  • Hi everyone, we are back with another huge Vlog, this time exploring the magnificent Elan Valley in Mid-Wales. On this journey we encounter risk taking sport bike riders 😂 and witness a spectacular overflowing victorian dam spillway. The Meteors legs are well and truly stretched! If it's too long then please do skip ahead to Elan segment. Thanks for watching.

    10.00 Hi, That’s why I’m buying Meteor 350 co’s I ride my XSR 700 like he did. Although I’m 75 I’d like to go on a little longer 🤭 an wouldn’t if I keep goin the way I ride now. My biggest hurdle is goin to be getting the mind set to just pooling around. You sound fairly young for riding a 350 plodder, but also sensible 👍 many thanks for a great vid. Keep it shiny side up. 👌

      Thanks for the lovely comment. I would add that the bike kinda makes you pootle around, it doesn't really like to be thrashed. I am 35 and probably one of the younger ones on the owners groups but they are a lovely group and everyone is happy to share and help each other. I also have a sport bike that I am preparing to get back on the road this spring. That's 100bhp more than the Meteor 😄

    Great vlog. Ive driven through the Elan valley many times to visit my folks and ive also cycled around it. This year I'll take my Meteor and enjoy it in a different way.

      Hi Nathan, thanks for the comment and the feedback. Apologies for the late reply, I've been on holiday. Agree Elan is a lovely place and well suited for the Meteor, with the type of roads there and the general 'bimbling' speeds one can ride around at, it fits the bike perfectly.

    Good video B&B. My wife and I took our long time biker friends to the Elan valley ( we were in our car) and judging by the weather you had it looks like we were there the same day.
    I hope to return but next time on my Meteor.

      Hi Paul, thanks for the comment and the feedback! Elan I think is a perfect place for a visit on the Meteor, you can just Bimble around the reservoirs in comfort there's plenty of places to stop and gather refreshments and it's not that out of the way. Very pleasant indeed. Never seen water levels that high before though!

    enjoyed that MM as I live in Kington, which you rode passed. I am also a passed biker that really wants to ride again, so I was with for every bend and turn.

      Hi Jmurkz, thanks very much for the comment and kind feedback. Much appreciated. My dad got back into biking 3-4 years ago and bought a Mutt 250cc. He's really enjoying it. The Meteor is also a great choice bike to get back into riding and there are a few owners who live around you!

    Great video. The Elan Valley is smashing, off there for a couple of days for my birthday next month. If someone had said, "My bike's brown," I wouldn't have thought much. But your Meteor is absolutely stunning looking in brown. Definitely the nicest colour of all the Meteors. Anyway, you take care (good riding by the way) and stay safe.

    • @MindfulMotorcyclist
      @MindfulMotorcyclist  2 роки тому

      Hi Marcin, that's very kind of you to say so thank you. I used to call the bike brown until someone told me it was Copperbeech Bronze which sounds much better, apparently this one one of the heritage RE colours so I kinda adopted that term after I found out. Whilst we are on colours, do check out the video on the recent new Indian market colours for the Meteor, the Supernova comes now in red for example 😃. As far as the riding, well thanks for saying that as well, I've had people pick apart my riding which is part and parcel of uploading video of yourself on a bike to UA-cam but its nice to receive some positive feedback. I hope you get nice weather for you birthday trip to Elan. Its a lovely loop around the reservoir but there are nice roads all around the surrounding area too! Thanks.

    I enjoyed that mate! I've been enjoying all your Meteor videos tbh. I am considering buying a Meteor which is how I discovered your channel. I might go for a Classic 350, I'm as yet undecided. I'm off to the Scottish Motorcycle Show next weekend to have a close look at them both (I'm in the Scottish Highlands). I'm a returning biker having sold my last bike 26 years ago! These Enfield 350s seem to tick the boxes for me as something to enjoy for a weekend potter around without risking my licence and to use locally.
    I used to live in Surrey and would ride up through Wales to Betwsy Coed and back sometimes on a Sunday on my BMW K75/S. I haven't been to the Elan Valley though. It looks lovely.
    I did meet up with some guys from Renaultsport Clio 200 group for a day driving through mid Wales around 5 years ago.
    Keep up the good work.
    Oh, and I agree with the comments on your audio setup. It's good to hear the exhaust note and the commentary is still clear.

    • @MindfulMotorcyclist
      @MindfulMotorcyclist  2 роки тому

      Hi John, thanks for the comment and the support of the channel, it really goes a long way and keeps up the motivation over here 👍. Many people share your predicament with the Meteor 350 or the Classic 350 and as the Classic is 6-12 months newer a few Meteor owners are trading in. I haven't actually ridden a classic but I've seen them at the Manchester motorcycle show and they do look great. There's more colours available on the Classic and better combinations of colours in my opinion. They also have a conventional gear shifter which some will prefer but don't have the tripper navigator. The classic will also give you the option of wire wheels which are not available on the Meteor. The one thing I've noticed about all the chrome is that it's a pain to keep clean If you ride in winter (Perhaps you aren't planning on that) but depending which classic you opt for you would have to clean it a lot.. only the stealth black perhaps exempt. One final thing to consider if you do opt for the Meteor is that most of the parts specced on the higher tier models are available on the Fireball so perhaps just make a choice based on colour alone and then add things like a screen or pillion backrest afterwards if you fancy those items on your bike. My Dad is also a returning biker and it's great, there's so many options now for simple motorcycling, he actually chose the Mutt Mongrel 250 as it's a bit lighter but Triumph also have a 40bhp single cruiser in the works aimed at the Meteors market segment! Thanks

      Hi Mr FUNA 😊. Thanks for the comment and the support of the channel. Wow, so you have first hand knowledge of the Autogyro. I wasn't quite sure at first whether it was a microlite or something like a small personal helicopter. Very interesting to see one in the skies above Herefordshire! Did you find the engine loosened up as you reached 1200 miles on your Meteor?

    I think it is called a Gyrocopter (in the film she was called "little Nellie " ) the top blades are not connected to the engine the blades behind the engine are , which act as as pusher prop . top blades spin faster as air is drawn over them, they used to be called Autogyros

    • @MindfulMotorcyclist
      @MindfulMotorcyclist  2 роки тому

      Hi Colin thanks for the comment. I assume from the above that the top blades are not powered then? Drive only goes to the rear prop? Thanks

      Hi John, Thanks for the comment, much appreciated. The bike is doing well now, happy to have removed the screen and now without wind noise. I'm glad to be very close to the 1200mile fully run in stage so I've started to use the engine a little more. Cruising at 55-60mph is easy and I've been stretching the bikes legs making some overtakes. It does seem to have slightly more punch low down since getting over 1000 miles but not a huge difference. All in still very happy with the Meteor. It's my first brand new bike and no regrets at all 😊

      Hi Joe, thanks for the comment, very much appreciated. The Meteor does a fine job of executing overtakes but you have to time it right and be a little bit more cautious than perhaps on a more powerful machine. Good fun all the same 👍

    • @paul6598
      @paul6598 2 роки тому +1

      My engine light has come on too. It is probably an oil temperature sensor fault. I confirmed this with the dealer I bought the bike from. They tell me RE are looking into this.

    • @MindfulMotorcyclist
      @MindfulMotorcyclist  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Raymond, thanks for your comment and feedback, very much appreciated. There are 4 possible options for the engine light 1) take it to the dealer and reset it for you - ok this is a pain and you'll spend half a day messing about but they will correct it free of charge 2) buy the reset tool and do it yourself it's less than £30 3) follow the reset ECU procedure without any tool 4) let the light go off on it's own - mine did before and others have also reported this. For full details of the reset tool including links and also for the non tool ECU reset head over to the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 UK owners Facebook group and you will find all information and links there. They are also a very friendly bunch who will help with all sorts of Meteor related issues should they come up! Thanks.

    My Fireball White has black text on white background and id like a white on black background

    • @MindfulMotorcyclist
      @MindfulMotorcyclist  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Jt, from what I can tell the tripper changes from from Day mode to Night mode (that's what they call the colour switch) automatically at 7pm. There is also planned to be a toggle switch in the phone application that can change it for you. I'm not sure if that is active yet however as I don't use the phone app. Thanks
