Cheers Nige, it's in my dna to do all my own maintenance and it's a refreshing change to work on one of my own vehicles for a change 😊

Nice job Sean and it makes perfect sense to check over and service the bike prior to taking it back out on the road again after being parked up over the winter

Cheers buddy, yes it's always a good idea to give any vehicle a check over if it's been laid up for any length of time. I have been regularly starting it over the winter and the battery was on a trickle charger to keep that healthy. I think in a week or 2 I'll be back out!

Just taken my out for the first time in a while 19th February was a lovely day and my birthday 😊 .Been load of rain so the roads where clean and clear of salt. The only thing I had to do was top up the tyre pressure. Battery I have is 4 years old but had held its charge.

Fantastic Michelo and happy birthday 🎂 my tyres have only lost 1psi in the 4 months of being parked up so that's not bad. I'll be taxing my bike on the 1st March so hopefully I'll get out soon after!

You need to buy one of these cheap diesel heaters to heat your workshop and run it on the waste oil..

I'd love one Dan but I've literally no room. I have a wee electric heater thar I put on for 10 mins on cold days and that is usually enough to heat the garage up. Hope your well buddy 👍

I just did my oil service and I see a few drops of oil every day or so coming through the oil nut even if is super tight - what could it be? I also checked and I think I put a little over the maximum level for for oil

Hi, the oik leak at the sump nut is most likely because the nut it too tight. You don't want to make it super tight because it could strip the threads or crack the sump itself, plus if it's super tight the washer will not seal which will cause the leak
What I'd recommend you to do is to drain the oil, clean the area around the sump plug snd inspect it and make sure the mating surface is clean and flat. Then refit the sump plug with a new washer and only just nip the bolt up. The correct torque setting is 30nm which isn't very tight. If you over tighten thd bolt then this will crush the washer and that will cause a leak.
When refilling the oil, the capacity from empty is 2.7 litres. If your leaving your filter on the capacity will be around 2.5 litres. When topping up its best to firstly fill it to the max line then run the engine for a minute then turn the engine off and leave it for a few minutes. To do your final check, unscrew the dip stick, clean it then put it back into the engine but don't screw it in. Then check the level again and top up to just under the max line then fully screw the dip stick back in.
      Hope this helps
