Would like to add another thank you here, after watching several other videos on this class that speed run the abilities explanations/combos like you should already know them second nature this was a breath of fresh air as you explained step by step why things for the class work. Thank you and I feel much better about my basics on this class now.
(6.1 Changes below!) Welcome to Endwalker! Here are any significant changes related to this particular guide: Positionals: The positional requirements stated in the section about Hissatsu: Kaiten now INSTEAD have a damage bonus attached to them at level 50. So you should practice doing Gekko from behind an enemy, and Kasha from the side. This of course also means that the Kenki generation is no longer attached to the positional. The damage gained from doing the positional correctly is still very significant though! AoE combos: Your AoE finishers Mangetsu and Oka now innately apply the buffs from Jinpu and Shifu respectively, instead of just refreshing them. This means that any suggestions regarding AoE combos opening with single target actions can now be skipped and move directly to AoE attacks! Meikyo Shisui: While affected by Meikyo Shisui, the finishers Gekko and Kasha apply the buffs from Jinpu and Shifu innately, so you can use this new fact to quickstart your rotation, either in the opener, or after downtime. As some inspiring examples, you can use an alternative opener of Meikyo Shisui -> Gekko -> Higanbana -> Kasha -> Gekko -> Hakaze -> Yukikaze -> Midare Setsugekka. The reason you start with Gekko is to make sure you have the damage buff for the DoT. For the 1-2-tenka-goken combo you can also open with Meikyo Shisui -> Gekko -> Kasha -> Tenka Goken -> Gekko/Kasha -> Hakaze -> Yukikaze -> Tenka Goken. In the event 2 targets will live for a while, you can also do Meikyo Shisui -> Gekko -> Higanbana -> Kasha -> Higanbana -> Gekko/Kasha ->... Ranged attacks: Enpi no longer cancels your current combo, so you can freely use this when out of range from targets. Also, Enpi’s range has been increased slightly. Role Actions: Feint now additionally reduces magic damage, so you can use it almost at any time and always have some benefit. 6.1 Changes: 1) Tenka Goken is now a Circle Area of Effect attack instead of a cone. 2) Meikyo Shisui no longer can be wasted on Enpi. 3) Third Eye lasts an extra second. 4) Several potency adjustments have been added due to a massive change that is not directly covered by this guide. 5) Midare Setsugekka is now a guaranteed Critical Hit. 6) Hissatsu: Kaiten, which is mentioned in the video as an action you learn at level 52, has been completely removed. Most other changes regarding this will be addressed in the comment on my High level guide instead!
I just realized I had a major oversight of a change regarding positionals! Samurai have positional damage bonuses on Gekko and Kasha at level 50! On the plus side, you no longer lose Kenki from missing them at level 52 and beyond! See my edited comment above for details! :-)
@@CaetsuChaijiCh Thanks for this. Not only are you a joy to listen to, but you explain things very well. It was overwhelming at first, but after watching this I feel I have a far better understanding of how things work!
How does this not have more views??? Very good introduction, esp to noobs. I'm trying to learn DPS after nearly maxing out and hard maining healer, this is the best guide to SAM openers and rotations I've seen so far.
I am happy to see so many that find my guide helpful to them! Going from healer to DPS is certainly a world of a difference, but I am sure you will find Samurai fun! Remember if you find some inconsistencies in the video that my pinned comment may cover for that! 🙂
So easy job, feels great to play as well. A tip for any job is to not think about abilities as rotations, but rather as priority system. 1. Got buffs up? 2. How many enemies? 3. Do enemy live long enough for long duration dot? 4. Repeat
That is understandable what with how tanks, but especially damage dealers tend to have much more complex attack rotations than healers! It's always a matter of practice, so I am glad you found my guide helpful to hopefully give you a better start! :-)
Thankyou for being slow and concise with the pictures and names, makes it so much easier when you literally only just got to samurai and have trouble with all the asian style stuff. Really just makes trying to learn that much easier.
i'm going to be refering to this video multiple times as I get used to the mechanics of the Samurai! :D You've done a wonderful job at breaking things down and making it easier to understand :D I have subscribed to your channel because you are awesome!
Thank you so much for the kind words! If you have questions as you progress you are welcome to leave a question for me, even if it is out of scope for this video. Enjoy Samurai, and Final Fantasy 14! ^^
Thanks. I've been wanting to try Samurai but it seems so complicated. This guide gave me a good idea of which skills primarily work together and where to add in other abilities. Now for practice.
Thank you so much for this guide, just started playing ff14 and wanted to get Samurai as soon as I hit 50 but it was pretty overwhelming switching classes but you helped so much !
Simplifying what was seemingly a scary job isn't an easy task, but I actually feel like I understand what I'm doing now. Definitely coming here for all my new job unlocks.
Seriously. The first time I looked at Samurai I left due to what seemed overly complex. This video definitely helped me look at the class with excitement for positionals and combo damage.
That's awesome to hear! Yeah the amount of buttons you are given all at once makes it very scary to start on so I am glad my guide could help you to get started 😊
Thank you for the feedback! Yes, in fact, I hope to release a monk guide covering level 1 to 50 in a similar style to most of my other job guides after my next video. So in a couple weeks! Please look forward to it! :D

Some of the relic weapon steps are easier to do once you are already max level and such. Just remember that the relic weapons from previous expansions are mostly (if not entirely) just cosmetic! So if it is overwhelming remember you can always come back to it later 😊

@@tranceywhite1028 Ah Hissatsu: Gyoten? You simply use it if you need to get close to the enemy. Due to its cost combined with its damage value, its not worth using it if not for the movement. I do plan to make guides for the higher levels of every job, but I cannot tell you when the high level samurai guide will be up! In regards to the reverse dash, Hissatsu: Yaten, you can use this to get away just before a boss attacks in an area around it, and then use the boosted Enpi attack to make up for lost uptime. Outside of this, this should not be used either though :) You are very welcome to ask questions about the higher level actions here if you wish, and I will try my best to answer :)
