Before its release, fans like myself were outraged that Holywood cast Tom as Lestat. Even the great Anne Rice rolled her eyes at the idea. Tom nailed it. He embodied the great vampire with such grace and skill that he silenced all naysayers. And this was the movie that made Brad Pit a superstar and heartthrob, even though he hated doing the film. Brad tried everything he could to get out of the contract. I wonder how he feels today. You guys rock! Thanks for taking us there.
I wish Pitt would have gotten out of the contract. He's the only negative of the film (and a big one at that). Cruise was genuinely riveting as Lestat. When contrasted with Pitt, Cruise's performance only becomes more brilliant and accentuated. I wish someone was cast who could've matched Cruise----thus accentuating his performance for all of the right reasons.
@@ontologicallysteve7765 I feel exactly the opposite. All I see is Tom Cruise in a terrible blond wig! Johnny Depp would have been a better Lestat in my opinion.
Everyone hates the idea of certain actors playing certain roles, but more times than not, the actors deliver. People hated the thought of Heath Ledger as the Joker, and he nailed it. Jerry Weintraub didn't like Pat Morita being cast as Mr. Miyagi and he nailed it. These are just a few examples.
@@ontologicallysteve7765 ya, actually I read that Anne Rice wrote that character purposely for Johnny Depp. It was interesting to find that out. I can totally see Johnny playing that character. Too bad River died, he was supposed to play the interviewer but Christian Slater took it over. That would have been some great eye candy for sure! Johnny, River and Brad! : )
Just found this !! I'm a HUGE Anne Rice Fan 🖤🦇🖤 I met her once at Sacramento Ca Tower Records Books for a signing, 1994. She asked if I had read The Mayfair Witches, since my name is Angelique and i told her yes I loved it !!! Then she asked if I used the the accent on the é = Angélique and i said no. And she said I should 🖤🖤🖤 She said 8 was the first Angélique she had met in a long time. And we chatted for a little while. I told her I had lent her books out to my friends that's why I only had the Ramses the Damned with me. She was so wonderful to chat with , such a dream come true to meet her 🖤🦇🖤🦇🖤🦇Thank you for this AMAZING video !! Love seeing the Interview w the Vampire movie locations , LaFayette Cemetery #1, the street of New Orleans and the Garden District Bookstore 🖤🦇🖤🦇🖤🦇Happy Halloween🖤🎃🖤🎃🖤🎃🖤🖤🦇🖤🦇🖤🦇🖤
I grew up right down the road from Destrehan Plantation where they filmed several scenes. There is a church near by that has a massive parking lot. The film crew rented the parking lot for all the cast trailers etc. Tom Cruise was routinely seen driving a BMW from the parking lot to the plantation. He was friendly and waved at fans. The plantation is right on the Mississippi river and my friends a I would sit on the levee and watch the filming. It was great.
I happen to watch this now after the news of Anne Rice (RIP). You better go back and buy that book now! Great video as always, and Jessica your hair looks stunning dark with frosted ends!
Huge Anne Rice fan,RIP! Waited on line for hours for her to autograph my book interview with a vampire! It was an honor to meet her! Thank you both for all you do! Love this!
Sadly... The Beautiful and Talented Ann Rice passed from our world to the next on Dec. 11th. 2021. :( I would have LOVED to have met her and talked to her. She wrote some of THE BEST Horror Novels ever!
I guess Anne was still alive when y’all made this… I met my first girlfriend in 1996 at an Anne Rice book signing party in Jackson, MS. She was wearing a Marilyn Manson shirt; it was love at first sight. Used to spend lots of time in NOLA, but never made it to Anne or Trent’s house. Had friends that did, when they lived there; always wanted to see it for myself. Thanks for guiding the virtual experience here. My video introduction to your channel had Jessica with neon yellow and green hair, but she’s a total babe with dark hair. Wow! Charming couple, insightful videos; I’m sure we’ll meet again. ✌🏻
"Louie, Louie, always WHINING!" Can't cross the GG bridge without thinking of that. Awesome job! I don't know if I'll ever get all the way across to New Orleans. Love everywhere you went. Thank you! (And yes, those guys had a hard time talking around those teeth they had to wear.) LOL! xoxo
And the lesat looks at slater and says “I’m going to give you the choice, I never had”. He then smiles and chuckles a bit and turns up the radio which is playing Guns N Roses’ cover of Sympathy for the Devil (a song that slash has stated the recording of it broke up the band). BTW: that song is the only non classical song on the soundtrack. I bought the soundtrack and was very disappointed that Claudia’s “play something more somber” song is not on it, though it’s a real classical piano piece and is far longer and more complex then what it played in the film.
I was in the French Quarter for several nights of filming. Straingly enough they covered much of the original porch posts with wide round columns. They covered the streets with dirt and ran gas to all the street lights. They also put a fake porch on the house that burned to protect the actual building. I was also in Jackson Square when they filmed that seen you mentioned. Somewhere I have pictures packed away. I watched Interview again last night. I mentioned they covered a lot of the cast iron posts in the quarter with round columns. They used the same round columns on the front of the old house that Lewis finds Lastat when he returns back to NOLA
I love their energy! These people know how to give a tour because they LOVE what they're doing. They don't even need to try. They just are cool people to tour a city with.

This is great. My daughter lives just outside of the garden district in New Orleans. I’ve been in the Lafayette cemetery and to the book store. I never get tired of visiting that area when I visit my daughter. So much history.
Loved this. Truly fascinating. The research you must do to find out these details must take a lot of time and effort. Not too mention patience. It must be a labour of love because that passion shows in your vids. Thank you for this and taking us along on your adventures. Oh I nearly forgot, the opening and closing credits were simply delightful.
This video brings back great memories of my trip to New Orleans last year. Was such a fan girl finding her home in the Garden District, it’s such a beautiful place. I was on the trail of finding the settings for The Witching Hour. If you get a chance to go back and see Cemetery No 1 definitely do it, it’s fascinating to wander in.
Some years ago... My Ex and her sisters and her son and daughter all went to New Orleans for a wedding, and they stayed at a hotel on Burban Street. The hotel was two or three levels and had a MASSIVE inner courtyard with a fountain in the middle. One of my now ex sisters-in-laws took a picture of the soft lite courtyard, and when the pic got developed... There were SO MANY "Ghost Faces" and "Orbs" in the photo! I remember counting no less then like thirteen or fifteen "Ghost Faces and/or Orbs" that are VERY Noticeable! New Orleans has SO MANY Ghost Stories and other "Haunting" stories to it's history! Just SO FREAKIN' COOL!
She did a great impersonation! 😊 Awesome footage of a great film, however wish they would have continued with a sequel. Awesome footage ! Thanks for your hard work
What a beautiful dress! Y’all have me hooked...my husband and I do some same thing when we travel...go see spots from favorite movies or favorite musicians/famous people. On the list so far: Hunter S. Thompson home and fav restaurant, Muddy Water’s hometown, Kurt Cobain’s home, The Conjuring home and Bathsheeba’s graveyard, the Mystic Pizza Pizzaria, Graceland, Bruce and Brandon Lee’s gravesite, and Bob Marley’s birthplace and mausoleum. So many more places we wanna see...thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks for finding the filming locations to one of my favorite books. Decades ago, Anne Rice went on a book tour across the country. It was wonderful to meet her and have her sign my copy of Interview. I'll have to check to see if it's a first edition.
I am a huge Anne Rice fan, particularly the Vampire Chronicles. Love your geographical on-the-scene narratives that accompany the theme of both the movie & the book. Great stuff!
Wow this was so cool! Not a fan of the movie but it is one of my favorite books ever! Fascinating stuff!! And John Goodman's house, that was a surprise! I didn't know he lived in NO. Thanks for the trip! Much love 😘😘💕✌️
Very interesting video, ty for taking me along, watching the original Dark Shadows today, love Barnabas and Quentin the best, all actors were fantastic 🐾🐈⬛🦇
Very interesting and entertaining. Looks like you two had a blast. I've only visited New Orleans once back in 2010, and this makes me pine for it again. I am glad that I got to visit Oak Alley during that trip. Call it one of my bucket list items. A couple of corrections: I'm not sure where Anne wrote Interview With The Vampire (she might have still been living in San Francisco), but she did not move into Rosegate at 1239 1st Street until the 90s. I do know that she used that house as the inspiration and pretty much the setting for the Mayfair Manor. I think the "poodle killing" scene may have been filmed at another plantation, possibly Destrehan, as it is mentioned among the many filming locations. A couple clues that lend to this are the difference in size of the first floor galleries in the background, which appear much lower than those at Oak Alley. Also, it is clear that the same galleries do not wrap completely around the house like Oak Alley's.
Omgggg yyyaasssss I was just at Oak Alley it’s beautiful with a lot of history. I had to take pictures from the Oak Alley just like Jessica 💖🙌. Thank you so much for your videos we love them all.
I love Anne Rice. I have pretty much every book she has ever written. I think Interview With The Vampire is the best. Even the movie is amazing to me. All of the details are amazing. They might not be do every single thing to the t. Loved it. Thank You 🌹
Interview is without doubt my favourite Vampire film saw it twice when it was released, book , soundtrack, Audiobook, love it . Such a shame Mr Pitt apparently didn't like filming it and tried to get out of it ( Allegedly) ..Like your video too .
This video is awesome! All your videos are awesome but I think this is my favorite one! I love Interview with a Vampire the book and the movie and I love all of Anne Rice book's!
I love that guitar strumming through the video like you did with I think it was lost boy's, face Alot ambience to many of the locations. Great video as usual guy's.
I am going to have to reread all the Ann Rice books now. She was such a great and talented lady. It's been years since I've read the Vampire books ao I need to reread all of her books. I really loved this adventure. Jessica, you looked so beautiful in the black dresses and dark hair. Love you guys.
The handing shandolere is actually a small one than was once there for the movie though. As well as the wall lights were smaller as well which were single light candle lights rather than the 5 light stands they have now. I'm sure they switched them out after the movie so Ann could have more lighting in her home. But still Amazingly beautiful.
I totally loved tonight video yes I love Anne rice and interview with the vampire thanks for showing us all the locations that were in the movie happy Halloween stay spooky 🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃

Great vlog brother great scenery and locations. And Jessica stunning as always.

So happy to rewatch this following the passing of dear Anne. Thank you!
Love your videos! TY so much for them!!!
Visiting NOLA during Halloween is on my bucket list since our anniversary is in October. If I would quit booking Disney trips..I could!
I love, LOVE this video! Happy Halloween!!!!!
Same right like I can't see another person playing the role Louis as good as brad Pitt
@@tibaazher2792 I know right! So broody!

"This place is cursed, damned, and yes your master is the devil!"
Amazing intro, so much in common with you guys! Keep em coming!
Great video, you two. Happy Halloween!!!
The handing shandolere is actually a small one than was once there for the movie though. As well as the wall lights were smaller as well which were single light candle lights rather than the 5 light stands they have now. I'm sure they switched them out after the movie so Ann could have more lighting in her home. But still Amazingly beautiful.
Wow, thank you for taking me with you. I love the movie and it's amazing to see the locations ♥.
