they were stuck on. Most range rovers have a neutral override. Some are by the shifter, under the cup holder, under the engine cover, or on the transmission itself.
Get it bro bro! 🪝💪
🤜🤛
Dude I love your videos! You are always super slick.
Glad you do!!! Thanks for the support. More video coming soon. 🤜🤛
Glad I work for myself now 😊 keep it up brother

Towing is in my blood but over 20 years I realized I need to do it on my own terms 💯
@@jker5327 i definitely understand that!
I miss towing, but I don't miss the 20 dollar flat rate and hour long drives between each tow!!!!
Again...Excellent.
@@camerooneya9259 🫡🤜🤛
always love skates- you did also have enough room to back truck up to back of the car and wedge the bed under the skates- pulls easier :)
Yes, I had plenty of room to back directly up to the vehicle but the problem is the vehicle is in the driveway which slopes downward which would cause the rear of the vehicle to scrape the bed and the front wood scrape against the driveway.
Brand new subscriber from Maine. A friend put me onto your channel because he found your vid on putting a BMW 328xi in neutral. My steering wheel is locked and 2 tow companies that came, AAA, couldn't move it.
I knew there is a way to put it in neutral, to guys had no clue. I figure if we get it in neutral and in line with the roll back, they can drag it up. The front wheels are almost straight.
They are just lazy I guess.
Thanks for subscribing! Some guys just don’t know. 🤜🤛
Park + E brake is what i do just for extra safety
良い仕事だと思う!👏
So how do I step on the line if my set up doesn't have a remote?
I would recommend using a pool noodle. Cut it down the middle so you can slide it over the cable. I do that a lot to protect the bumpers from getting scratched
Make it look so easy idk why last night iwas pulling a rwd same way bmw but kept going to the left side maybe ididnt place them all the way under the wheel?
I try to place the skate all the way under the tire but sometimes a vehicle will shift. Sometimes I’ll have to use a snatch block multiple times cause the car wants to go to the side and it’s annoying. Sometimes you can in hook one side to straighten it out as well
Why not use the gojacks until u get it lined right up to the bed then drag it up
Hi great video can i ask why you used the slippery skates when the car rolled and you put in neutral? Bit confused
The parking brakes were stuck on. Putting it in neutral and using the skates on the rear wheels allows me to drag the vehicle without dragging the whole vehicle.
How about (Oodles of Noodles Foam Pool Swim Noodles, ) for the winch so you don’t really need to step on the bumper!! What are you think 💭??
It’s funny that you mention that because I actually have pool noodles that I normally use but forgot to use it on this video. I always use them on classics or low vehicles.
A new subscriber here... I enjoyed the lesson, thanks.
Thanks for watching and subscribing!!! 🤜🤛
Why you still need plate you got the car in neutral.
Parking brake was stuck on
Why did you use the scates to unload if you had the keys?
Parking brake was stuck
I got to say I love your videos but a few things why not just use the wrecker grab the back slap dollies and be out? Why not use a sling through the rim pull it sideways and then drag it straight up the deck? But the biggest one why would you ever stand on a winch line or let anyone drive over it I've seen what happens when a line breaks I've seen it get caught on a car driving over it I mean no disrespect and I'm not trying to bash you but there's so many senseless death and injury in our jobs that we can't avoid but standing on a winch line or letting someone drive over it these are things we can avoid
Hey where did u get the green attachment ? For the wire
You can buy them online. It’s called a snatch block. Here’s one on Amazon amzn.to/3PzVvvz
Electric e brakes are the stupidest invention. I never use them and tell customers to stop using them
Yeah they suck! Always issues with them.
Yeah some of them set automatically. When the vehicle has power you can take the brakes off and if not just use skates.
Use double skids under each wheel it will make it easier to skid. Other than that, keep up the great work.
If you get the skate under the tire all the way, they’ll work fine. Wife skates are great for the wide tires. 🤜🤛
Can you take a picture or a video of where the front tire is when you are unloading it? Thank you!
I will try and get a photo to show or a video. Whichever comes first.

Never mind u don't have any gojacks. I'd advise gettin a pair of em
I have a pair and they're ok for some things but they don't like to come on to the deck, that's where skates do it well
What kind of body cam you wear?
In this video I was using a GoPro on a head mount I upgraded to a DJI Osmo 3. Way better camera.
Good job Bro ;-)
Thanks! 🤜🤛
Should have requested wheel lift and dollies, Why didn't 85 do it?
Not sure. I have dollie’s as well but most of the time when I get to the dealership they want it in specific spots and it’s easier to offload it from the bed into a spot cause they don’t have a lot of room and tight turns at the dealership.
Keep half a pool noodle in the truck to put on the winch cable to keep from. Damaging bumper
I actually had a noodle in the toolbox just forgot about it.
Sliders, not skates ! Skates have wheels or rollers.
Why are you sliding it anyway, you have access to the car, release the parking brake . I am curious as to how you got in, if you have keys I am really confused as to what or why you are doing it this way.
@@WhiskeyGulf71 they’re called skates, the vehicle turns on and goes into gear but the parking brake had a malfunction and wouldn’t release which is why I did it the way I did. Hopefully that clears up your confusion. ✌️
Nope, still confused how the steering lock released but the park brake didn't, & I guess if you want to call them the wrong name, that's up to you, what would you call proper skates then ? The ones with wheels that lift the wheel off the ground ?
@@WhiskeyGulf71if you search skates on a tow supply store that’s what will pop up. You have skates, go jacks with wheels that lift the vehicle by the wheels and other rollers. Like I said the vehicle starts up and runs but sometimes the parking brakes malfunction and get stuck on without a way to release them without taking them apart which I won’t do
Please how do you called those lemon green small wheels chocks ?
Skates
Why did you even use the skates if the car rolled by itself?
Never mind question was answered
Why use skates if you can get it in neutral?
Oh shit I didn't realize it has an electric e brake, my bad
Jeeps are the worst w that
I hate electronic parking brakes
I actually like more that hammer 🔨 then the other one
It works fine for me and I haven’t had any issues with it but some people say with the hammer I was using it can break the skate.
If you wer able to put it in neutral why dont just push it out and load it straight up???
Parking brakes were stuck on.
Electric shifters and parking brakes are so dumb. Makes our jobs harder than what it has to be at times.
The shifters I don’t mind cause a lot of them have overrides. The electronic parking brakes are what I don’t like.
Dragging a car like that doesn’t damage your equipment? Like the winch.
No. The winches are strong and the vehicle was in neutral and the rear wheels were on skates so it slides easily
I really think I can do this for a living
You can ride along with someone and see if you like it.
Yeah I’d definitely recommend finding someone who knows what they’re doing.
I bought a Audi VW electronic brake release tool from auto zone for 85 bucks. Also Ceasar is this standing on the line thing something you still do?
I don’t always stand on the line 😂 I was rushing that day and I forgot I had a pool noodle in the box to put over the line. Didn’t know they had a brake release tool for them.
@@TowMan127 I left the link below
Why didn't u have cones out so ppl would know u were working and for ur safety?
Didn’t need it at that location.
Thia is why i hate flatbeds for most jobs other than bad wrecks and long distance tows. I would have had that audi on the road in a fraction of the time in my auto loader
Dumb parking brake was stuck on.
Wow clean it

Привет из России! Подписка одназначно!
👋 Thanks for subscribing!
First off if you were able to put it in neutral then there was no reason to use the skates as all wheels would roll freely when in neutral
@@towguy62 obviously you weren’t paying attention. Yes the transmission went into neutral but the parking brakes were stuck on which is why skates were used and why the vehicle was being towed.
En mi opinión no necesitas asegurarlo de todos lados
POV 👌
Am sure that after a year if he was in the same situation he would do it so different now.... I never put the car in neutral when using snatchblock!!
I’d do it the same way every time. The reason I put it in neutral is to allow the front wheels to roll amd not drag. The parking brake was stuck on which is why I used skates on the rear wheels. Putting the vehicle in neutral makes it easier than dragging it in park.
@TowMan127 facts I'd rather drag the brake over transmission any day but never drag if possible
😂and all this could have been avoided if they sent a 1 ton. Good video though
@@ajmalkhan-zf8sm small wrecker and dollies would’ve worked great but it wasn’t going local so they sent a bed.

A wheel lift and Dollies would be much faster and easier.
@@danp7463 yes it would be but I was sent in a rollback cause it wasn’t going local and they’d rather keep the wreckers local to get jobs done faster.

Con respecto no se me hace práctico lo que hizo si lo puede dejar en neutro y no se bloquea la dirección lo hubiera dejado recto y hubiera sido más fácil y más rapido
The parking brake was stuck on and I had to drag it out of the driveway to load it. If I would’ve loaded it from the driveway, I would have scraped the whole front bumper on the ground. I already had the transmission in neutral but the parking brake was stuck on and wouldn’t come off.
You couldn’t put the car in a parking stall
@@towguy62 I put it where they asked me to put it
That’s when a pool noodle comes in instead of standing on your wire rope just throw a pool noodle over it
I had one but forgot to use it cause I was rushing. I always keep noodles on the truck.
