I can’t describe in understandable words how chapter 20 has spoken to me. “I have not seen God, but I’ve experienced His blessings. I have not seen Jesus, but I have received what He did on the cross. I’ve not seen the Holy Spirit, but I have felt and been in His presence. Live in the outcome of chapter 20. Jesus manifested in flesh again to deliver the Holy Spirit! What an introduction for you and for me! My heart cannot contain it. We have to share with others.”
My God shot came when Jesus walked/floated through the wall. Made me think that no matter how much I barricade myself from the outside world, Jesus can always get to me. Thank God for that.
I love the honesty in Peter's exchange with Jesus. The same disciple who thought his love for Jesus could save him, now realizes it can't. What he will grow to understand, through Christ's love for him in Paul's rebuke is that it is not our sacrificial love that saves us and others, but Christ's for and in and through us. The flesh profits nothing. The Word and Spirit of God: everything. So thankful for the story of Peter that reminds us we only love because God loved us, giving us His Son, to now love through us. Our human love is insufficient, but praise God for agape in us, Christ, the hope of glory inside of us.
Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, I can be slow to recognize when Jesus shows up in my life. These moments can be casual and unexpected when a neighbor or someone I have just met expresses something meaningful, a bit deeper or out of the ordinary. “Show them Who I AM by showing them My love and acceptance of them. It’s as simple as that. And don’t convey fear or let your opinions crowd out a sense of compassion and graciousness.” How can I “feed His sheep” if my first concern is making a good impression, rather than seeing who they are and what matters to them? I think Jesus’ light shines through us in those daily moments when we can convey how He gives “life, and life more abundantly.”
This is a beautiful realization. I needed to see this today. We can experience a better life every day if we soften our hearts and allow ourselves to slow down and read the people and their situations around us. My husband is often telling me to be more situationally aware. I want to be aware of others in their need or pain, and I know if we as Christ's followers slow down and look for opportunities to help and give, God will show us endless opportunities. I see how slow I am to recognize Jesus in my life too. But I feel Him nudging me to reach out and help our neighbor in need. I see how he offers me opportunities to give. If we are serving others, we will experience what God offers, "life, and life more abundantly." Jesus can bring us more joy, and that joy is abundant in serving others. Wow! God is so good.
Jesus reflects the Father’s patience in walking through the evidence in the scriptures of Who He is. He teaches His disciples and me, who are “slow of heart,” by never giving up on us.
Mary couldn’t exactly see clearly that He was right in front of her, talking to her. He finally called her by name and she knew. I love that. I love that He met Thomas in his doubts and gently showed him who He was with the evidence of the wounds. Jesus clears the air with young Peter, too, to restore what they had before the denial. Hallelujah! Jesus continues to pursue His flock even when they’re doubtful, fearful, shameful, and insecure. I’m so grateful for His continued love and grace for me. One last thing- look at Peter compare his assignment to John’s. How often to we get stuck in our comparisons in todays world? Stay in your lane, Mandie! A good reminder that He has me just where He wants me to be. Have a blessed day! Today is the day that the Lord has made and I’m another year older today! I’m so glad I get to spend my aging years in His word and scriptures, in prayer and study!! Thanks for being my BR family!❤❤
Happy Birthday! Praise God, that on your special day, you are glorifying Him! He brings us joy, and we are so blessed. Have a blessed day and my you continue to share Gods Joy with all of those around you!❤
I found it interesting that in John 21:11, that the number of fish that the disciples catch is identified as 153. I have heard that this number represents every nation in the world to indicate that the gospels need to be preached throughout the world. Love the excitement in learning details like this through TBR.
How blessed are they who sat with Jesus and heard Him explain how and where He appeared in the Torah and the writings of the prophets! How blessed are we that those truths are still being revealed through the gift of His Holy Spirit in us! I wonder if their minds exploded loke mine did when they understood why Jesus, the Atonement Sacrifice stayed dead and was then ressurected three days later. How perfect is our Saviour. He followed the Law to a t and didn't forget to dot His it's either. He's absolutely Wonderful. Oh, to be more like Him!
Yes! I want to be more like Him! "For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh; for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do." Galatians 5:17 I pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit to lead my body and not allow the desires of my body to drive my actions.
After giving Peter the chance to reaffirm his love for Jesus three times, in John 21:19 He calls Peter again to follow Him. “Jesus said this to let him know by what kind of death he would glorify God. Then Jesus told him, “Follow me.”” Peter denied Jesus before men publicly three times. In Matthew 10:33 Jesus says, “But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven.” Jesus can forgive even this if we reaffirm our commitment to Him and again follow Him.
My God shot today was hearing all the reactions that everyone had when they found out Jesushad been resurrected. Hearing about how joyous these people were, and how relieved they all were to hear the good news of Jesus stuck out to me, not just because of the profound affect, but also because it is something that I’ve experienced in my own life. Whenever Jesus relieves me of a struggle or guided me down the right path I always have this rush of love, gratitude, and relief similar to what everyone in the reading feels. I pray today that you guys can experience some thing. God bless all of you today.✝️
That is such a beautiful reminder. It makes me remember the times Jesus works in my life. I know I am being watched and cared for by our God. He is watching over and caring for all of us. God is blessing us, and I pray we all can feel Him in our daily lives. He is with us, and we are in His good hands. God is all good, and we are so fortunate to have Him working in our lives every day.... even when we don't see Him or understand what is taking place or why. Ultimately, He is in control, and we are blessed.
I look at the people our resurrected Jesus revealed himself to. They were not the rich and powerful. However, they projected this faith forward 2000 plus years by the power of the Holy Spirit. Lord, be glorified by the transformation of Your Church today.
Beautiful Teaching TLC beautiful How The Holy Spirit makes the Word plain ❤️💯🙌🏾🥰🤗 Good morning bible Family Have a blessed day in His Presence ❤️ He is where the Joy is ❤️
When I first came across the passage saying they caught 153 fish, I too thought it was oddly specific. I looked up the meaning of 153 in Hebrew and it means “I AM G-D” I just love the Hebrew language, and how our Father places these nuggets in Scripture! 💗✝️
Thank you for sharing your research on 153 This is my 2nd time through the reading with TLC but 153 I caught it. I knew it was important. Thank you for letting me know!
Praise the Lord! He is good! As I write this, myself and my family are grieving a great loss because my father has passed away. He went into the arms of Jesus yesterday. I am heartbroken yet at the same time grateful because I know where he has gone, and that I will see him again. Oh how he loved the Lord. In the last few months, he was longing more and more to "go home". John 20:31 in the ESV says, "but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name." My dad believed with his whole heart in the word of God. He truly was a man who hungered and thirsted for His word. Jesus was his most favorite thing to talk about. What a glorious thing that we serve a Risen Savior, and one day, there will be no more of this heartbreak.
I’m sorry for your loss, but it makes me so happy to hear how much your dad loved the lord and to think he is with him. My father is dying and he doesn’t know God. I’m not sure what happens to him.
Antoinette, I’ve been praying for your family, and sorry to hear of this great loss of a loving and godly father. It is so comforting to know beyond any doubt that the Lord of Light and Life enveloped him in His arms and said, “Welcome home, son,” and that someday, your father will say to you, “Welcome home, daughter.”
Thank you for another day of learning and sharing the love and joy of Jesus ❤ I love how he likes to surprise and share his thoughts so we can play it forward He is definitely “ where the Joy is” This is going to be the best Christmas ever for me because I can say I did it I went through the Bible and enjoyed every minute every story and now I can move forward and next year get further into the Bible and I am going to go a step further and so Bible recap I just want to keep learning and know as much as I can so I can share and do his will and hope whom ever I come in contact with I move there heart ❤️ through Jesus teaching and keep moving through life telling his story.. he’s where the Joy is ❤
Aloha, praise the Lord and good morning BR family. Jesus performed another miracle with Simon Peter and the other disciples. After fishing all night, they had not caught any fish when they heard a voice in the morning from Jesus “Children, have ye meat yet?” They said no; He said, “Cast the net on the right side of ship, and ye shall find, which they did and was able to draw it a multitude of fishes. All the praise and honor to God because is where the JOY is!!!❤
John 20:31, "But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name."
When I read 153 fish I thought it had to be symbolic. These are great possibilities to consider. And... 3 denials, 3 times asking Peter if he loves him🤯Nothing in the word is a basic as we may think.
I am blessed as well that I have stood on the shoreline in Gaililee and pictured this scenario as well. We went with our church and received communion there. Very moving! Loved hearing her speak of it. Love when she speaks of places I have been. A trip to Israel is like no other. Brings the bible to life. I pray others will have an opportunity to do the same.
Jesus has Risen, he showed them his scars, Jesus then told them to put out his nets and they realize yes he is who he says he is. He then asked Peter 3 times if he loves him, because he denied him 3 times. He is where the Joy is.
This is a great recap. And I love the joke about the Easter egg and also about I'm still hungry when he appears in the midst of the disciples @Tara Lee... awesome!
Again, Amen to that! He is DEFINITELY where the joy is. I have watched these episodes of The Bible Recap, but in the New Testament, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, as part of my Lent period for this year, February 14th- March 28th. You're right where you are supposed to be❤. Like Tara Leigh says, you're reading more than you would have on your own, so that's a good thing. And Jesus doesnt love you any more when you're reading His Word, nor any less when you're not. He just loves you.
Keep reading, even if you don’t have time or want to. Many days I wake up depressed and there’s something in what I’ve heard or read that fills my aching heart with joy. Even a little joy is better than none at all. Hang in there!🙏🏻
If you use a concordance you will see that one Jesus asks Peter if he loves him the three times, the first is like friendship love and the third is agape as an unconditional love. He did not ask him if he liked him.
I have had a question for a while and today's episode reminded me of it. She mentions that the disciples were still young. But Peter had a mother-in-law. I know girls were married very young, but I thought the boys waited???
I am very confused by John 20:2 stating that Mary Magdalene came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved (who we all have been told is John the Baptist) who in Matthew 14:6-13 we are told was killed by Herod and Jesus, upon hearing the news withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. I love how He repeats the miracle of the fish.
God is sooo good!

Hey Bible Readers!
"Easter eggs." Love it! ❤️ 😄
Jesus has Risen, he showed them his scars, Jesus then told them to put out his nets and they realize yes he is who he says he is. He then asked Peter 3 times if he loves him, because he denied him 3 times. He is where the Joy is.
I love the thought of 153 fish! One of every type, like His children, he comes for us one of every kind.
That's beautiful!

Fabulous recap TLC thank you for what you do
In John 20, Jesus says "Peace be with you" 3 times. In verse 22, He gives them the Holy Spirit.
I am having a hard time picturing the apostles as teenagers. After all , Peter was married. He had a mother in law. Jewish men usually did not marry until they we about 30.
I had the same concern.
I think Peter was the only one that was "of age."
Remember that when it was time to pay the temple tax Jesus only supplied enough for himself and Peter.
❤❤❤
I wonder where Jesus was at those times that He wasn't with the disciples. I wonder if that was when He appeared to each of those 500 other witnesses that was recorded. How fascinating.
I love doing the Bible Recap. But I'm sad. I am 100 days behind in this endeavor. I used to be able to keep up daily with you. However I went thru some really tough situations at work and couldn't cope, and my bible study just stopped. Now I feel defeated that I'm so far behind. 😢
I’ve also been really struggling to keep up because of work. Just for today, He loves and cares for us
You're right where you are supposed to be❤. Like Tara Leigh says, you're reading more than you would have on your own, so that's a good thing. And Jesus doesnt love you any more when you're reading His Word, nor any less when you're not. He just loves you.

💚
What makes you think that the disciples were teenagers? I never heard that before.
They were 16 or 17?
I found that kinda weird also. I always thought they were older. Maybe that's because I'm thinking of today's times & not back then times🤔🤷
Today's video is exactly the same as yesterday's (word for word). What about the apparent differences between John's gospel and the others?
I am very confused by John 20:2 stating that Mary Magdalene came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved (who we all have been told is John the Baptist) who in Matthew 14:6-13 we are told was killed by Herod and Jesus, upon hearing the news withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. So in Matthew 14:13 it states that Jesus was still alive when "the one Jesus loved" was beheaded. So who is this other person "the one Jesus loved" in John 20:2?
The one Jesus loved isn’t John the Baptist, it’s John the disciple, brother of James, son of Zebedee. One of the 3 of Jesus’ inner circle. He’s the one who wrote this book.. the book of John. He also wrote 1,2 & 3 John, plus Revelation.
Love these but again, you used the term "sc***ed up". Some people may not have a problem with that term but some of us do consider it a vulgar term.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
