Raptor on the flares and side rails looks sweet 👌 did mine all round and also the interior trim on some spots a few years back and it' came up awesome 👍
It looks very good. The day after I picked up my new GSR Triton I had the tub coated with Line-X. A bit exxy at $1,200 but the job was perfect. I would reccomend Line-X. Given the cost of the DIY Raptor kits in the video link and the not inconsiderable amount of work involved for a DIY job, the coin I spent of the professionals doing the job for me looks pretty reasonable now.
A couple of questions; 1) Wouldn't sand blasting be quicker and easier? (I have the feeling the answer is yes, but only if you own a sand blaster) 2) Could you rinse the bed out with a pressure washer and hit it with the turp after it dries? Great video! I love your content.
1) Definitely not, just wouldn't be worth the cost compared to just sanding 2) yep sure could, just would take longer as it needs to be completely dry 👍
Great video once again Adam, I've missed watching this channel. Love the paint job looks mint.👌. How was the Fraser Island trip. You going to post any videos. I would love to see that Blue Beast in Action.
Cheers mate, back to weekly vids for a bit 😄 Needed the rain to bugger of so I could get some filming done 😂 Yep prob put a bit of a vid together for Fraser, had big how to plans but rained almost the whole time
@@VideoShowMeHow sorry to hear about the rain, I know it's been a wet few weeks. Hope you had a half decent time up there. Hope the next trip works out better. Great video thanks Adam, the Raptor coat does look good. I agree with you about the plastic tub liners plus they are slippery. I will now go for the spray on Raptor coat because I have an air compressor and I think you said the spray gun comes with the kit. It looked to me you removed all the tie downs and the black plastic plugs in the front wall of the tub. Did you do a video on installing the four weather shields on your DMax?
Yeah checkout the links in the vid description, there's a couple that have the spray gun as well 👍 No vid on the weather shields sorry mate, but good news is super easy, is just 3M tape
Has been experimenting with a few different types before getting the raptor done, keen to do a full kit now. These are just the adhesive 'D' seals from Bunnings
Nice video as always. Thanks n a side note, trying to find the vid where you pointed out the moulded floor matts, going to SA end yeah and want to buy some to protect from sand, what brand did you get and would you recommend?
Nice one mate looks good!!!!!! Did you have any trouble refitting the tie down points back in? Or does the raptor not foul the threads too much? Cheers
As always, great video. Can the roller be reinstalled after applying this? And can the roller be installed without the sailplane as I'm loving the look without it. Thanks for this series, I've only done a few of your mods but they have helped immensely.
Another silly question 🤣 I've just applied my first coat and am nearing the finish of the 60min set time, problem is I wanna do the 2nd coat but it's the evening and I'm worried the sound of the compressor will not appeal to my neighbours... Did you do your second coat at night time? 😂 I'm thinking of leaving it to set overnight send giving it a little scuff tomorrow and applying the second coat as I've seen that is an option. Would much prefer to do it now though...
Yeah is best to do the second before everything is fully set, you'd prob be ok if you did the second in the morning, needs a couple days to cure completely
Hey Adam, about to do they same to my Dmax. Am I correct in saying that you sprayed primer throughout the entire tub before spraying the Raptor coating?
have you had any water build up people are making worry it will get trapped in it and not drain? also not sure have egr dust seal but people say fit before others say after not sure who or what is best ? any ideas PS GR8 VIDS!!!!!!
Great video as always mate. I did fast forward a few sections so I may have just missed the answer to my question. Apologies if so. But. Now the water drains straight into the tub? Instead of under the liner keeping the gear in the tub dry. So this isn't necessarily a great idea unless your going to do the extra mods you have for us in the coming videos? CHEERS mate.
Hi, yeah factory drains straight into tub. I did some testing at the time with roller closed and spraying the hose full pelt on top and couldn't get anything more than a couple drops through the 'drain'. Don't think would be an issue. I've since changed to the roll r cover (vid on the channel) which has proper drains out the headboard end
@VideoShowMeHow fantastic results. Fingers crossed I'm a lucky one to have the same results with my roller shutter. Some people claim they get a lot of water in the tub even with the drainage under the stock tub liner. Thanks for replying and keep up the great content 👌
Yeah, I used to get a little bit in the top left corner, not that much though, I think it's more so the slats. In saying that I've had standing water completely covering the factory roller cover and no water was coming in. They're pretty good. It's say they are 90% water proof, don't expect the same as inside the vehicle, but pretty good. At the end of the day, it is just water anyway 😁
Hey mate just a quick question in relation to fridges what is the distance from the top of the ribs in the tub to the bottom of the roller shutter handle
@@VideoShowMeHow This might be a really dumb question, but if I Raptor line the tub, and then want to drill/screw things into the tray or the sidewalls, like anchor points , how much clearance do I have between the "skin" of the tub/sidewalls before I start drilling through the outer walls. Also in this video there a two round holes and the front of the tub on each side. Just wondering what these are? Hope my questions make sense and thanks again for this channel and all your advice.
Great video as usual Adam, very helpful, only problem is you are going to cost me a heap when I finally get my XT with all the mod’s . Quick question how was the range on your 2-way when you had your aerial mounted in behind the sailplane???
Cheers! Yeah range has been fine, longest so far that I've tested has been about 5km, haven't really had the opportunity to test further yet. @ronnydahl has done a great vid on this
How long does a coating like this last (roughly) before it would need to be reapplied? Is reapplying even possible or would it need to be completely stripped out somehow to be redone?
If done well it should last for years and years. If you were hammering it to touch any bits up you'd just sand the area and apply straight over the impacted bit no probs. But yeah it's designed to be permenant
Hey mate sorry but you stuffed up when you get in the back of the bed you need to use a clean set of thongs when you get in bare feet the oil from your skin will stay on the old sanded surface .... Even if you think your feet are clean they will never be no matter what which will give you problems later on .

Yep got the oem rubber plug online
Looks awsome quick question if you prime it, do you have to sand it again or can you paint straight over it? Thanks
Can prime then straight to raptor
Hey Adam, about to do they same to my Dmax. Am I correct in saying that you sprayed primer throughout the entire tub before spraying the Raptor coating?
No not the whole tub, no need, just need to prime any bare steel
did you seal all the gap in the tub? or did you leave them all open etc ? dont know what i should do some say seal all gaps others say dont :( ?
Yep I sealed everything 👍 Want to keep that water and dust out

Is hard

@@joshayre6811 about 430mm
Hi just wondering how you would fit the "swing" storage boxes without the availability of the tub liner?
Same way as you would with 👍 They're designed to bolt to the tub not the tub liner

How did you remove all the residue from the double sided tape from the tub? It’s turning out to be the biggest part of the job 😬
Caramel wheel and drill
@@VideoShowMeHowcheers mate!
Hi Adam, did you measure the height difference from the bottom of the bed to the roller shutter after you removed the liner?
No, but I think there's a bit in the video that shows how much the bottom gap is, I'd say 30mm or so extra
Hey mate what was the blue film did you use to cover the car?
hey, just some painters drop sheet from bunnings
Looks awesome Adam. Have you got a part number for the roof racks on your tub? I’m keen to get a set. Are you going to be using yours again?

Did you jump in the ute again to the second coat? Was it okay to stand on after that short first coat cure time?
No def not, while it's touch dry at 1 hour you don't want to put anything at all on it for 1-2 days at least. Sprayed over the sides 👍
