    double check every thing i would pressure test it just to make sure the head gaskets are ok. plus while it is out do the front and rear main seals with the valve cover gaskets. just to make sure those are not going to leak. it is a good foundation for what your doing. plus that 350 sitting off to the side will give you a chance to do what you want to it.

    My research is showing that the L83 5.3L doesn't have the forged crank the LT1 does, also you can get a L8T stroker crank for cheap with 8 counter weights making a 6.2l block a 400ci...aka 6.6L..
    Thinking about buying the cheapest blown l83 I can find...
    Then a fresh 6.2l block, the L8T crank, pistons and rods...use the misc parts from the 5.3l to flesh it out...have a nice 400ci gen 5 cammed with say a TSP VVT stage 4 cam....600 NA...

    Funny, I was watching your old a/c video to refresh my memory and got the notification for this video lol. Interesting call on the gen 5. My 4.8 is pretty much ready to go just hanging out on the engine stand. Old 305 is in the process of coming out, this weekend got it torn down to the long block and drained the fuel tank. Next weekend hoping to get the driveshaft and torque arm out so I can get ready to yank that T5 out.

    Before I'd out that new engine in, I'd change the front and rear main seals. I had a 1995 Camaro Z28 with the LT1 engine and it was leaking badly from the oil pressure sensor which sits behind the engine. At first I thought it was the rear main seal but it turned out to be the oil pressure sensor. It was an engine out job to replace and a bitch to deal with. Rather do all that before you out it in my friend 😉

  • @brianreda1416
    @brianreda1416 4 роки тому

    So I see you're keeping the AFM/VVT for now. Are you also going to keep it flex fuel capable also? E85 and boost would be a nice combo if you have E85 stations in the area. Also how do you think you will do the fuel system for the direct injection setup? Curious what type of fuel pump you'll need to feed the DI pump on the engine. Really can't wait to see you do this swap. I think this is going to be a really awesome series getting the engine in the car and up running.

    • @lsxmatt
      @lsxmatt  4 роки тому

      I’m planning on running regular twin pumps with a return. The di system doesnt have a return so the pcm controls the pump. Adding a return will allow me to run a regular fuel pump to the di rail.

    • @MrJamestheredneck

      I'm doing ls swap in my s10 and the l33 is 50-100 heavier then the 4.3, the cast iron is 150+ heavier, so if I'm gonna take an educated guess, the aluminum motor should be less then the 305

      I sure hope so, we'll have to see what the n/a setup comes out to first. When the turbos come along I'll definitely want a cam, top end, and pistons/rods so that will drive up the cost a lot. I'm also not sure if I can keep the truck accessories, so yea thats more money...

The nozzle kit for spraying it is pretty expensive at $100, but it’s worth it in the end if you have a lot of vehicles. I did it at a shop I work at so we have the nozzle and the kits on hand for high mileage vehicles.
