Update 20th July 2021 - Inno3D have been in touch and sent us a second iChill X4 to test, the result of which we have added to our written review. The second card is a better performer, offering lower noise levels and improved thermal results, backing up our original suggestion of a mounting pressure issue with the first sample we tested. So should i sell my 2080ti for 1000$ and get 3080ti for 1600$. Or should i wait 6 months and sell my 2080ti for 500$ and get 3080 for ~1100$. Difficult choise.
Great review, tho it would be even better if the 4 reviewed cards had different font color from added ones for comparison. Easy to get lost in all the similar names. Maybe like white font for the cards you are talking about, then light blue for 3090 counterparts, red hue for amd and green hue for nvidia. I think that would be much easier to follow the chart just with the glance.
the 3080 TIs are silicon which don't make the grade to be 3090s, it would otherwise be wasted for having just 1 or 2 defective cores. it's really a 3090 lite
I think the 3090 offering is a bigger waste for gamers than 3080ti. Games don't use 24GB of Vram, and you can still get 3090 like performance for 500 dollars less than 3090 AIB cards. FE cards have always been inferior in the stack.
So, if someone using 6 hdd, 1 ssd, 8 rgb fan case, i9 10900 non k, using rtx 3080 10gb or rtx 3080 ti 12gb, is that PC is still very safe for using psu 850w plus gold ??
The only reason I'd consider getting one is because I know I can get £400-£450 back through selling my RTX 2080, so £600-£650 for a 3080Ti isn't too bad...No way would I even think about it if I had no current GPU to sell though. It's all irrelevant of course, seeing as the scalpers & bots will grab all the stock within 30secs of them going on sale...
That card with the glitter / crystals is hideous and awesome at the same time. If I could find one, I would buy it. That with some royal memory and Masterfan prismatic fans would look absolutely ridiculous.
Also wasn't a fan but was available at a good price and wanted to test the 3080Ti out, and guess what, I'm shocked by how solid this is built and performs. Better than most of the big names. And the RGB, man it's growing on me. The ugliest thing is the Gamerock RGB logo on the side as the font is kinda silly

Been after a 3080 since Sept. Finally today managed to get in an order for a Palit 3080Ti. It's not the brand I normally would have bought but these days. It's luck of the draw and when one comes up you either jump or miss out. If I could get any cards at RRP I'd have bought the 3080 not the 3080Ti but the reality is you're lucky if you can get a 3080 for £1299, never mind £650.

@@andydbedford Mine is the GameRock card and it's gaudy as all hell. I disabled the RGB side and it's in a big case so does not bother me. The thermals are very good though and it's not an excessively noisy card. Even overclocked. Temps are very good as well. In most games you're in the mid 60s and only in the most demanding titles like Cyberpunk at 4k with DLSS and Ray Tracing on does it go into the 70s. I think it's a great card, expensive even at MSRP but a very solid card. I have no regrets buying mine. Mine is a very good over clocker as well. I've seen boosts peak at 2070-2090mhz.
10% faster than a 3080. 70% more expensive at MSRP. Anyone else long since finished with feeling frustrated with this behaviour and moved on to the DGAF stage? If the mining craze ever ends, I feel that Nvidia will find a large portion of their core audience (DIY + gamer) just aren't as engaged as they where before.
Yip mate, I'd of took a 3070 at retail MSRP but that's obviously not happening but other than that no chance would I give them £1200 for this cut down 3090 even if the market wasn't the way it is due to mining

No it really shouldn't, only reason I can even debate getting an AIB card is because I own an AIB 3070 I got before the prices got gouged to oblivion. Interesting you say Gigabyte mem temps are impressive, I would "have to" assume they finally started using decent VRAM thermal pads over the trash they were using prior. I was forced to change out my 3080 Gaming OC pads as the VRAM temps were hitting just over 100C in "some" games (not acceptable imho). With new Gelid mk12 thermal pads, temps now in the 70C's for gaming with the same setting and ambient temp.
I met somebody willing to trade an unused Gigabyte 3080ti for my MSI 1660ti + cash. How much cash would make that a balanced trade? Both are kind of artificially marked up so I'm willing to do the trade at the right price.
Even if it were £200 more than a 3080 it still doesn't really feel like there's enough of a performance bump over 3080 for it to feel worth it. The base models of Ampere are good enough performance wise but should've shipped with more Vram but the Ti's this time are just nothing burgers nevermind the prices!
Nvidia officially recommends 750W. We saw 567W total system power in Cyberpunk at 1440p, so I'd say 600W is cutting it too fine. Power may vary in other games and take you past 600W, plus you want some overhead for efficiency

It's weird. The more I look at reviews of this card, and the more I see what a cash grab it is, the more invested I am. I am *not* getting this card, even if I was personally offered a chance to buy it as MSRP. But this card is so ridiculous, it's kind of fascinating.
I did that on my palit 3080Ti and I saw my power consumption didn’t go over 360watts because Daisy chain 8pins are not the way because they can’t supply enough power and when I went with sperate 3 8pins I went all the way up to 400watt in gaming with clock speeds going crazy high and stable
@@carlpalm1462 no sadly for 400w you need separate 3 8pins even tho some people say it’s ok it’s not because power supply where not made to draw 400w from 3 8 pins where 2 are a daisy chain because each 8pin from the power supply gives out 150w so that’s 2X 150 is 300 plus the 75w of the pcie interface that’s 375 that’s still way off 400 and you don’t want to push anything beyond it’s rating or even stay on it 24/7 that’s not going to end well
@@carlpalm1462 some power supply’s can handle having 2 8pins from one to supply a lot of power but those are high end power supplys with high gauge cables and better connectors to not melt and no one has those because they’re meant for LN2 oc and that kind of stuff you can watch Jays2cents he talked about this topic about 8pins long time ago and he really cleared up some things
This is a pre-scaled 3080, simple as that. Its for people who might buy a scalped 3080 at £1500 but can tell themselves the TI is better and not going to a scalper. Comparing to the 3090 MSRP is a joke since theyre £2300-2600 scalped. Your choice for Nvidia cards is FOMO 3080Ti at scalped 3080 prices, scalped 3080, scalped 3090. This isnt even a 3090 replacement since half the RAM is missing for any production workload and the cooler was downgraded to the 3080 one. First party scalping, nothing meaningfully more than that.

SO, for 3090 performance which would you prefer to pay, 1199.99 FE / 1399.99 EVGA FTW3 before taxes or the cost of the 3090 in which gamers will never touch 24GB of Vram.

Are you talking USD? The 3080ti has an MSRP of $1200 USD, not $2000. Now, it *absolutely* is going to be sold for $2000+ by AIBs and scalpers. But that's not MSRP.

I'll keep my 3090 thanks it's worth it to ME and I got mine 2 months ago way before any 3080Ti's were made. Its a great GPU FOR 😊.

Yea 3080's (non LHR) are more valuable to miners than the 3080TI hence the price is more inflated vs the 3080 ti.

Miners play but a small role in this. The chip shortage is global and the vanishing of crypto will not change the prices by much at all

That's a very bizarre trade, even a hash limited 3080Ti will beat a 1660Ti, so why the hell does he want it. Sounds like an attempted scam to me.

no, it'd need to be running hotter than that for throttling - the FE model's temp limit can go up to 90C

I got one at MRSP, that hurt, but selling my RTX 2060 Super for £645 made it hurt a lot less.
