  • Tour of my new Frabill Predator 4255 flipover with custom mods. Have used in on the ice now and she worked out great! Looking forward to her first over-night adventure as a sleeper shanty on Flaming Gorge.

    That looks like the life! Canadian winters with no activities = not as much fun! These videos inspire for creative minds

    Looks good brother! Some good ideas there for sure. I especially liked the access panel being available while sitting on the other side. Might have to copy that one.

    Hope you answer! Is the platform just screwed into the plastic tub or did you mount a bracket? Hope to do this sort of build this year!

    • @hardh2ofishin857
      @hardh2ofishin857  Рік тому +1

      Yes, the pole brackets for the shelter are also on top of it. I just ran the bolts for those brackets through the platform then added a couple more on the back corners

    Very cool like the idea just bought one a Predator insulated how does it fold up on top of all that and how much extra weight does the wood have thank you.

      Folds up just fine as the poles don't fold into the tub anyway. Plenty of room too under the cover but on top of the platform for additional gear as well, although the tub is already huge, so I rarely need to. Extra weight is not a lot as I used 1/2 inch plywood.

    Hey man! Love the set up ! Just bought this house a few days ago, where did you get the control panel for the corner? And the strip lights ?

    • @hardh2ofishin857
      @hardh2ofishin857  3 роки тому

      Made the control panel from 1/4 in plywood painted black. The switches, battery volt meter and LED strip lights are all from Amazon.

      @@travisfarsdale4774 I don't recall which ones they were. They come in a single long strip, I think it was 15 or 20 feet and you cut them to length and add the wire connectors. There's lots of youtube videos on cutting/installing 12 volt LED light strips that can show you how to do it. It's very easy.

    @hardh20fishin just wondering what you used for support of the plywood? Have seen set ups where they've used 2x2s for a frame

    • @hardh2ofishin857

      All I did was get a 1" wide piece of aluminum angle iron that spans the width of the tub right where the two access panels meet in the middle and they rest on it. This way I can pull it out and have full open access to the tub as shown in the video. On the other sides of each panel, there's a piece of the same plywood glued/screwed to the underside of the frame portion of the platform and they stick out about an inch to provide a ledge for the panels to rest on (you can see it at 2:25 in the video).

    Hey there, I'm curious what kind of battery you're running in this house. Is it mounted up underneath the switch panel? Also, are those just LED strip lights stuck onto the tension bars? That's the mod I'm most interested in doing to mine, something to add some good overhead light in the house. Thanks!

    • @hardh2ofishin857
      @hardh2ofishin857  3 роки тому

      Hi Luke. I just have a 12 volt battery used for car stereos that I got for free. It's bigger than the small flasher size batteries but not as big as a car battery. I've run it for 3 straight nights fishing and never lost power. Yes, it's mounted underneath in the sort of dead space created by the front part of the sled that slants up. The LED strips had adhesive backing, but I then also used a long piece of the scotch brand packing tape to wrap over them and the poles so that there was no chance of them falling off or anything. The scotch brand packing tape is nice and thick, and has no bubbles so you can't even tell that it is there. Good luck with your mod.

    • @dbrown6358

      No issues yet. Though I only had it out 3 times last year since I use it only when staying out overnight on the ice.

      Yep...usually pull with my quad or the snowdog. Its not meant to be pulled by hand...just to big/bulky even without the mods. I use it solely for overnighting as basecamp sleeper or the occasional long day with the kids/wife if the weather is bad.
