The passages today were exactly what I needed. My husband is having a medical test today. I’m thankful for the promises I see in God’s word. If you see this please pray the doctors have wisdom and find out what is causing his problems. Thank you and most of all thank you Jesus!
After reading the Bible (almost) daily this past year, I can see how God is changing me. He is giving me understanding and discernment to overcome temptation. I am far from perfect but am thankful for how far He has brought me! Praise the Lord! Thank you TBR!
2 Cor 2:15 brings up a new metaphor for me: my life and attitude should be a sweet aroma of God’s love, patience, and humility, for everyone around me.
Even though I don't typically comment, I look forward to and read everyone's thoughts each day...praising God, asking for prayers...following your journeys. I hope and pray y'all will be here again in the new year, and if not, we'll miss you! Thank you to Tara-Leigh for opening my eyes to God's Word and teaching me so many things this year! So excited to start again on January 1st! Have a wonderful week, everyone! ❤✝️
2 Cor 4:18, "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." This resonates with me because it is something I have been reminded to do often lately- to keep my eyes on Jesus and not on my circumstances. He is eternal and my circumstances are temporary. ❤️
God’s Light shines through our pain and suffering. We are “fragile clay pots that contain this great treasure,” which is God’s Light (2 Cor 4:7). That Light is the same Light that started all of creation when God said “Let there be Light” (2 Cor 4:6). And that Light that created the world is this “Light that shines in our hearts” (2 Cor 4:6). That’s a new concept for me: Jesus, whom John says is the Light of the world, is that creative power that makes things new (in Revelation, Jesus says “I AM making all things new”). He puts His Light in us that others see, as though we are cracked clay jars and His Light is seen through those cracks-those marks of suffering. Those “troubles” we experience-both bodily and tragically (2 Cor 4:16) are how we comfort each other (2 Cor 1:4), “for the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with His comfort through Christ” (2 Cor 1:5). Suffering and grief are the cracks in our lives through which the Light of Christ shines through.
My brothers and sisters we are God’s word to the lost. Let us reflect His character: love, mercy, grace, strength, perseverance, etc. We are letters to others, the lost. Letters not written on stone or paper or a computer monitor, but rather on human hearts. Let us be alive with the Word of God overflowing from our hearts. That’s my God-shot. “And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.” 2 Corinthians 3:3 ESV
We can NOT out give God!! He gives us all things pertaining to the Spirit, even the desire to follow Him. And what do we bring? Our sin. He knows we are broken people wrecked by sin. BUT GOD! Sending His own Son to take our sin and clothe us in His righteousness. As we abide and look to Him He is gradually transforming our hearts, sanctifying us. He will finish the good work that He started in us until the day of His return! Thank You Lord for all things!! Thank You for keeping and drawing us to Yourself. Give us the desire to press into You more and more and to choose You every time in any given situation. Give us spiritual discernment. We need Your leadership and guidance. Without it we stumble around in the dark. But even then, NOTHING can separate us from the love of God. Those You love, You chastise and discipline. Thank You for every spanking Lord🙌🏽 Thank You for brand new mercies every morning!! GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS!!🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
“The relationship is a done deal. Mawage!” I loved the reference to The Princess Bride. You are hilarious, Tara Leigh. Thanks for the smiles and humor to keep us engaged. 😂❤
“That is why I wrote to you as I did, so that when I do come, I won’t be grieved by the very ones who ought to give me the greatest joy. Surely you all know that my joy comes from your being joyful. I wrote that letter in great anguish, with a troubled heart and many tears. I didn’t want to grieve you, but I wanted to let you know how much love I have for you.” 2 Corinthians 2:3-4 NLT This verse is my God shot because it shows how much love Paul truly has in his heart, but it also shows the extreme amount of love Jesus has. As we grow stronger in our faith and connection with God, our lives begin to reflect Jesus; so this verse to me shows the extreme amount of love Jesus has for his children, reflecting through Paul. I pray that we can all embody some of this love today andshare it to others. God bless all y’all today.✝️💪
Regarding our earthly vessels, “ every chip, every crack is an opportunity for the light to burst forth”, oh God make that true in me!!! Thank you Tara Leigh, you’re such a blessing!
Wow! Tara-Leigh, you were already one of my favorite Bible teachers, and I was leaning toward doing another year with TBR in 2025....then you casually dropped in just the BEST Princess Bride reference and became one of my favorite people ever(sorry kids, you just moved down to number 2) 🤣🤣 In all seriousness though, you always make me laugh and more importantly, you always teach me something new about God and His Word.❤ Your ministry is doing SO much to further the Kingdom!
"Anyone you forgive, I also forgive. And what I have forgiven-if there was anything to forgive-I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes." 2 Corinthians 2:10-11 NIV Satan is scheming always to trap us. Our anger at our spouse, family or friend is a snare he is using. Division in our community is great for satan. This passage stood out to me because of my critical thoughts about my husband or people who believe differently than I do. I struggle to love like Jesus does, and to trust God to soften my heart as well as the hearts of others. I want a heart for God and the Word, and sometimesIm doinggreat and othertimes Im fightingmy negativity. I constantly get tripped up by the devils tricks. I pray I remember to stay loyal to God, remember to pray continually, love, forgive and give grace, like Jesus.
Me, too. Me, too. I can relate so much to what you said. That schemy devil. I’ve found myself saying out loud- “Flee, satan! You’re not welcome here! Jesus is with me!” Then I echo the name of Jesus a few times. Satan will use that anger and division quickly and just a little bit of leaven… goes a long way. I’m praying along side you. You’re 8 minutes wiser and more sanctified now than you were! Each moment in the word with Him is a moment of growth and your light gets brighter! I love how she said each crack and chip in our vessel is just another way for His light to spread! Bless you today!
So many things that stand out to me. God is our seal! He anointed us, sealed us, and has given us His spirit in our hearts! All His promises are “yes” and “amen”! I love how TLC reminds us that amen = “So be it, Lord.” It’s His will and His promises- not mine. The veil. That ugly veil that covers the eyes and hearts of those who don’t know Him. Only God can remove it. That veil is taken away in Jesus, yet some, too many, are still blinded. When one turns to the Lord, it is taken away. Father, let those who are blinded come to you and remove that veil! The light of the gospel should be shining in our hearts as God commanded. We are His vessels and although we may face (we will face) hard times, they are temporary and each crack or chip in our earthly vessel should make His light shine from our hearts even brighter. What a great mental picture for us to think about! Sometimes I do lose heart, but I’m thankful for Paul’s reminder and I’m thankful that the Lord always pursues me and comes around with a life preserver. All of the struggles and worries this side of heaven are temporary. When I can remember to tell the enemy to flee and lean into His promises, I can remember that my heart needs to focus on the things that matter- the eternal things- and not get so caught up in the here and now. What is the truth versus what am I feeling right now? Hallelujah- praise the one who set me free. Death has lost its grip on me! All your promises are yes and amen! So be it, Lord, according to your will!!!
2 Corinthians 1:3-6 ESV [3] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, [4] who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. [5] For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. [6] If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. I love these verses. With my family currently grieving the loss of my dad, the church has definitely been a comfort. Yes and Amen! We carry the light inside of us. And, every crack allows for that light of Jesus to shine through. The Lord is faithful. He uses broken vessels for His glory!
Good beautiful Monday Morning Bible family ❤❤❤ and thanks TLC for another beautiful recap 🤗💯 enjoying the journey Have a blessed day in His Presence He is where the Joy is ❤️
God comforts us so that we can comfort others (2 Cor 1:4). I am currently living this out with the loss of a nephew on Saturday. I feel God's comfort so strongly and God is helping me comfort other family members who are grieving. He is using me to spread His fragrance and the aroma of Christ (2 Cor 2:14-15). He is increasing my boldness because of the hope I have in Him ( 2 Cor 3:12). May I continue to fix my eyes on Him and not on what is seen (2 Cor 4:15). I pray this for my family too. 🙏🏽
Aloha, praise the Lord and good morning BR family. Paul never gave up on his people. He reminds us that God promises are forever even doing these challenging times of uncertainness. God comforts us so that we might comfort others; He give us strength so that we can strength others. Without suffering there is no real faith. Faith, trust, hope, and obedient in our Savior. He is where the JOY is!!!!
Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Liberty like a song that I love. The Spirit is our seal. Not our Paul lol he brings the ministry of life not death. Those who carry Christ carry a light in them. Light is always more powerful. This is so exciting. God is definitely where the joy is. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Amen; so be it, Lord. I love the fragrance of Christ .Amen❤only God can help us remove a veil. Thank You for Your Light: thé knowledge of the glory of God is always growing. 🙏 ❤Amen
It is good that Paul encourages us to mourn with those who mourn and be comforters to those who are struggling. But your commentary on what he didn't say is something you need to be careful with. We, as a general rule, are never supposed to get theology based on what is not there. That is a logic fallacy. While Paul does not say that we are supposed to lecture people who are mourning and tell them a five-step plan of how to fix their problems or how they could have avoided it, the fact that he doesn't mention it here is in no way and indication that we are never to do so. After all, we are told that leading a brother away from sin is to save a soul from death. There is obvious utility and benefit in telling a loved one who is suffering because of the sinful choices they have made in their lives how to get out of that sinful habit or avoid that temptation to which they keep caving. When Grease hits and weariness takes over a person, that is not the time and place to lecture them for certain. But that does not mean that we, even as believers, are never supposed to wisely counsel others in order to help them avoid pain and sorrow that is a direct consequence of their own actions
