I have followed you for a while now and you have completely restored my hair from the damage I received at the salon. I literally had to cut off 10 inches or more of my hair. I can’t choose a favorite, but Amanda has convinced me to try banana clips again. It’s time to heal from the trauma of the 80s & 90s clips. It really helps when you give tips about choosing the style with the dress in mind. I’ve always loved curls in updos. Some people spend hours curling their hair for something formal, but we grow our own. This makes me want to play & have fun with my hair.
Also, tornados, you hide; don’t go outside. The bloopers are hysterical.
Love this video! So many cool accessories I never would’ve known about. I’m going to try out the banana clip and the low bun; these also seem like great options for work.
Yas!! Honestly all styles are super interchangeable it all depends on how YOU wear it!
If you dont have a root touchup spray or you dont Want to risk it - an eyeshadow or brow powder in the color of your hair is great too - you get the precision of the pencil with the coverage of the spray ;)

As a curly guy, if I tried any of these styles people would question my gender, sexuality, and everything else about me. I've been letting my hair grow for over 2 years now (it's slightly below the shoulders), but I still haven't figured out how to style my hair for formal events. Most articles/videos about long hair on men only talk about straight hair or very loose waves, not the fairly tight curl action I've got goin on. The ones that do discuss curls only do so for casual settings.
Fellow curly guys of the comment section, what do y'all do with your hair for formal events?
I thing a great wash and go where your curls are on point is MORE than enough!! But to switch it up for some extra shine on a special day, a classic gelled/ wet look that is a little more slick back and very controlled is an excellent way to get heads turning!!
Hi! As a curly girl, I waited a bit until maybe a curly guy would respond, but since that didn’t happen yet, maybe my two cents can help: I saw all of these on formal or semi-casual events on curly guys at least once. Here a little list:
1. Open with middle part
2. Back combed or parted, then ponytail or bun in the neck or at middle high; mostly dark or hair color adjacent elastics (one man wore a kind of chunky plastic ring styled like battered silver metal vines to hold his small pony tail and it looked very elegant)
3. Back combed or parted and then a longish hair clip like Mel’s at 11:22 in a muted color to either only hold the upper layers back at the back of the head or all of the hair in the neck.
Sometimes they would also have face framing strands out and there were some who would gel their upper layers completely smooth for the back comb. For the tied back hair styles, I saw a few of them either wearing something like Mel’s side twists (11:04) or small braids tucked into the bun/ponytail as well. I don’t know how your stores are where you live but where I live, I can usually go into the hair accessory section in any store and find very toned down hair accessories next to the more colorful ones if you want to go for a more “masculine” style.
Sadly, I think you will still have to deal with ppl questioning your sexuality etc., since I feel like curly and long hair on men, especially when they know how to take care of it and want to put effort into it, is only recently becoming a thing again 😕 Hopefully ppl get over it fast 🙄
Anyway, this is all I could think of right now - I hope I could help you somewhat ☺️

As a guy with shoulder-length curly hair, I feel my biggest hair challenge is finding a format style fit for an interview; something that looks elegant and higher effort than a bun, but does not look wild or hipstery. My best guess was Hair Romance's "Curly Bun" hairstyle with braids on the side, but I don't think it looks that good on my darker curlier hair. Has anyone found anything that works for them?
Regarding people questioning your sexuality, I think you just get used to it after a while. Now it's almost funny to see how perplexed some people are when looking at me in public, though it's mostly middle aged men that react like that :D
I'm not a guy but I have curly hair and I find men with long hair so attractive. My partner has long hair but he has wavy/straight hair. But him just wearing his hair down is really elegant and formal. I think a really good wash and go looks great or a half up half down. A high bun is also really different looking. You're going to stand out for your hair but that's not bad!
If you love your hair who cares what other people think?

Im a bit late but a classic half pulled back half down (think lord of the rings elves) looks great on curly hair and quite masculine. I dont think youd need to do any slicking just make sure everything is tucked neatly/no flyaways
