LG Waveforce Washing Machine ClutchHub Assembly Replacement

After replacing the top my washer took a dump a month later in retaliation. Started with not being able to keep balance and throwing a code for "unbalanced load". Next was some occasional squealing or grinding noise which turned into totally not running. New assembly and 38mm socket got the job done.

11:40 great point with the seals. Mine are stuck i ended up the hub bearing assembly for 184 Canadian.

my washer is 12 years old. shame you can't replace the bearings in this, there's only 3. Part here is going to be almost $500 canadian shipped... plus waiting. a whole new machine is $815... wow... unreal

HI What were the symptoms of this part needing replacement? Mine is not making a heavy grinding sound but a more heavier swishing sound and I feel like it is going the way of yours. Great video Thanks . Like you I had to replace the top - rusted to hell and never use bleach as that is what LG accuses consumers of as the root cause of the rust. Just bad paint/rust proofing. Wish you had shown what the machine sounded like with the part going bad.

You might check the big nut on the very bottom in the center underneath. I had something like that prior and the nut actually came off so motor was moving but not spinning ajatator correctly.

Hey Bugman.
Quick question. I have this drama at the moment. I noted that there's a thing under the tub (looks a multispoke wheel (from 17mins)) how did you get that off?
I've drenched the thing in lubricant and given it a rather heavy few whacks but doesn't seem to want to budge. Any ideas?

Are you talking about the outside metal (rotor?) part at 6:33 or the part underneath with copper wiring wound on spokes ?

What was it doing for you to replace this? I replaced this part a couple years ago and I just recently replaced the suspension rods because the washer shakes and is noisy as hell the last 30 seconds of the final spin. That’s the only time it’s noisy.

I originally thought it was the suspension rods as it would shut down for unbalanced load and I didn’t think the grinding noise was the problem from the bottom agitator. I thought it was just slightly louder from being older but as more time progressed the grinding got pretty severe. Just laying the washer down to look at bottom showed the cracked plastic hub. It is easier to replace the clutch unit as a whole than to just buy the gear to replace.

Hi, question, how did you remove the inner nut that holds the basket to the shaft?

You have to use an impact driver with a 24mm (I think) socket.
