- hello writerly besties! today i am writing like the one and only queen of romance books...coleen hoover! today i dive into the relatable and interesting tips and tricks the loved author uses in her day to day writing routine. and i can say this: it was honestly so rewarding. i hope you guys whip out your document and write alongside me because we talk about so many things in this video! from character devleopments to writer quirks - you NEED to watch every second of this writers vlog. and if you did - i hope your brain hasn't exploded ahhaha.

The only time I don’t wear socks is when I’m in the shower 😭 I just hate feet even my own
literally my all time writing setup= sweatshirt+baggy shirt+sweatpants+Fuzzy socks+fuzzy crocs+headphones+anna neu video=perefect
i only wear socks outside of the house (unless im wearing flipflops). on rare occasions, i'll keep them on after taking off my shoes or if i get tired of my crusty floor. a dog and a 4 year old boy who runs everywhere doesnt equal a clean floor..
Writing scenes out of order for me is one of the only ways I can write.
It's so much easier to get all of the scenes in my head out on the page and string them together from there!
I like her writing style, but I will say in her book “ It Ends With Us “ I felt the whole time me thinking, “Someone needs to tell her to turn off the italicizing tool every once and awhile.

Like really, I know it kinda matches her style, but it’s kinda something I had to get used to, and I definitely did feel like I got used to it by the end of the book. Which is pretty nice.
mn, different writers seem to have little ways to tell their own story. and sometimes it’s distracting to the readers. i actually found Shatter Me the same too. but I got kinda used to it at the end haha

My writerly quirk is that the only time I ever write is when I’m in class or in bed. Never anywhere else.
same! like if i fail as a writer I have no chance, I'm spending the time I'm supposed to do school work pretending to work and write.

This video helped me very much. Down below is my attempt to write like hoover. Its a scene from my new book, please correct me if I have any mistakes.
“LOOK WHERE YOU’RE GOING YOUNG LADY!!”
I jolted up and quickly turned to my right, slowing down and realising I was about to crash into another car. My fingertips instinctively went up my forehead rubbing it . I stopped the car at a gas station nearby, and I washed my face with the water I had.
Once again starting my car, I tried my best to forget the memories from the past 2 days. You’re gonna be fine Heather! Mumbling to myself I felt a bit of relief.
2 days ago….
“ARE YOU READY!! HEATHERRR!!”
Again! She started.”yes I’m coming down haze! We still have plenty of time in our hands.” I yelled back, struggling to zip up my gown. After what felt like an eternity I zip it up and went downstairs to see my mother and sister waiting for me.
“You look exquisite!” My sister Hazel complimented. “You look splendid!.” I reply while smiling. She smiled back and both of us got inside the car, making our way towards the ball.
I would say this ball is the most important one for me, since you get to choose whom you can get married to. I hope Nolan accepts me as his wife, I have had a crush on Nolan Keller since highschool. Meeting him through my parents was the best thing that happened to me.
I liked everything about him. His eyes, smile , the way he treats me. There is more stuff I adore in him, for now let’s keep it aside. “Are you excited to find your man?” Hazel questioned, I just looked at with rosy cheeks and smiled at her. “Yes I’m” I replied. After a long 20 min ride we reach the destination.
I got out of the car with the help of the maids who were there. “Thanks” I smiled at him and bowed in respect and entered the hall, to see all the girls were talking and some were drinking.
I went towards the bar, “Two shots of vodka,please.” I asked and made myself comfortable in the small chair provided. The bartender nodded and handed me shots of vodka. Chugging them within seconds I felt a burning sensation in my throat.
Everytime I don't feel motivated to write my book, I put on one of your vids and the motivation is back! :) Thank you so much!

I saw that you use Google Docs too!! I usually right-click a sentence to add a note and highlight it! That way when I reread, I don’t accidentally skip over the plot hole! 😂I don’t usually comment, but I love putting on your videos while writing! 💕 Have you thought about making a video experimenting making covers for your books? I think that would be a really good idea!! You have a nice day!❤️

This was amazing to watch! ( I haven’t read her books either… ) I also really like your channel call me chia it’s really amazing! Also the names are so cool Kaido and amen! Love those names! So when I was in the live I mentioned I have a plot hole… so basically after Liam’s dead and Idk if I should kill the mom but that’s not the plot hole. So basically the last bits of the book basically Olivia has a lot of bad habits like smoking and stuff and it going to be about her realizing she shouldn’t do this stuff and she gets a job and it’s happy! But the dads going to go to jail but HOW does Olivia call the police on him… or i could try and get Liam’s babysitter t relise that the whole kidnapping was a bad idea and helps Olivia escape. idk I’m just kind of brainstorming a bunch of things that could happen so give me your opinion! Love uuu so much! ❤️❤️❤️

One of my writer quirks only applies to my current WIP but I cannot write it if I’m not listening to Taylor Swift (and specifically the 10 minute version of All Too Well) which is kind of funny because my WIP is literally gothic/dark academia

omg this book sounds so amazing !! i would read it if you ever published this, i think the plot and the mood and the romance is very interesting :)) colleen is very humorous which adds to why ppl love her books all the better. i think its cause she interacts with her readers, both by herself on the internet and in her books.

as a self-proclaimed 'amateur writer', I have too many writer quirks for people to fathom because i am just so weird and all...
just kidding, I have two; first, I NEED to listen to rain sounds while writing or i won't focus, secondly, and this is the weird one, i can only write when I'm in a bad mood. Like for example, if I'm in a bad mood because i woke up too early, my writer mind just goes 'hi, I'm here and I'm here to stay' but when I'm in a good mood and want to write, my writer mind goes like 'u know wat bye bye luvs,'

hii!! i personally don’t really like reading too many enemies to lovers books - but occasionally they are so fun!! i would say sometimes, if it’s done properly it fine. but I understand why some people might thing the trope to be toxic. haha sorry I didn’t really answer it ahh

It would be cool if you put your nature sounds in the background instead of the music. I find nature sounds calming too (and perfume like L'Ombre Dans L'Eau by Diptyque and sometimes Pulp by Byredo, oddly enough).
What app do you use for writing? And is it free?

So, I just wanted to say thank you for the amazing advice that you gave me about motivation to keep writing during your live-stream. It was really helpful and I have felt better leaving my book for someone else. Funny story, I actually have an idea based on something that is going on in my life. It's like about friendship but other people get in the way yet the 2 characters build a strong bond. I don't know where to start. I find it scary to start a book because my lat beginning was really cringe and I want it to be interesting yet not give away too much of the story.
Now that I have gone off on a tangent (it's a habit of mine), I just want to ask u something. Can you put this story in the description because it sounds very interesting and I would love to read it. I love romance books and emotional reality that is fiction but could be someones real story.
