    Holy cow, 29K for that empty truck and it wasn't actually new. As an auto broker for nearly 2 decades, I have witnessed some terrible things from small dealerships but that's embarrassing and pathetic from such a large group. Always check the history, your perfect looking car may have been a previous flood vehicle or a rental and you can't see the damage. That place believes they shouldn't be nice to their customers. Did that guy forget who keeps the lights on? This story is disturbing.

    I used to sell cars and when Auto Nation bought the dealership I quit within two weeks. First, they have an AWFUL reputation and if you are used to working for an honorable organization then you just can never work for an Auto Nation owned dealership. Their managers IN GENERAL are some of the sleaziest in the car business and demand that you say things to a customer that is just unconscionable for a person who is used to ONLY saying things that are true. Look how this transaction was handled. I have almost never heard of such underhanded sleazy conduct by a major dealer. What I would like to know is WHY the State Dealer Board did not close this place down for at least three days? This conduct was FLAGRANTLY WRONG/ It is one thing to make a mistake and do everything REASONABLE to make it right. It is another thing to commit a FLAGRANT violation and not be sanctioned at all.

    This is where the State AG's office has to step in, file a suit against the dealership for Consumer Fraud, so they get their license suspended, fined, pay legal and court costs, etc. Unfortunately, despite these State laws in place, most States don't take any action or impose fines to protect consumers. This is why unscrupulous dealers get away with this kind of nonsense.

    Price adjustment my butt! He should have pushed the issue and made them give him the vehicle for free. A jury would have made this happen and he should have demanded a court hearing. This same thing happened to my grandfather's plumbing company on CO over 30 years ago. He bought a "new" van from one of the Chevy dealers and when he went to register it they said the VIN was from a van a year old. When his lawyer got done with the dealership my grandfather's company had 2 brand new vans for free.

The dealer has it registered for you. You have no clue WTF you are talking about. Even if he did, which dosent happen, what did he give to the DMV to register the van? If the van was used the dealer would have to give him a title. The title shows the year right on it. Fuck, you cant even lie correctly kid. lol

    These huge franchise dealers only care about one thing, volume. This is why I like to buy from these smaller family owned dealers over these huge franchises, less headache and you are actually treated like customer instead of a number. The VP stating they "shouldn't have been nice to the customer" over a problem that they caused is both alarming and sickening, after a statement like that you really start to understand the culture over at Autonation. Would you want to buy a car from them? I sure wouldn't!

    Dealerships can be some of the worst when it comes to buying a car. i bought a pontiac grand prix from a dealership here in new york it was being sold as new but had been driven by the dealership owners wife and had 560 miles on it. at the time a car had to have less than 600 miles to still be considered new. it was an 1987 with a chevy 305 and a 4 barrel carb..beautiful car all the way around.they wanted 25k for it and i got them down to 21,500 with an extended warranty.
    i had no major problems with the car during the warranty period other than a power antennae and some steering components(idler arm,lower ball joint, and driver side upper control arm bushings) but this dealership had issues honoring their warranty's.i am an auto mechanic myself with 32 years experience before i retired due to physical disability. and these guys would always try to bullshit me about what was wrong or how long it would take to fix,etc.
    i had a bad lower ball joint and they screwed me around and had me back three times to finally get it replaced under warranty. when i asked how long for it to be done they told me it would be all day. i was like fuck you this is the third time i am back and i know it won't take longer than 30 minutes to bring the car in set it up on the lift and replace the ball joint. this was at 8 A.M.
    i told them if it was not done and ready to be picked up when i called at 10 A.M. when i did get the car back i was going to drive it through there showroom.
    they called me at 9:30 and told me it was ready...

    Don't always trust your carfax report, my mom bought a used car at the dealership with a clean carfax report. we should have not been nice to the customer... the dealership should have made white bring back the truck...rewrite the deal.
    I can tell you since I work for a used car dealer that everything this dealership has done is illegal and if he real wanted to pursue it, he could have sued and won the dealership. you CAN NOT make someone bring back a vehicle because of your screw up.
    edit: just an add on to a months old comment. legally speaking this dealership said they could make him return the truck and rewrite the deal. that is illegal. once you sign the paperwork, you own it and the dealership CAN NOT make you return the vehicle so they can either sell you another one or make the deal better for them.
    but here is the big thing you should know about buying any car. if you are not walking away with the title in your hand then WALK AWAY because something is not right or is not going to go right.

    • @djbmw1
      @djbmw1 5 років тому

      savagedragon79 thats only applicable in certain states. In other states, and all of Canada, its quite different. When financing a car, you still own the car and title to it as the only business you have with the bank/lender is simply a financial product/obligation. If you default on that obligation then they can go after your assets. Lastly, to the OP's comment, even in those states and Canadian provinces, its not common for the title/ownership and paperwork to be done the same day as the MTO/DMV typically closes much earlier than the dealership and its easier to do a bunch of cars paperwork at once (perhaps going twice a week), instead of going there every single time a car is sold.

    Another prime example how dealerships have fleeced buyers FOREVER. My past experience with a dealership would sell the exact same vehicle to one customer and then another customer be thousands more....same vehicle. One day I heard the sales manager tell sales man to take a baseball bat back to his office and run the buyers OUT OF DEALERSHIP, due to lack of credit to purchase.

    Dealers will frequently use vehicles as loaners or as salesperson’s cars without officially titling them. Then they sell them as “new” because they’ve never been titled. Meanwhile, any number of strangers may have been abusing them for several months. I once went to a dealer to look at a Mustang Mach 1 only to find out that the sales manager had been using it as his personal car.

      Kyle Clap why not more than 10 miles? There are alot of cars that have 75, 100 mile son them that are new. Example, you want a car your dealer does not have. They say they can get it in a few days. Do you know where they are getting that car from? Another dealer on trade. So your dealer would drive a brand new dealer car to that other dealer and trade it for the other new car that you wanted and drive it back. There are your miles. Happens all the time.

      THE BOSS there is good used cars out there , however if I buy a new car I want it new for me a new car has less then 10 miles , if they have to bring it from another dealer out of state they better ship it on a trailer , I don’t want someone driving my new car for 100s of miles

      @Executiveinvestments- 6 років тому

      Kyle Clap First off my comment went WAY over your head. Second, show me ANYWHERE I said someone is driving the car 100's of miles. I said cars can have 75-100 miles on them. And when did I say a thing about out of state? Wow you just like to make up garbage. And its not your car they are driving. Its the dealers car. And they better ship it on a trailer? Yeah right. Not for those cheap ass pieces of shit you buy. Sorry but honda civics dont get shipped on trailers when dealers trade cars. Fucking moron.

    If it has more than 10 miles on it it's been used to much to be considered new. Even if it hasn't been sold to somebody and was just used by the dealers to drive around and get lunch, that is now considered a used vehicle in my books.

      Johnny B's Garage So if you test drive a car, then change your mind - the dealer has to sell it as used? Naah, that doesn't work, & there may not be a demo equipped the way the customer wants, so cars sitting on the lot are commonly test driven.

    Where I'm a little hazy is at that was a brand new truck it would of had less than maybe two to three miles on an odometer,, How did he not notice that there was more mileage on it would indicate that its a used truck unless they turn backyard odometer,, that is a federal offense,, unless it was noted on the paperwork

    A BIG FINE IS IN STORE FIR THE DEALER!
    Under Colorado State law, according to the Dealers Association, this dealer is likely facing a $14K fine!
    Sure, $14K may not break their bank, but it stings, and wipes out any profit on this truck by several times!
    Pretty counterintuitive for the dealer!
