Rick, thanks for the video. I have a '97 cruiser as well. I found the process to be slightly different than described, so thought I'd relay here. I held the green programming button on the RS3000 module for only 2-3 seconds, long enough to see the red light on the center dash appear. Here's the important part...hit the top button on the fob while the red light is still on, but before it begins to flash. I think I was holding the green button for too long, then waiting a few seconds before pressing the button on the fob. I watched a different video that was much quicker...2-3 second hold, then an immediate press, and sure enough that worked for me. Anyways, hope this helps. I have been working on this for my son's 98 4Runner Limited with factory installed RS3000 for a few weeks now. I learned that the gray fob is for 98-02 and the black fob is for 96-97. I bought an ebay aftermarket fob for $20. I did all the same steps and kept getting the lights flashing when I programmed the fob but the doors would not lock or cycle and the chirper did not work so I assumed the system did not accept the fob. I noticed that at 1:30 in your video you had the same issue and you simply shut the door (w/ keys removed from ignition) and then tried it and it worked. I had not tried shutting the door because all other videos and instructions did not require that in order for it to work. It worked when I shut the door. I am glad I watched your video, thank you!

I took one of these from a 99 camry and got it into programming mode on my work bench. I figured out what most of the wires do on the module.
could we somehow connect? I recently just got a 1999 Toyota Camry and it didn't come with the security system! I just need a little help installing it once I purchase the system! thank you!

One question. Is it the same for your remote where only the top button works to lock/unlock the vehicle?
Yes. The second button gives false hope but there is really no reason for it.
@@Rickmakes I have a factory Lx450 remote for my 97 80 series, and it has 2 buttons. Only the top one works for BOTH lock and unlock, which is a pain because I have to keep checking to see if I locked or unlocked it. (I also have NO chirp sound) Are you saying that if I use this video to reset and reprogram this fob, that I can get the top for LOCK and the bottom for UNLOCK? Or are you saying that this is how the remote functioned from factory?

@@trevorneufeld5038 The bottom button can be programmed to control another car with RS3000 or a trunk release if your vehicle is equipped with one (very rare option- most aren't). The top button does all the functions: one press locks/unlocks depending on whether your car is unlocked or locked, a press and hold activates the panic alarm.
Do you know if there’s a way to program both buttons? I was only way to program the top button for both lock and unlock which causes some issues

So when I press the red button, I hold for three seconds then I press the top button and nothing happens. Then if I do the same thing, and if I hold the button, my alarm will go off, but if I close the door and I try to unlock it or lock it it won’t do anything. Am I doing something wrong?

Rs3200 is what I had on my 1999 Camry XLE V6
Does it work the same as this one? If not, you might be able to find an instruction manual online. Most of the ones I find were scanned in by someone.
Where is this module under seat to the driver?
It is right under the driver's seat. It is the only black box under there. It is pretty easy to see if you have a flashlight.
@@Rickmakes Thank you for replay. To be honest I've try to see but nothing clear, I will dismantle tomorrow to be sure.

@@jufalucian2762 Are you sure it has the security system? Do you have the Toyota Security light above the climate controls?
@@Rickmakes Yes, it's right next to the heat button,is red and have on/off but that doesn't flicker.

What year is your cruiser? Are you using a new key fob or the original one?
@@Rickmakes my land cruiser is also a 97 and yes I was using a new key fob remote, ive tried a few remotes and the factory remote, nothing works
@@mattlucero2650 My 1997 as well. Has the same Security system. All the electric door locks work fine. Just no wireless key fob thus far worked. Will try the dealership soon. Lived without for past few years but now it'd be nice to have it working fully.
@@mattlucero2650 When you go through the programming, do the lights go off and on when you press the remote button during programming? If so, pull the key, shut the door and try it. I had the same issue on a 98 4Runner and shutting the door was the trick. Other cars do not require that but mine did and apparently Rick's 97 LC did too.
Also, make sure your finger is not covering the front of the fob. I noticed it doesn't work when you obstruct the front of the fob with your finger.
