I always thought it was interesting that Ceausescu, a communist, lived such an aristocratic lifestyle. I remember my Romanian friend telling me about his summer home, which was a big castle in the Carpathian mountains, where, to be fair, he would have delegations of workers and peasants sent up to vacation with him.
Of course, he told me that the bodies of those workers and peasents would usually be found on the side of the road drained of blood a few days later, but it's the thought that counts.

Yes, because that’s how communism always ends up: dictators who don’t actually care about the people and they like capitalism when it benefits them. It’s all about control and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out. Now it’s been 170 years of this ideology constantly failing and it’s tragic that people in the west keep thinking it will work. Just ask any Eastern European what they think of it.

That's it keep spreading the lies when it was our previous president who had the gold plated bathroom fixtures. Sanders is neither a communist or a socialist but he does believe in social programs like I do you know like soc. sec., medicare, public education and one I would like to add to this medical insurance for all. You on the other hand I guess would like to see our own totalitarian dictator have his coup and get back into office. News flash HE LOST THE ELECTION. THERE IS NO STEAL EXCEPT THE ONE HE IS TRYING TO STEAL.

It's more complicated than that my friend. Ceausescu was not a favourite of the communist revolutionaries who preceded him. They didn't want him. He echoed the Anti Russian sentiment of the fascist dictator Antonescu who was, guess what, also anti socialist and anti communist! The King Mihai had Antonescu executed for endangering the people of Romania by antagonizing the socialist Russians. After Antonescu's execution, Russian communists were allowed to influence Romania. Do you get it?
So Ceaucescu, by denouncing the Russians, was appealing to a fascist/ nationalist base. So it's not just a matter of communists ruining everything. Although the control that communism as a system gives politicians over the economy allowed for a lot of Ceacescu's atrocities.

Prior to either of these dictators that it was Liberals and Conservatives, like in the USA. But the people of Romania were pretty poorly off under them. Many were illiterate under the party politics system, peasants were not included in politics, and many people in rural areas were dying young. It was largely a peasant culture with various hubs of urban capitalism. Like Bucharest. Bucharest was very 'nuveau riche' and Romanians did not quite understand the modern system there, because it was created by Western Europeans in the 19th century.

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
