Cool truck, swap the cab, break down the engine, and hack the bed to look right, while doing worky work that pays money, and a full life with friends, family, children, and most important your wonderful spouse. Thanks for the sharing your labor of love with us.
Never seen that model before..i had a D200 in the same colour.. mine had 8 lug. It was a camper special. Mine had a ivory white roof. I went to home depot paint department and they computer matched the colour with some exterior house gloss paint. Worked good and cheap. 17 split rims were changed with 16' 8 spoke. Ready to find tyres.
My grandfather had a 64 2WD pickup as a farm truck. It got passed down to our family when most of its utility had been extracted. I still have a scar on the back of my hand from the ring gear of the flywheel I got while helping my dad work on it.
My buddy bought a sweet all original 79 warlock II from Oregon state, no rust at all surprisingly the original paint still shines. Very low miles, apparently bought new by an old woman who I guess wasn’t old when she bought it, but anyways only drove it when she needed it. Just a dream truck, absolute time capsule!
Must be an older video, still got the long haired version! 🤣 I love those era of power wagons, that front end was so unique. She deserves a little love 👍
What this video lacked in engine completion and appropriate beds , it more than made up for in outdoor vacuuming and invisible sandwiches . 👍 You rock !
Has to be restored, doesn't have to be fully restored with fresh paint and new upholstery just rot free and running good. We need more trucks around like this one so in 20 years when all of the brand new ones being sold today are already being crushed and recycled we have something to drive.
That truck is cool! Even with all its rust and issues, it’s In much better shape than any sweptline here in Pennsylvania. I know a guy who has several sitting in the woods behind his garage that the bedsides rotted off. They all look like flatbeds, with the bedsides laying on the ground on each side.
That cab looks exactly the same as my dearly departed 1962 D200 stepside (318 poly, 4-speed, 4.11 gears, etc). I think I was the 3rd or 4th owner, bought it when I lived in Oregon in 1979. Donated it to charity in 1998, now I'm sick that I didn't have room to hang on to it, I really loved that old truck and would restore it today in a heartbeat. If I had to choose between the poor old worn out beat up D200 or my cherry low-mileage (30k) '98 Ram 1500, it would be a tough choice.
Wow, that's a rough one. I wondered what was happening with this truck. Definitely have your work cut out for you fixing this one. But if anyone can make it go again, you can. Good luck dude!
I got so excited. You are working on a swept line I am working in my shop and I had to pause me recording. And video my TV congratulating you on working on that and me bragging about you. I have a lot of parts but I'm in Montana. I. Also, have a small stash of sweptline parts in Spokane. If you need anything.
Good to know! I really need early (61-66?) wiper linkage, pivots, arms, motor, both early door latches, and I think a passenger side fridge style door handle. I am planning to use my white cab for an upcoming project, but it was pretty well picked over before I got it.
@@DeadDodgeGarage I am pretty sure I have all the door latch mechanism for at least the latch assembly on the outside of the door. And I should have the wiper motor and assembly for that early year.
Whenever I encounter something like this, I break out my power washer and buzz everything as much as possible. It cuts down on the amount of rust you inevitably eat when wrenching. After everything dries out I start lubing everything as much as possible. Eventually it all gets done, it just depends on your resolve. Nice truck!
Power Wagons awesome! I have to fix my Dodge Van engine 1st. Then my 73 Power Wagon gets all my attention. Thanks for some of the parts I needed Jamie.
Keep the farm truck spirit! Doesn’t need to be perfect just needs to be able to work! Also this was a great video to watch and I look forward to whatever the next one is!
I drove 3 of these bodies in the 70s. They were cheap and unpopular. But I liked them a lot. Numerous Mopar oddities. The hood standing at 90 degrees, fuses in glove box, sturdy cab mounts, good heat. But the Chrysler diffs on 1/2 tonners had a definite lifespan......
Those trucks are so cool! IIRC, sort of kind of the same as the Petty/Prudhomme 1967 W700 Ramp Truck. Except that was a crew cab, with a 413, and extra racer stuff in the ramp bed. And a roof air conditioner.
If you guys are interested in old ramp trucks, there is a channel by the name of challengeher. They have Dick Landy's old ramp truck and are slowly restoring it. A couple who are most definitely Mopar enthusiasts.
That ones going to keep you busy for a while, but I bet it will be worth it. You're the expert, but I would think it would be a lot easier if you yanked the engine. Good luck with it!
In my opinion that Dodge body style is one of the best looking (I know 65 was the last year but not exactly sure what the first year was). If that was my truck the first thing I would do is strip it down to the frame and paint a coat of Chassis Saver on it. I would bore that 318 0.30, keep the cab, fenders and hood the same color (I really like that turquoise) and try to find an original fleetside bed for it. Lastly run dual exhaust with Cherry Bomb mufflers
My last poly was in a 63 Fury mordor that sat for a few decades in TN. I bought it about 7 years ago as a parts car and still have the plate, last registered in the year of the state's bicentennial, 1996. I don't know why the car was parked because after freeing the carb linkage and tossing in a new coil, it fired right up. It sat for so long the 2bbl air cleaner lid rotted through, it now hangs in my shop.
That’s what I do. Haha. I get videos up Saturday and Sunday mornings, and do my live stream Sunday evenings. But otherwise I stay out of the shop for the most part.
thats cool. i have a 65 the same color but updated version,, belonged to my grandfather he bought from new. its a D200. standard cab long bed. we both live in Western Washington. he replaced the slant six and manuaul transmission for a later 318 with automatic. i think from a 71 dodge. he used it with a camper
I think this Powerwagon would be a perfect home for the early Hemi you have. Just open the straight up hood and tell it to say "ah" and it will all work great! And I think the way to go for a box is a stepside. Those are easier to butcher and resize to the correct wheelbase if necessary.
This is why i love dodges they looked absolutely sick untill 1994 and anything from gm or ford from pretty much every era from 94 on down dodge just looks 100x cooler especially the more rust and dents it gets. I want a swept line
Full mechanical restoration - or - cut bait. It's really that simple, short of any mitigating circumstances (or personal value attachments). - Ed on the Ridge
My Grandfather had a '65 or '66 stepside(the big, round headlights), same color(teal?), with white painted bumpers, etc. Probably a slant-six, and 3 on the tree. Hope I can find some pics of it.
Yep my 200 the same. Had to lift the door to close it. Two handed job. Lol. Leave it as is. Put the metal bed back on remove weight from it. Find a big ugly fifty dollar slide in camper . If I find the pics to my 68,69,71 power wagon I will send it to ya. 361 big block short box 4x4 did a body lift and put a hp 383 in it. Oh and it was a 4sp. Pitched the step side for the swept line box. 33" tires on steel 5 spoke rims. Green cab, blue hood, orange box and the 71 grill. The orange box came off a utility company truck. It was so ugly it was cute. I traded a perfectly good 440 numbers 69 charger for it. What a epic mistake. I sold the 383 to a guy and the roller to another and it was never seen again, and I am good with that. No one wants to be reminded of being stupid. I hope you make it run and get the correct box cuz it will be cool. Oh and that grain truck I got the poly 2x4s off was the same cab. Just on a 2 ton with a dump box. Loved the stand up hood too.😂 and remember we do stupid things when we are young. Hint hint😂
I’m working on a 1967 W200 with a rebuilt 383. I need to get a radiator for it. Any suggestions for a brand new radiator? I have another’67 for parts. I was born in ‘64 and I feel like the old girl looks.
If there are brand new ones that actually fit, I wouldn’t know how to find them. I modified a 26” car radiator to fit in my ‘70. It’s a little janky but it works! I was looking for a radiator for that truck for years…
The ‘67 fastback is one of my dream cars. I’ve had two. My brother owns that one now. It was a slant six car. Personally, I would like mine to be the 273 4 speed Formula S flavor. I can always add some extra poop under the hood later.
You sir are a bad influence. I dragged home a rust free, short bed, D150 yesterday. It has a blown up 904 but came with a a518 in the bed! The 318 seems to run mint after draining the bad gas and water mixture from the tank. Best of all, my wife didn't kill me (yet).
A lotta guys throw Slant 6s and Poly 318s in the scrap heap. In my younger, more foolish days, I did too. But I found that, in stock form, a 2 bl 318 poly has a lot more torque than an LA 318. Maybe just cuz the older vehicles had deeper gears.
I just love the Poly. Which is funny, because I’ve never had one that ran right. I had one that smoked like a bastard, and one that pinged like crazy in one cylinder. Then this well used, disintegrating pile. But I’ve always found them to be endearing. Ah, and I will never forget the time I pulled up next to my friend Conor’s Poly powered Coronet (with a 4 barrel carb, but otherwise bone stock) in my somewhat built 383 powered Charger getting up to highway speed. Foot to the floor, we stayed neck and neck, and I could not pull away from him… that was an important lesson.
Dave found me this one on Facebook down in Vancouver, so I got him to go secure the asset until I could pick it up. Then somehow conscripted him to help me load it, find the bed for it, and then come all the way up here and help me fix it. The funny part is, I think he actually hates it
Your "Blue Burden" Power Wagon is an interesting truck. Give it your best shot and if it works out great. If it doesn't your only out time, money and therapist fees.
Jamie, I love watching all your videos. But this sweet baby looks … I’m still trying to determine if I can see one piece of that truck that is worth restoring, maybe the block but I think if you’re really magna flux it, you’d probably find that’s damaged also. I wish you the best of luck.
You should take motor out and fix then put back it simple u been hard on it im used live Washington state I plan move back to hometown Seattle area but expensive to live but it my hometown
I don’t need the extra axle in the back, but you’ve got me with the rest of it - and a whole bunch of other people would agree I’m sure. My “dream truck” is a little more mundane - a crew cab 70s truck with a Cummins under the hood would do it.
I once used broken rings to clean the ring grooves on all 6 pistons of a Chev 235 - and my hands told me all about it - you know, used rings are kind of sharp?
0:09 That is funny. That Washington plate looks like the Mexico plates from the late '80's. They were green letters with a white background and in my state we had the TJ***** series. Of course it said SIN MEX on ours.
I think it's beautiful without squinting. I'm also a Powerwagon and Ramcharger fan. Owned my '80 Clubcab P.W. for over 20 years. Traded my '15 P.W. in for a used '18 P.W. because it had the Macho Powerwagon decals, LOL. If I had the room and money, I would have every generation of the Powerwagon and Ramcharger. And a '70 AAR Cuda, a '70 300 H. The list is way too long.
COOLEST trucks ever made???? Well, maybe tied with the first generation. My Grandpa had this exact truck, color and all, except it was a short bed CREW CAB.......I WISH I COULD FIND IT NOW!!! He was the only one I knew back then that owned a Crew Cab.
Is that one ano army veteran? I had one the same color, and one day, I opened the glove box door, and it had a brass Id plate attached to the door. Mine was actually an Airforce veteran. Once a year the military would auction off surplus trucks and car lot owners would buy them and throw a quick and dirty paint job on them and flip them. These were the strongest old trucks. Mechanically, they would hold up to about anything. Body wise? Not so much!
Cool truck, swap the cab, break down the engine, and hack the bed to look right, while doing worky work that pays money, and a full life with friends, family, children, and most important your wonderful spouse. Thanks for the sharing your labor of love with us.

It's time to pull the poly. It looks like you may even have the parts to piece it back together if your other poly parts engine has good pistons.

Good content and thanks
That's pretty impressive. The truck is 6 years older than me, and it can still get it's hood fully erect.
What are the differences between a 318 and a Poly 318?
The whole top end, pistons, and actually the block is different, but functionally similar. In terms of architecture and sizing, they are the same.
You have good taste in music the Melvins 👍bad taste in very rusty vehicles
What’s wrong with rusty vehicles? Lol.
@@DeadDodgeGarage love the channel truck will be awesome someday
You sir are a bad influence. I dragged home a rust free, short bed, D150 yesterday. It has a blown up 904 but came with a a518 in the bed! The 318 seems to run mint after draining the bad gas and water mixture from the tank. Best of all, my wife didn't kill me (yet).
I should apologize, but I’m not going to 😅 sounds like a deal!
Wow, it really would be cool to see that 318 running again.
I hope to make that happen some day soon.
That's one of the many reasons why I HATE stock exhaust manifolds!
How do you find these relics in your neck of the woods 😅
Dave found me this one on Facebook down in Vancouver, so I got him to go secure the asset until I could pick it up. Then somehow conscripted him to help me load it, find the bed for it, and then come all the way up here and help me fix it. The funny part is, I think he actually hates it
Oh look! It's "days gone by" Jamie and his Ploy!
My 1963 dodge stepside is soon going to have a 360 automatic in it going to do this on my channel but I am currently remodeling six houses.
A 225 Turbocharged slant 6 would be a real hoot in that power wagon
It’s not quite what I had in mind. Haha. But it sure would be something.
Your "Blue Burden" Power Wagon is an interesting truck. Give it your best shot and if it works out great. If it doesn't your only out time, money and therapist fees.
Shame it was left out in the weather 😵💫yes would look better with the tub . They were good care takers especially in the body 😅😂🤣.👍🏻🇦🇺.
I love that truck.
Melvins, Sunn....I like this channel more by the day.
Oh hell yeah, brother!
Those brightly colored chunks that fell out- looks like a kids breakfast cereal that's name for 'trademark reasons' escapes me....
Nice Patiner👌🏻 the ole one eye power squints got potential
I would drive it. But a 46 4 door 6x6 power wagon would be my dream truck.
I don’t need the extra axle in the back, but you’ve got me with the rest of it - and a whole bunch of other people would agree I’m sure. My “dream truck” is a little more mundane - a crew cab 70s truck with a Cummins under the hood would do it.
@@DeadDodgeGarage look up legacy classic trucks.
@@davekelly3228 I'm familiar with their work 😃
I have what I belive is an early swepline 8ft box in a weird blue color but I'm in Nebraska
Dang. I’d love to have that, but Nebraska is a long way away.
I once used broken rings to clean the ring grooves on all 6 pistons of a Chev 235 - and my hands told me all about it - you know, used rings are kind of sharp?
I can’t say I’ve been stabbed or sliced by one - yet…
Keep the patina and clear coat it and definitely get it running
Yessss! Power wagon!
Yeah, jealous. I’d really like a four door cab for my ramp truck build.
12 VALVE! NUFF SAID!
Definitely not a military truck - but that’s cool!
Magnum swap the world. Color is kickass! Sypher F
