She did an about face in 2014 due to a traumatic medical experience and has been blazing a trail as far as possible from our God ever since. I needed hope today. @@inh0usegraphics- your comment could be mine as well!! She loves Jesus her entire life and served as a
      Missionary in China for 8 yrs. She returned (Ohio) in 2014 and was literally in bed for 3 months sick. The past 5 yrs. she has “deconstructed” to the point that she is bitter toward all things Christian. I pray daily- she has a very independent and strong will. Breaks my heart.

    I am always encouraged by the conversion of Saul/Paul. It is a reminder to me that no one is too far gone in sin to be saved. Thank You, Jesus! Praise His holy name!
    I praise Yahweh for all of His goodness in bringing salvation through His chosen nation of Israel so that all nations can be blessed.
    ‭Acts‬ ‭10:34‭-‬35‬ ‭ESV‬
    "So Peter opened his mouth and said: 'Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.'"

    I listen to the Bible recap every day through Google podcasts, which doesn't let me rate the podcast (silly Google) (I did report this feedback to Google), but I wanted to jump on UA-cam (which I have, but don't use often) so that people can see in the algorithm how amazing it is. Look, I don't care what denomination you are or if you are a Christian or not. I mean, I do care, but what I'm getting at is that the Bible recap is a great resource to help you learn the Bible and listen to it/read it daily. How else are you going to learn about it? Random tiktok stuff? Whatever! You need to actually get into the Word! I don't agree with everything Tara Leigh says, and I don't agree 100% with anyone, but the Word is the Word. It does not go void. Use The Bible Recap as a resource to learn more about God and listen to Him. You won't be disappointed.

    In the story of Saul’s conversation, when he returned to Jerusalem the disciples there didn’t believe in his conversion. It was great that Barnabas was there to bring Saul into the Community. How often are we like the disciples who push new converts away, hold them at arms length? We need to be like Barnabas, who will encourage and bring them into community. Challenges are ahead of us and we can face them better when we know there are prayer warriors on our side, when we know that fellow believers are there to listen and encourage 🙏🏽🕊️😇

    If the commandments are still in force…why are the majority of Christians not still worshipping on the seventh day? The fourth commandment even says…Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy, it’s like God knew we would forget the true day He commanded to keep holy.

      That’s a good question. It’s deception in the church. I do personally still follow the Sabbath on Saturday, as commanded. That was changed many years later. Nothing in the Bible tells us that had changed.

      Sometimes it becomes easy to do what everyone else is doing. In this journey through the Bible, we see several times where the Israelite just followed the crowd. Few take the time to actually study 📖 and seek for what GOD truly says in His Word. They pick and choose passages to fit their beliefs. When one don’t understand the WHOLE Bible, one doesn’t see the full character of GOD. The prayers we pray before we reach each reading - I find powerful. I want to do thing GOD’S way. I want to thank Him for His Love and Salvation by fully following Him.
      I pray 🙏🏽 that as we all journey together, we all can learn together and listen to the Holy Spirit as she guides us through the Words of the Bible.

      I personally believe, that in Jesus, who fulfilled the Law and the Prophets, we are called to be holy as He is holy and as such, everyday we should seek to be set apart to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. I personally believe that we honor the resurrection of our Lord and Savior when we gather in community to worship Him on Sunday, representing Him and His resurrection for our eternal life through Him.

    • @maigallop
      @maigallop 10 місяців тому +3

      @@jackietheg8025 but can you find that change documented in scripture? The Sabbath was given by God at creation by sanctifying the 7th day and made it holy and God rested, presented again in the 10 commandments written in stone by Gods finger with the word “REMEMBER”, Jesus kept the Sabbath, the disciples kept the Sabbath after Jesus rose…what changed? who changed it?? Why would God add the word REMEMBER to the 4th commandment. Just something to think about…

    • @jackietheg8025
      @jackietheg8025 10 місяців тому +4

      @@maigallop After His Resurrection, Sunday was held sacred as the Lord's day in remembrance of His Resurrection on that day (see Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:2). From that time on, His followers observed the first day of the week as their Sabbath. The Roman emperor Constantine I, a convert to Christianity, introduced the first civil legislation concerning Sunday in 321. To be in keeping with Christians he had observed, he decreed that all work should cease on that day, in order to observe the Sabbath because at that time, it was considered a workday.

    I have to respectfully disagree with the meaning of Peters vision. In verse 10:28, Peter explains exactly what the vision meant, and it was not about food at all. In verse 10:34, he also relays that God is no respecter of persons, which the vision taught him.
    Just wanted to share my understanding of the passage.

    • @Jennifer13515
      @Jennifer13515 10 місяців тому +5

      Yes @faithjolene244 you are correct that 10:28 and 10:34 explains. “ Peter began to speak: "Now I truly understand that God doesn't show favoritism, 35 but in every nation the person who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. He sent the message to the Israelites, proclaiming the good news of peace through Jesus Christ
      -he is Lord of all.”
      Then the Holy Spirit was poured out on the believing Gentiles and they did not have to convert to Judaism - this is the main point of not only Acts 9 and 10 but also extremely key in understanding the rest of the New Testament (especially Romans) and Christianity as a whole 😊

    • @umbrown
      @umbrown 10 місяців тому +2

      @faithjolene244 Glad you brought this up. I tried to step back and see if this vision was about diet. I had a hard time seeing that. We have Cornelius having this vision. He is told to see Peter. Peter is such a staunch Jew that has strong prejudices against the Gentiles. GOD/Christ had to use strong illustration that Peter would understand. As Peter was hungry - it would make sense that a vision about food would be the one that would drive the point HOME. He had the vision 3 times because 3 men were at the door for him with a request that went against the grain of his own being. To break down this barrier, he needed a knock on the head. So Peter’s response in vs. 28 & 34-35, Peter is given clarity in what GOD was trying to say to him.
      Non-religious scientists are now seeing the benefits the GOD has pointed out in diet. There seemed to be a reason why certain foods were considered “unclean”. What we eat is not a salvation issue, but it was something GOD shared because he wants His people to be healthy. I don’t think that plan has changed.

      @faithjolene244 I completely agree with you. This verse is commonly taken out of context and misunderstood. It's important to read the entire text to get a better view of the picture and the point. We must be attentive, as we dig into the word of God so as not to be led astray.

    Throughout the gospels we come to know Peter’s stubborn zeal. He gives up everything to follow Jesus. Like all Jews he is looking for a messiah to save Israel and so doesn’t get Jesus or His message to the point that he denies Jesus three times. John 21 tells us that Jesus reminds Peter of this after His resurrection asking Peter if he Loves Him three times and at Peter’s affirmation remind him to feed Jesus’ sheep. So I kind of imagine things happening in threes for Peter is God’s way of showing Peter His will, the food three times in the vision, three messengers from Cornelius who had a vision three days before at three in the afternoon. So I imagine Peter looking up to heaven saying OK Lord I get it. Then Peter proclaims the good news and of course mentions Jesus death and resurrection after three days.

  • @DonZimmerman52
    @DonZimmerman52 10 місяців тому +8

    A basis of these stories is the fear of the Lord and obeying His word. When Jesus confronts Saul, he is thunderstruck, and must learn all he must suffer for Christ. Then he obeys and preaches the irrefutable proof of Jesus’ Messiahship. Then Peter is corrected and his eyes are open to the gospel that makes all people clean. Cornelius is a God fearing Roman soldier and obeys the vision by summoning Peter. When we fear God and obey Him, He transforms us and sets us free to be able to draw near to Him as never before!

    To those asking about "when" to honor the Sabbath and to those disagreeing about what food we as Christians should or should not consume, let's remember that to try and debate right or wrong in these laws is legalism - it's what the pharisees did.
    None of us are capable of keeping the law. It's out of love for God that we "try" to obey it but we will always fall short in one way or another so we shouldn't get caught up in when to honor the sabbath or whether or not it's "wrong" to eat bacon and whatnot.
    Love God, love people.
    What day you choose to rest and whether you consume what is considered unclean under Judaic law has no bearing on that.
    In Galatians 2:15-16, Paul writes: "We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is justified not by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ."
    Don't get caught up in "Should I?" "Can I?" All God requires of us is faith. Works do not justify.
    THAT BEING SAID, Romans 14:14 does say this: "I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean."
    So, when it does come to what you yourself want to practice to honor God, that is between you and the Lord. But understand that it does NOT bring salvation.
    Hope this helps someone who may be struggling. I know I've been there before.

    My God shot was in Acts 9:2-3.
    Saul was going after those who belonged to "the Way."
    Vs 3 tells us he was going "his way."
    There is only one way... John
    14:6-"I am the Way, and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by Me."
    It's a beautiful picture of us as believers leaving our way to follow "The Way" to eternal life.

    Bible question over here?👋 in Acts 10 when Peter had a vision and spirit said to seek the 3 men. Then later in the chapter. There was action of this vision taken. My question is, was this a little more than just the Holy Spirit? Would one say this, too, was operating in the prophetic, which is a gift?

    Wow - started late so on catch up but so this was so timely as spent 1 and a half pleading/ trying to reason and got to share the full gospel with my brother 2 days ago, who afterwards said to my wife ‘I’m not sure why he (as in me) bothers’ and my wife by Gods grace was able to reinforce because he loves you and wants you to go to heaven. But I’m not looking for a decision from him as much as I’d have loved that 😢 as it’s God who does the work of salvation only. Someone reminded me of Corinthians ‘For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God’ prayer for the lost, for prodigals (2 daughters who are not born again also) and everyone who listens to Tara’s summary that God will break any strongholds, false pretences, arguments against the Truth in the minds of non believers. Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭9:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬
    [1] Meanwhile, Saul was uttering threats with every breath and was eager to kill the Lord’s followers. So he went to the high priest.
    [3] As he was approaching Damascus on this mission, a light from heaven suddenly shone down around him. [4] He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?” [5] “Who are you, lord?” Saul asked. And the voice replied, “I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting! [6] Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
    [10] Now there was a believer in Damascus named Ananias. The Lord spoke to him in a vision, calling, “Ananias!” “Yes, Lord!” he replied. [11] The Lord said, “Go over to Straight Street, to the house of Judas. When you get there, ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul. He is praying to me right now. [12] I have shown him a vision of a man named Ananias coming in and laying hands on him so he can see again.”
    [15] But the Lord said, “Go, for Saul is my chosen instrument to take my message to the Gentiles and to kings, as well as to the people of Israel. [16] And I will show him how much he must suffer for my name’s sake.” [17] So Ananias went and found Saul. He laid his hands on him and said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road, has sent me so that you might regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

    I object to the characterization of Paul as "half-Jew, half-Roman." Paul will later say that he was born a Roman citizen. That doesn't mean he was half-Roman since we know Roman citizenship could be purchased. I've always learned that he probably inherited his citizenship from an ancestor who likely paid for it, like the Roman commander to whom Paul reveals this information in Acts 22:26. He tells us in various places that he was a "Pharisee of the Pharisees," a "Hebrew of the Hebrews," and "a Pharisee of the strictest sect." I find it unlikely that he would be able to say these things if his mother was Roman (as she would have to be since we know his father was of the tribe of Benjamin Philippians 3:5).
