Pre-charged oil gallery with external gear pump. First attempt timing was out 180, 2nd attempt fired into life first time in 30+ years.
The smoke out the exhaust is engine assembly oil.
Wow that sounds so smooth.
... Now if I can just get my '53 Dodge to run this smooth, I will be a much happier guy 😖 ...

Two questions:
What type of anti-freeze did you use?
Did you install hardened valve seats for unleaded gasoline?
Valve seats are hardened from factory . I dont use antifreeze at all. I use 1/2 a cup of solubile oil (machining oil) mixed with tap water.
How much did the rebuild cost? I need to do the 201 in my 39 pickup
Where did you find a manual with the rebuild specifications? I've been searching the web with no luck.
Do you know how much horsepower these motors put out? I have a ‘52 McCormick W6 and someone put a 218 flathead in it somewhere along the line.

I’m curious what that carburetor is? My ‘48 dodge is needing a carb rebuild but it doesn’t look anything like that!

What kind of alternator is that? I'm looking to put one on a Dodge M43 Army ambulance at a Museum where I volunteer.
That is from a Nissan GU Patrol but I custom made a wider pulley. Probably better to do like I did on my Power Wagon and use an earlier Toyota FJ45 or FJ60 alternator as they already have the wide pulley .
