Yes he is one of the best midfielder i've ever seen! He can attack, he can defend and obviously he can keep the ball like the ball is glued to his feet!!
Dembele does the job of carrying the ball forward when opposition is able to close off passing lanes. He is invaluable for Spurs but not always needed.
ZeroTheHero It's in the games where teams want to press quickly he's too strong and an excellent dribbler you can see how many players he takes out of the game
He does get the credit, but Tottenham defense has been the best this season and it's all down to the tactics deployed by Pochettino and Dier/Wanyama being excellent Defensive Midfielders.
some club have this kind of player...they are necessary for the team but never star player... example carrick and park ji sung for man utd, makelele at real madrid (real madrid never really rate him until he was sold)..
Josh Ilunga Because both those players you have mentioned have scored/assisted more than Heung-min and you have to also consider they're are both British and the British media always hype up young English players.
This won't get the upvotes it deserves, but could you maybe do a "Palermo collapse explained" - This is a club that had one of the best South American scouting networks in the world and is responsible for giving us so many household names such as Javier Pastore, Edinson Cavani & Paulo Dybala. It also brought through a number of exciting Italian players such as Antonio Nocerino, Federico Balzaretti and was responsible for giving us one of Serie A's greatest strikers in the form of Fabrizio Miccoli. Now the club has been relegated yet again and is in a shambolic state... where did it all go wrong???
poor ownership and change of managers CONSTANTLY causes disruption amongst the players and supporters alike, Pioli was fired after 3 games.... now that Palermo has a new ownership they should be much more secure in the future and won't be in Serie b for long
Tottenham have amazing squad rotation fullbacks; Walker and Rose are both amazing, while Trippier and Davies could probably start for most Premier League clubs
I think you forgot about Dembele running through the middle and passing to Dele/Kane/Eriksen. By doing that Spurs are able to get past the whole midfield of the opponent in a few seconds and it creates a lot of space in between the defense and midfield where Spurs can shoot or pass wide to the running wing backs. Also a big thing in their offense are long diagonal passes from Alderweireld or sometimes from Dier. They are either to Kyle Walker or to Dele behind the defense. Next thing that Tottenham does a lot is attract the defenders on Kyle Walker in the corner, where he passes the ball usually to Eriksen who then can cross.
Mourinho is worse... Not a United fan but I always love their ultra attacking style under Fergie. United had a real identity with fast wingers playing direct football etc etc. Now it's they just park the bus.
I don't lnow why people say mourinho parks the bus, maybe it is because I haven't watched him at other clubs. But I've only seen Mourinho parking the bus once, against City, and that was because a lot of man utd players were injured. He doesn't park the bus. Man Utd's style of play is not like fergie's but it is much better than van Gaal at least.
Lol you must have missed the game at Arsenal last weekend. He played Mhicki and Mata as extra full backs. That's mkhitaryan the multi million summer signing 10 who had the most assists in Europe last season. Mourinho played him at left back! He plays park the bus in every big away game. United have not scored away from home in a top 6 game since last season against Spurs!
I am not sure if this suggestion is even possible but in every tactic video, could you please do a counter that tactic? That'd be amazing. And thumbs up to the awesome content as always :)
LeCuong95 Tottenham plays high line so you can play long balls to attacking players, preferably to the wings since spurs fullbacks are far up the pitch. see the first half of the 2-2 draw with man city. or more easily, you play Tottenham at Wembley
They could look at the games they have lost and see how the opposition set up to beat them, maintaining their usual analytical style that way and not claiming to be football geniuses.
Because the style of play is based more on the ability to physically dominate your opponent rather than trying to outsmart them, generally speaking. In the english league many of the team's play a counter attacking style. So you need speed and strength over skill and... a different sort of knowledge of the game. Plus I think the culture of countries are a big factor. Look at the countries who want their athletes to be more about speed and power over countries who's athletes are largely more skillful, yet physically 'inferior'. Those countries usually excel in contact sports, whereas countries who's athletes are more about skill and technical ability usually excel in sports that are more or less, not contact sports.
the halfback is genuinely one of the greatest positions in football, with a halfback in 433, he can help to create an overload in midfield and help create an overload against 2 strikers
Very thorough and articulate, i'm not a big fan of tottenham but i love Pochettino. Will be interesting to see what type of player spurs this summer because last summer was really bad but furthermore a proof of pochettino's genius: Most points over two whole seasons, playing this type of football with a net spend of 9m. amazing.
Matthew14036 Idk why Poch doesn’t play a 3-5-2, they are way better at that as they break down teams and player a lot quicker football, any other formation they seem to struggle or be uncomfortable with
this was really well done, it really well portrayed why spurs have been so successful by having players who can play eachothers positions allowing fluid dynamic football centered around a creative and incredibly skillful midfielder (eriksen). every player in the squad is paramount to success because of the style of football there is no room for dead weight, and that is a testiment to pochettino's coaching for literally every one of the current teams players to be so good at their roles. Once they have a decent right wing even more options will be available, exciting times.
Dembele deserves huge credit that guy is hugely under rated and it shows when he is not in the side and it's a surprise one of Europe's big sides haven't bought him. his style of play and ball retention would suit Barcelona and him a busquets side by side would make them solid once again.
5 defenders+2 defensive midfielders even a striker playing as a defensive winger (Mandzukic) i think counter attacking football is a simple way to put it defend till the other team gets tired of pressing
I don't understand who gives any of these videos a thumbs down!!! This is easily one the best footballing channels on UA-cam. Regardless of who you support, these videos are amazing 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
great video, but as a spurs fan i think there's a few things you could add. spurs love playing out of the back, even under pressure, and rarely boot the ball up the field pointlessly. this is possible bcuz of alderweireld, vertongen, and lloris' ability on the ball. also alderwiereld's long diagonals, and dembele's dominance and grace in the midfield great vid tho, thumbs up #coys
I know this won't get many upvotes, but maybe you could do a video about the tactics of SC Freiburg. They might qualify for Europa(they are 5. In the league) this year in the Bundesliga, although having the second smallest budget and having about -15 in goal difference
Tottenham's best team ever in the BPL. Got second place, knocked out of both of the European competitions and made the FA cup semi final. Lol so impressive
Their tactics are very solid but the main weakness I've noticed is fast players running in behind their defense. Sadio Mané really exploited that and so did West ham
No mention of Vertongen, and Alderweireld's distribution? Or Dembele's driving runs? Perhaps I've missed something in recent weeks but why has Died been highlighted as a half back player, when he's been used in that role much less this season, or as the central centre back when he usually plays on the right? Great video as usual, just surprised at those.
In these videos, we don't have time to address every contribution to the team. We felt that there were other players without whom the system simply doesn't work, who deserved focus. Our podcast going out next Monday makes reference to Dembele, and why we left him out. - Joe
Tjutd7 your probably still young but 8th was acc successful back they before redknapp came in we were in a relegation scrap for the first half of the season
Dembele never gets the praise, always wanyama and dier. He's probs most under appreciated player in league
He's been my fav Spurs player for afew seasons now
Yes he is one of the best midfielder i've ever seen! He can attack, he can defend and obviously he can keep the ball like the ball is glued to his feet!!
He was considered the best cm in the league last season bar Kante and everyone was aware of how good he was this year, not underrated at all
Dembele does the job of carrying the ball forward when opposition is able to close off passing lanes. He is invaluable for Spurs but not always needed.
ZeroTheHero It's in the games where teams want to press quickly he's too strong and an excellent dribbler you can see how many players he takes out of the game
son heung min deserves more credit tbh
He does get the credit, but Tottenham defense has been the best this season and it's all down to the tactics deployed by Pochettino and Dier/Wanyama being excellent Defensive Midfielders.
People who regularly watch give him credit. But he's not going to be a "star" Because hes not exactly a star. He's an "average" player in comparison.
some club have this kind of player...they are necessary for the team but never star player...
example carrick and park ji sung for man utd, makelele at real madrid (real madrid never really rate him until he was sold)..
Davies Duale there is too much focus on Dele & Kane for him to be acknowledged
Josh Ilunga Because both those players you have mentioned have scored/assisted more than Heung-min and you have to also consider they're are both British and the British media always hype up young English players.
One of the best Tactics Explained you guys have done, and explains why Spurs are so dynamic everytime they go forward - well done !
Thanks for the support Mohamaed - Danny
Travis Williams thanks bro
This won't get the upvotes it deserves, but could you maybe do a "Palermo collapse explained" - This is a club that had one of the best South American scouting networks in the world and is responsible for giving us so many household names such as Javier Pastore, Edinson Cavani & Paulo Dybala.

Andrew Worling dont forget franco vasquez, he was also class for palermo!
Yes of course.... should have included him.
poor ownership and change of managers CONSTANTLY causes disruption amongst the players and supporters alike, Pioli was fired after 3 games.... now that Palermo has a new ownership they should be much more secure in the future and won't be in Serie b for long
Wow, I completely forgot Cavani and Dybala both played for Palermo.
Andrew Worling Don't mind Palermo. . . rise and fall of Blackburn Rovers is well due . . .from champs to 3rd tier football!!!!
As a Arsenal fan, Hands down Poch actually injected fear into my heart
Tottenham have amazing squad rotation fullbacks; Walker and Rose are both amazing, while Trippier and Davies could probably start for most Premier League clubs
Joon Nam And now.. Walker gone, Trippier Gone, Rose finished, Davies not good enough to be a starter, Aurier starting and most importantly Poch gone 😢
Conor bruh another spurs fan looking back at how good we were. How a few years can change a team
Billyspurs 43 it’s sad to see how much we’ve declined. Especially when we have nothing to show for it
It's summer 2021. Mauricio please come back to Tottenham. We miss you
I think you forgot about Dembele running through the middle and passing to Dele/Kane/Eriksen. Do a Manchester united under LVG and how one man managed to use football as a sleeping technique
He should do this after a video on David Moyes' tactics.... oh wait there weren't any.
DragoonGalaxy explain horny football
Mourinho is worse...

I am not sure if this suggestion is even possible but in every tactic video, could you please do a counter that tactic? That'd be amazing. And thumbs up to the awesome content as always :)
LeCuong95 if they knew how to counter every tactic they would probably be in some top team managing
LeCuong95 Tottenham plays high line so you can play long balls to attacking players, preferably to the wings since spurs fullbacks are far up the pitch. see the first half of the 2-2 draw with man city.
or more easily, you play Tottenham at Wembley
MrRay168 spurs fan but thats funny 😂
They could look at the games they have lost and see how the opposition set up to beat them, maintaining their usual analytical style that way and not claiming to be football geniuses.
LeCuong95 < I bet this is Arsene Wenger. First he scouts players on Football Manager and FIFA, now he asks UA-camrs to do his tactical preparation 😂😂
Do a video about England's scouting system and why they're obsessed with size over ability
Imran Ahmed YESSS!!!
Imran Ahmed Who is obsessed with size over ability? Give us some examples.
Because the style of play is based more on the ability to physically dominate your opponent rather than trying to outsmart them, generally speaking. In the english league many of the team's play a counter attacking style. So you need speed and strength over skill and... a different sort of knowledge of the game. Daniel CFC You know nothing about Pogba. You're just ignorant, and mark my words, Pogba is going to shine next season.
Imran Ahmed juve Pogba was far from amazing but it shows that u didn't watch him then
the halfback is genuinely one of the greatest positions in football, with a halfback in 433, he can help to create an overload in midfield and help create an overload against 2 strikers
Finally. I had been requesting this for ages.
You're not the only one! - Danny
Man u should be a football manager, this channel help me become a manager in the future
As a Spurs fan I've been waiting a long time for this and it didn't disappoint, thank you!
Been waiting for this video for so long
I think a lot of people have :-) - Danny
And it's fantastic as usual, liked
Explain Bonuccis role at Juve and Italy
Trebor 10 defend and do long balls passrs
Zip it up I'd rather watch an animated interesting video than read a UA-cam comment.
Trebor 10 well you did ask for a explanation for his role. Be more specific next time
Trebor 10
Chiellini is their best defender. All Bonucci does is play beautiful long balls
Akshay Mhatre ...ok mate
Great video, been waiting for this one for ages!
As an arsenal fan i despise him, as a man of The Bielsa School of Coaching i respect him.
killercaos123 always good to see a sensible rival fan
Hey mate....how about him now is he suitable for arsenal?.... I prefer him
@@felixlimo3398 nope he is Spurs forever
Very thorough and articulate, i'm not a big fan of tottenham but i love Pochettino. Will be interesting to see what type of player spurs this summer because last summer was really bad but furthermore a proof of pochettino's genius: Most points over two whole seasons, playing this type of football with a net spend of 9m. amazing.
I love watching Tottenham, their style of play is so attractive because it's played with such a high tempo
Matthew14036 Idk why Poch doesn’t play a 3-5-2, they are way better at that as they break down teams and player a lot quicker football, any other formation they seem to struggle or be uncomfortable with
Shadow man maybe he hasn't got enough back up defenders if one was to get injured
been waiting on this for a while!, not a spurs fan but i still very much enjoyed this
well done on another great video
We're glad it was worth the wait for you! - Danny
Your videos are excellent! Absolutely love them!
Amazing video!! Keep up the great work!!
Thanks for doing this video on my favorite club, thanks for making this
Great video , but also should have specified Alli's role individually , like you did for Eriksen . Alli is almost like a second striker after all
Brilliant analysis, its clear you take your time with these videos...youve just got a new sub
Welcome! :) - Danny
This is quality.
UA-cam needs more videos like these, really interesting to see how other teams click in detail
Thanks mate! - Danny
Came from Reddit. Great video. Subbed.
this was really well done, it really well portrayed why spurs have been so successful by having players who can play eachothers positions allowing fluid dynamic football centered around a creative and incredibly skillful midfielder (eriksen). every player in the squad is paramount to success because of the style of football there is no room for dead weight, and that is a testiment to pochettino's coaching for literally every one of the current teams players to be so good at their roles. This was beautiful.
Damn, I love this channel!
Much love Eben! - Danny
This is the best tactical channel I have seen on football and tactics. Do you mind telling me how you do the animations?
Your voice makes my anxiety go away.
Best one yet guys!
Thanks Carter, glad you liked it! - Danny
Great video.
Our surge of progression is not as fasinating as Leicester's but Spurs have come a long way in the past 10 years
If Chelsea hire him, would love to see Mount in the Eriksen role, fits it perfectly.
I agree
😂😂😂 now mount is gone
Thank you so much for this video.
No problem! - Danny
Dembele deserves huge credit that guy is hugely under rated and it shows when he is not in the side and it's a surprise one of Europe's big sides haven't bought him. his style of play and ball retention would suit Barcelona and him a busquets side by side would make them solid once again.
Do Juve tactics
Juve Easy. Be incredible all over the pitch. End.
Get the first goal and defend with 11 men in box. Try to catch the other team over committing in an effort to get the goal back, the end. boring.
5 defenders+2 defensive midfielders even a striker playing as a defensive winger (Mandzukic) i think counter attacking football is a simple way to put it defend till the other team gets tired of pressing
Park the bus, counter boring
We have something special planned for the UEFA Champions League Final - Neil
He would like Telles, Dalot and VDB with his systems. We would need a clear Matic replacement and I bet he has someone in mind.
I really like Wan Bissaka so hopefully he becomes an attacking fullback
All credits to Mauricio Pochettino, arguably the best and the most underrated manager in the league. Coming from United fan
Lovely analysis
I don't understand who gives any of these videos a thumbs down!!! This is easily one the best footballing channels on UA-cam. Regardless of who you support, these videos are amazing 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
The thumbnail scared me
Imagine pochettino at man united, with better players more money. We could be playing sexy football and winning
I can't wait for the "tactics tested" video for this tactic!
Great stuff, was hoping you would do a spurs one.
Cheers Lloyd, it was a heavily requested one! - Danny
How did you not mention Moussa Dembele at all? Was so crucial this season
I would like to understand more of Eriksen. Please make a video on that.
great video, but as a spurs fan i think there's a few things you could add. spurs love playing out of the back, even under pressure, and rarely boot the ball up the field pointlessly. this is possible bcuz of alderweireld, vertongen, and lloris' ability on the ball. also alderwiereld's long diagonals, and dembele's dominance and grace in the midfield
great vid tho, thumbs up #coys
thank you Alex, thank you Joe
great vid as always but I felt that the defensive analysis was neglected a little, this is the team with the statistically best defense in the league.
He's one of our own!
He's one of our own!
DELE ALLI!

I'm surprised Dembele wasn't mentioned, he plays a key role in transitioning from defence to attack
Pochettino was cooking without fire with Tottenham
I think Dembele deserved a special mention, what a powerhouse!
great explanation but you missed dembele
I know this won't get many upvotes, but maybe you could do a video about the tactics of SC Freiburg. They might qualify for Europa(they are 5. In the league) this year in the Bundesliga, although having the second smallest budget and having about -15 in goal difference
Do a top 6 comparison with focus on play style, formations, player profiles and managers
Liverpool 2016/17 tactics explained please..
Tottenham's best team ever in the BPL. Got second place, knocked out of both of the European competitions and made the FA cup semi final. Lol so impressive

Are we ever gonna see a Tactics Explained Video on the Invincibles? it would be nice to see how Arsenal did it
It's on the cards. Hold tight.

Conte should learn from Pochettino how to use Eriksen. It is a shame one of Inter's best players neither plays regurlarly nor is proper used.

Do Tactics Explained: Total Football!!
I would also love to see a Fulham/Slavisa Jokanvic 16/17 tactics explained.
I am a little shocked in the exclusion of Dembele's contribution to their system
In these videos, we don't have time to address every contribution to the team. We felt that there were other players without whom the system simply doesn't work, who deserved focus. Our podcast going out next Monday makes reference to Dembele, and why we left him out.
- Joe
ah, I see, thanks

BigVic we were never fighting relegation...
Tjutd7 we were in 2008/09
We finished like 8th that season, thats not relegation
BigVic Tottenham have never been a big club,so that's why what pochetinno is doing is excellent work. Great manager you got there.
Tjutd7 your probably still young but 8th was acc successful back they before redknapp came in we were in a relegation scrap for the first half of the season
