Thanks for your insights and observations. A great professional quality camera. I switched from FF Nikon to Fujifilm X and GFX cameras. I own 2 x XT3's, XT4's and HX2's as will as the little XT20 and 3 x GFX's and haven't looked back. I love the XT4 and have used it for VOGUE, ELLE and GRAZIA magazine shoots and the output was wonderful. I particularly appreciate the firmware updates and the improvements in performance. Most of our videos were shot with Fujifilm.
That's an incredible line of cameras! I love mine and it's still my main work camera after years of different systems. The XT20 is fantastic too, I had an XT30 for a while and that was EXCELLENT. Thanks for dropping by!
I use the XT-4 for both professional and private use. The first time I used it was for a bass festival in a theatre. And it was stunning with my XF 80mm f/2.8 lens. The feel of the camera is natural and the dials are in the right place. The flippy screen for me works better than expected but mostly I use the EVF wich is stunning in all light conditions. After a couple of years it still is my favorite camera for all weather conditions, for street, nature portrait, studio and macro photography and have no need to upgrade. Thanks for you detailed and honest review.
That XF80mm is supposed to be an absolute stunner but I've not had a chance to handle it, I did have the 90mm for a while and that is an absolute 10/10 lens. The EVF is phenomenal, very glad to meet another happy user for a camera that seems to not get much love compared to the rest of the Fuji line now! Thanks for taking the time to comment 🙏
Been using mine for a couple years now. I shoot nightclubs/events every week. The Sigma 16mm f1.4 is my moneymaker. And I keep an old Canon FD 50 1.4 in the front pocket of my pants. 2-3 times a night I pull that out and I just love what it does.
I love my X-T4 too. The things I would change are: (1) swapping the AF ON and AEL buttons (which I have swapped in the settings). Makes much more intuitive sense to me to have the AF ON button close to the focus joystick. (2) swapping the playback and delete buttons. If the playback button is on the outside it is much easier to quickly pull up the photo if you want to check it without removing your eye from the view finder. (3) Adding two more custom assignable buttons to the front of the camera next to the grip. You can operate those with your other two fingers holding the grip. (4) On the drive sub-dial put CL where HDR now is and move HDR all the way to the other outside. Every now and then that dial accidentally flips to HDR and the processing time is relatively long which risks losing the shot. You would not have that when you accidentally would shoot in CL mode.
Absolutely fantastic ideas, I agree with you regarding the playback button, I actually changed the button on the front of the camera next to the lens mount so I can review through the viewfinder for when doing big group shots ect!
Nice review and just subscribed. The X-T4 has been a life changer for me. It quickly turned me into a hybrid shooter and made me change the content of my UA-cam channel to create short films along with using for client work (mainly video so far). I love it for it's performance and the way it looks also makes you want to go out and shoot almost on a daily basis. Another thing that should be mentioned is that it's a great camera for sports/action/wildlife. The 15fps combined with the correct autofocus settings make it a beast for that.
I absolutely agree with these points and thanks for the kind words! I do absolutely LOVE the burst rates but to be fair, when when doing paid gigs I RARELY use them. I'm plenty happy with slower rates. Do you have a favourite lens you pair with it? I keep trying to convince myself to get the 50-140🤣
@@FeralGinger interestingly I use 15fps well over 50% of the time cause I shoot mostly sport and a fair bit of wildlife, but the X-T4 is also great to use for landscape, travel and portraits in my experience. I only have two lenses at the moment, but they're a great combo for both photo and video. They are the Tamron 17-70 and the Fuji 70-300. Haha the way you feel about the 50-140 is how I feel about the 90 F2 and the 33 1.4. Once I get them, I think the kit is set. Do you think you will pounce on the 50-140? It'll also be great for me, but the size and weight is a bit of a turn off, hence why didn't get the 100-400.
For wildlife that absolutely makes sense, I just hate going through and culling so many images 😭 Ohh the 70-300 is a beautiful lens and very nice size! Can confirm the 90mm f2 is one of the best lenses I've EVER used, I do regret selling it but it was VERY niche for me. So SO fast and sharp. Agreed with the weight/size issue but it would make event photography a lot easier, I have another graduation shoot coming up soon that I might rent one for. Usually I just shoot primes and the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 as my back up.
I bought my first Fujifilm (X-T1) about 6 months ago and I am in love. Autofocus is a bit slow on my X-T1 so I might want to upgrade for the X-T4. I'll keep my X-T1 for sure. As an "older" photographer I enjoy the old fashion feeling of Fujifilm.
Fantastic pictures, a great review, and a charming accent! Subscribed :) My dad brought me my old Fuji x-t10, and after a day with it in France, I recalled how much I liked working with Fuji's colours. So I've ordered an x-t4 to get an even better experience. x-t10 is beautiful but too small and it doesn't have the best grip, especially compared to my main Nikon d750. Let's see how the x-t4 behaves in my hand!
Hahaha thanks for the kind words - wasn't expecting the accent comment, thank you 😅 I think you'll have an absolute blast with the XT4, it truly is a fantastic camera. What lenses do you plan to pair with it?
@FeralGinger indeed, I love the xt4! Didn't expect it to have such a fantastic grip, and the raws are a great deal more flexible than those of xt10. Plus, now I have all the buttons that I'm so used to in my nikon, so shooting feels very natural. In addition to the camera, I bought the tamron 17-70 2.8 as an all-purpose lens. So far, I'm very satisfied with the quality of the image, especially for the price i got it for. Additionally, I'm waiting for my nikon adapter to use my rather rich collection of nikon lenses (I really want to see how the 28 1.8 behaves on crop, as it's by far my favoutite lens on FF). In the future, I'm also looking into getting a fast wide-angle lens, something equivalent to 24/28 1.4 on FF. Primarily for street photography
Glad you're happy with it. Thanks for taking the time to comment too! We visit Scotland quite a lot and it's always the X-T4 that comes with us because of the weather 😂
I would def change the ISO and make it better and the auto focus but I'm still learning but for vids I'm starting to like manual better...... This vid quality is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 movie quality look, what lens did you use?
Hey, thanks for dropping by, surprisingly it's on one of my cheapest lenses, the Viltrox 56mm f1.4 with a glimmerglass, I find it to be ULTRA consistent for talking head videos! Glad you're getting on with yours, what glass do you tend to use?
I agreed with so much. That side “door” so horrible! I have n x-t30 too and love it. I would like a mix of them both. I have a grip on my x-t4 to make the grip a tiny bit bigger too as I like a bigger grip on a heavier camera.
Hey thanks for dropping by! The doors are absolutely one of my biggest bug bears. I do find I enjoy the smallrig grip on it but it does add a bit of bulk! The X-T30 is an EXCELLENT camera too - I do miss mine! Thanks for commenting!
You mention a smaller camera that you take on your little adventures. What is it? I'm thinking about an XT-5 or XT-4 with a pancake prime as a walk-around street camera, with perhaps a bigger lens for landscape stuff. I need to actually hold one, and an XT-50, to decide. Whichever one it is has to invite me to use it.
Hey, I actually had a 27mm pancake lens for my X-T4 but it's still far from small, I ended up going with the RX1R which has been a fantastic camera so far, I really enjoy fixed lens cameras as I work a little better with restraint and I used to LOVE my Fuji X70.
@@FeralGinger Ah. Interesting. I like the Fuji cameras for the analog controls and see that the RX1R doesn't do them the same way. Does the dial on that camera give you several pre set shooting modes?
It's a resilient little beast, shot a graduation on it last night and it was flawless! I do need to do more video work with it though - thanks for dropping by!
Still a Great Camera in 2024 ... i use to have starting from start to end minolta z2, nikon d40x , nikon d90 , nikon d7000 , nikon d750, nikon d610 Im now full Full Fuji-XT4
Xt4 has better control overall. Switching from photo to video just one flip on the switch, on x100 vi- go to menu choose video etc. with small lens not much difference and the xt4 not a dead end. You can expand how your interest changes. I think the x100 is a good second camera.
Hey, thanks for taking the time to comment, it's definitely not on Sony's level but more than good enough for paid work, I did many pet portraits with it without issue!

16mm 2.8 23mm F2 35mm F2 50mm F2 sigma 56mm f 1.4 all very sharp from wide open quiet fast weather sealed I bought the sigma new and all the Fuji's 2nd hand very good build quality on all
It does, the XT3/4 are where Fuji started to figure out that autofocus is pretty important! It's obv not perfect and definitely not on Sony level but I used to use it for paid pet portraiture!
The XT3 was the last truly premium camera Fujifilm made imo. Their quality has dropped so much since then, constant issues across all later camera ranges, makes me consider leaving the brand now tbh
I agree with 96% of that you said I'm an amateur photographer and the xt4 does it all for me it's possibilities seem endless I own an example of all the series 2 cameras xt 1 xe 2 x70 etc great cameras all but the xt4 does it all plus I paid only 1400 euros brand new a great bargain
@@FeralGinger I couldn't afford the xh2, but I managed to buy an xt-5..probably the xt-4 is better in many aspects than the xt-5, but the mirage of the 40 mpx won out for me.
I have all of these Fuji cameras and the XT four is not that big something is definitely wrong with you because the camera is not that much bigger than the XT three or the XT one. The XT one is definitely the lightest camera of them all but I definitely do not agree with you there that it should be smaller than get the XT five then.
