    I’m jealous of your peppermint bristlenose! I love those. Crossing breeds/species tends to produce really healthy animals due to expanding the gene pool. The concern is when people cross species, then sell the offspring as a pure species. Especially for endangered species like goodeids, rainbows, and killifish wherea cross could ruin small gene pools. If you like the rasbora cross, keep making them! Just be sure to label them that way if you sell them. 😊

      Hopefully they'll breed for me within a year or so and I'll have some to get rid of! I love them too, they're beautiful! At first I thought they were starlight plecos, but now I know for sure they are L181's. I really appreciate the insight you have on cross breeding fish and yes I 100% agree with not crossing endangered species! If that happened, I would cull the accidental crosses. I get nervous keeping multiple species of rainbows in the same tank but I can easily identify them and I don't think any fry would survive in a community tank (although with proper conditions I know it's possible)

    Only issue with crossing them is people will get confused with what they are and then it will screw up any pure lines out there

    I had some hybrids. They were celestial coloured bodies with the dark black spot of the emerald to the rear. Cool looking and laid eggs like crazy. Didn't seem to last as long though.

      Interesting, thanks for letting me know. Mine are very similar to what you're describing but I have no personal experience with how long they last as I've only had them for about a year. So far they seem healthy which is good!

    Beyond psyched for the fish I ordered to come. Ordered a full gold trio and a galaxy trio. SO excited for them to come and see what kind of fry they throw with my little mutt trio.
    😍😍😍 New baby! My baby is due in May too. Which is why I've been trying to get my tank setup and stable so I have something nice to look at when I'm up with baby. Awww. God bless and congratulations!

    i totally understand the aggressive fish statement..., i really don't like it either. i had platties that one male would absolutely not stop chasing another male, despite heavily planted 55 gallon. that male went back to the store. same thing with another male platty and a male black molly just chasing each other and biting then literally hunting each other! black molly went back to store!

    Great videos, loving the expansion. The blue galaxy guppy trio I bought from you last month are now a colony of 40 to now 50 or more. Just had second drop from one of the females, one drop from another looks like a total of 40 or more 2 day old to 1 month old fry. Raising them up in a well planted 20Long with neocaridina shrimps. I may start splitting them out into individual 10 gallons to grow up, while i move some guppies outside. Already moved the White Clouds outside as I think they'll be able to handle the April through late May weather, then the mixed/mutt guppies will go outside late may. And maybe.... maybe... if I have room.... a trio of your full golds. We'll see how the next week goes as I move fish around. Pretty sure I could free up a 10 gallon for them... and maybe... that happens. today. maybe... dang they look great. Congratulations to your wife, and you :)

      Thanks Chad, I always enjoy seeing your fish room updates too! I'm glad those females are giving you so many beautiful babies! I really love that strain, I think they're just gorgeous. Do you find that they eat a lot of your shrimp? I wanted to put some white clouds outside but I was worried that it might be too cold. Your place is possibly even colder than mine so I think I'll go for it. Can't wait to see your mutt guppy pond too! That's going to be Awesome

      @@sydneysangels They may be eating shrimp, but there is enough cover that a large amount of shrimp survive. I'm not really trying to breed shrimp, but it's a great addition having a colony of them. I have shrimp in all my tanks living with guppies, mollies, white clouds, pristella tetras. They just don't breed as much or baby shrimp don't survive. But since they baby shrimp survive pretty well in the 20Long, I just take the shrimp from that and fill into the bigger tanks that don't have shrimp breeding.
      They don't any that are on the medium to large scale, and only time they'll peck at them is if I put repashy or piece of food is being contended for.

      @@sydneysangels And yeah really want to get the mutt guppy pond going again, needing to do a pretty strong cull as a lot are coming out with deformed spines - it's looking like scoliosis as they have the development when they are young. My original mutt guppy had a bent spine, thought nothing of it as she was quite prolific, but it appears those genetics have expanded even more. I'm sure a few blue galaxy culls may fortify the mutts. As for the white clouds - we got real hot and I wanted to kick start the outdoor tub. It will get cold this weekend, so I'm looking for solutions for cover as I think it will stay warm enough for them with cover - like a greenhouse effect allow light in, but not radiation out... and black sides will absorb sun warmth. I've had these white clouds for 1 to 2, some pushing to 3 years pretty hardy guys, albeit getting old.

    I don't have an issue with CPD hybrids as long as everything is clear. the first CPDs I bought had some hybrids mixed in and I didnt know any better until after the fact.
    I've found Corydoras easy to breed, but I've got some of the easier varieties. I have a group of HiFin Paleatus I got as juveniles around halloweeen and already have about 250 fry growing out. I do suspect you're getting quite a few more eggs than you're noticing - many corys will eat a good number of eggs, look for them to spawn which for many varieties is early in the day.
    I totally understand cutting things back a bit - I am amazed at how much water you change. I do want to note that your videos are always appreciated, though.
    Most importantly, congrats on the addition to your family!

    • @sydneysangels
      @sydneysangels  Рік тому

      Thanks Lucas, I really appreciate that! That's a good point, as long as it's clearly marked and understood that people are getting hybrids then it's on them whether or not they want to mix them in their stock. Wow that's a lot of fry! I bet you're right, I've seen videos of corydoras spawning and then eating the eggs immediately so I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. Thank you for the kind words

    some crystal reds would be a good idea for your water. very rewarding shrimp aswell. they like the lower ph. they will also clean fish eggs. so if there was shrimp in the tank you threw the mop into they'd keep the eggs good

    Like a mad scientist down there! Curious, for your brine shrimp hatcheries do you not hatch them with a continuous light source? I always thought they needed constant light to hatch. I'd love to be wrong so I can stop doing this!

    • @lucasfaley
      @lucasfaley Рік тому

      I cant speak for his situation, but I hatch BBS twice daily without a light source or heater - I do have to have 3 hatchers though so it takes me 36 hours when others might get hatches in 24.

    • @sydneysangels
      @sydneysangels  Рік тому +1

      Haha that's what it feels like sometimes! Yeah that's what I've read too but no I don't ever give them a constant light supply and they hatch out very consistently for me. I do think the fish lights being on from 11-7 next to that area helps though
