you're a fucking legend man, took my car apart for the first time 3 months ago and ran into a few problems trying to solve a simple one (bent my camshaft because counter torque wrench slipped, waited 2 weeks for camshaft to get here before i realized i needed to get lifters too, etc) and since then you've uploaded countless in depth professional style videos on this engine. Thank you my man, already had been looking at written instructions but this is much better
Good job guys i have a 1.8 astra but when i fit my timing tool kit in the camshats and fit my belt my engine isnt turning full on crank piston touching my valvea
The camshaft sprocket bolts are Torque-to yield bolts and if you do not replace them they will either break in tightening down or will not give sufficient tension.
These engines are identical to the VVT Vauxhall engines aren't they? If so could you please try and do a video on camshaft replacement, as I want to update my camshafts soon but want to be 100% sure I know what I'm doing first, this video and your other one is a real help though. Also a turotial on how to get the inlet manifold off would be helpful too :)
Great video guys as always. Can you tell me from your experience, why my car has lost power significantly and start misfiring after these parts has been replaced. The timming belt was placed in order.
Could be the solenoid(s) as Darkfloyd stated, but also a blocked oilpassage - if you changed the camshafts oilseals (because of silicon pushed in these small canals during refitting the cambearing. Did you use OEM-parts? Always do, because this engine is very sensitive for non-original parts. You did not change any sensors?
probably not done right. very frequent in this cars, some people synchronize the 2 wheels on the camshafts and the one in the crackshaft, but you also need to loosen the camshaft wheels, remove camshaft cover, and synchronize camshafts themselves. then tighten everything again.
Greetings to all Maybe one of you has experience or maybe knows how many kilometers can be driven with the original pulleys, that is, after which the mileage is changed for the first time? Thank you

Will it be obvious the camshaft vvt is broke once the timing belt is off, will it be loose, if its not loose will it be the solenoid.
Hi
Why we need to change the bolt every time we change the camshaft?
The camshaft sprocket bolts are Torque-to yield bolts and if you do not replace them they will either break in tightening down or will not give sufficient tension.
@@howiesiesoosoo where do you buy the bolts?

Thank you
They'll only need changing when your car sounds like a diesel in startup and shortly after
Respect for showing your mistake - we all make them.
Whats size wrench is for holding camshaft?
