Guess what.......................................... I just took delivery today of a 550x kit (2nd hand - had one before) - gonna get it built to stock and enjoy it. Great vid - thank you for the effort!
That's awesome congrats on the new family member!! I would love a 2nd 550X!! Mine is still all stock and I enjoy it SOOOO much! Thank you to! Loving your vids!! 🎬👍👍
We need to do a lot of things to the electronics before flying. If I get a trex 550x, I will be a complete noob. But your video on how to build and setup will help me if a I get a large helicopter.
Hahaha that's where I'm at, a complete noob!! It seems to be working good though, at least on the ground, I tried to maiden her today but it was just windy enough I didn't. I'm glad the video might be useful to you when you get a large heli, Thanks!
I’m about 1 month behind you. Got my 550X 6 Dec. I’ve ran out of parts so it’s time for electronics. I’m new to big electric and size of this Heli. I did have a 30 size Shuttle 15 years ago but I’m a noob here. I’ve searched and watched all the videos I could find on the 550X. Most are good but always leave something out. Your videos on the 550X are THE BEST for us noobs. Noob to noob works best. Keep up the good work and Thank you for these video guides. I’m sure I’ll have questions I may throw your way if you don’t mind. Take care and be careful with this Ninja blades.
You're going to love the 550X so much! I'm excited for you, such an amazing heli! Haha yes noob to noob is definitely the best! I was most worried about the wiring and programing, but it went pretty good. The microbeast manual lays out the programming pretty easy step by step. Thank you so much for watching and commenting and I'm very glad it helped you! And I'd be more than happy to help in any way I can, leave a comment in any video or drop me an email if you need! 👍 Thanks again!
My green eyed monster is drooling at the possibility of losing the maiden race! I had the same on several things. I spooled with blades off so I could use my tach to check head speed, and had tons of gear noise. Thought it was my TT bearing so i removed the boom, spooled up, and found the gear noise and the seemingly excess vibration were still there. I assume it is normal. when I finally got the solid blue light on the MB+ which told me it had found the RX, I then remembered in the 5.2 manual, (yes, I had the wrong book also) and it says hold the MB+ button 2 seconds, wait for flashing A light to go solid, indicating set up mode, then I went through the alphabet setting and watching for the red or blue solid or flashing for servo throws/ limits. Then, I get to the M LED and when that's set, it went to solid Blue, and never got the N light. The N light is another setting I think for gas power. I admire your courage to spool up with blades and indoors. I'm not that brave. Apparently, your throttle curves are above 44%. My motor wouldn't come on and spin the head till at 44% or more. I have since done some research and I find info saying Max Head RPM is 2600. That tells me the % should be 70% or 80%. Several guys are saying a little more. I'll stay in FM 2 until I learn more. I need to get home and do the throttle travel limit set(where I liftoff in the book). I ordered the ESC adjusting tool and it arrives tomorrow. I should also get back home tomorrow PM and I can then tinker with settings. If you get to maiden, I wish you all the best !
Haha! You still might win now! I tried to go out today but it was just windy enough I wasn't doing a maiden. That's interesting we have had a very similar experience with our builds, I was confused with N in the MB also but the heli all works like I think it should, so I think it's good. I just worked out the head speed last night, the Align book says never exceed 2700 RPM, I was going to stay around 2500 or less and see how it feels. I did the math for a fully charged batt at 25 volts and I set my FM 2 at 75%, should be around 2571 RPM, my FM 1 is at 60% around 2057 RPM and normal I set to all 50% at about 1714 RPM. I set all of my normal at 50% because my motor wouldn't spool up at the 25%, sounds like yours is the same. Now if you get to maiden first, I also wish you all the best! I'm kinda regretting not flying today now but i'd regret it more if I crashed in the wind!
So I'm coming into this, buying one of these here in the next few weeks. Have everything I need laid out. How did you do the connectors for the ESC/battery. I think that's the last note I'm really looking into. What connector does it come with? I'm looking at EC5 on the battery - 5000MAH 6S
I'm very excited for you! This heli is a beast and I love everything about it! You're going to love it to! The ESC comes with no end on it, the wires are prepped and ready for you to solder one on. I soldered on a EC5 connector I got from Progressive RC #AC-EZEC5, I'm also running a 6s 5000mah. I'm editing a video we did with it today showing it's pulling power, it will be out in an hour or two, be sure to check it out! Good luck with your heli build! Happy flying!
Hello bro got a question for you I know you have been flying your 550x for some time wanted to ask you a question do you have a little play in your rotor head feathering shaft I'm asking because I got a used one and it's got some play in it just wanted to see if you have some play in your feathering shadt also🤙
I calibrated the throttle with stick in high position, then power up, wait, then stick down, the other settings I think default is good for me.... I think. Hope I did it right!
Oh good! I'm so excited! I can't wait to get her inverted! The wind is still blowing like crazy though, Hope I don't have to wait to long for good weather.
Building a heli is the easy part. I am worried about electronics like servos,gyro.... I wanna do 3d flights.Any of those servos have the wrong rate there goes 1100. For totally new guys wanna fly helicopters start with small helicopters.
Just get MSH Brain / Ikon 2 and it will be super easy to set up electronics via PC software through 'wizard' with bunch of tips and descriptions during stages. You even can try their software in a demo mode without having actual flybarless device.

ok seen it - i have my motor wires to the right and it is just a cluster - gonna move them to the left as you have it - cheers m8.
I tried so many different ways to fit it all in there, it's a very tight fit for sure! Hope you get yours all nice in there! Happy flying Heli Shed!!
Waiting for the maiden!
Me too! I was hoping to maiden tomorrow, but it's been crazy windy for a couple of days now, hopefully tomorrow is calm but it's not looking good!

Great build. I am going to put 550x in scale fuselage. Could you please advise the length from main mast to the end of rear tail case please.

My first go with the microbeast landed me back on the bench rebuilding...im done with micro beast aufficed to say hahaha
Did you calibrate the esc?

@@kingfamilyrc5376 you are all good then. You are ready to go inverted

Throw the BeastX in the trash, Spirit FBL systems are so much better, good build well done
